hi

I hope your well

just got my 2013 vellfire ggh25

Does anyone know what this button does?

It’s located on the left of the steering wheel near fog light.

Hi Mosey, hope you are enjoying your Vellfire. The button shown in the image is a 4WD (four-wheel drive) switch, which is used to engage or disengage the 4x4 system in a vehicle. This specific button is found in a Toyota Hilux Surf.

  • The symbol on the button, "H-F-H" with an "x" in the middle, represents the different drive modes.
  • "H" typically stands for "High Range" and is used for normal driving on paved roads.
  • "F" often indicates "Full-Time" 4WD, which is suitable for all-weather conditions on various surfaces.
  • The "x" in the middle of the symbol represents the four wheels of the vehicle, indicating that all four are engaged in the drive system.

I am very much not looking at the same photo as you!!!

And from his post, and his question, we could be forgiven for reckoning it's found on Mosy's 2013 Vellfire GGH25. Not a Hilux.

I've now been inquisitive enough to get out my copy of the JPNZ owners manual - I absolutely recommend one @Gotenks1

The function of said button is to turn on the automatic function of the four wheel drive.

It would seem they operate in 2wd, unless the button is on, and if it detects wheel slip it brings in the 4wd.

I've taken photos of the pages from the manual for you.

yes its fine, if it was bad for the car then they would prevent you from pressing it or it just wouldnt engage, so its fine
