Hi Rojie. Apologies. I've currently found a vellfire that has the premium sound I think it's called. I wanted to change the head unit so I can use maps and English working radio etc. Was wondering if someone has done it to this set up instead of the standard audio system.
Firstly G,
If you are looking at a Vellfire, you vehicle profile is incorrect.
A 2008nVellfire will be a Gen 2 machine, 2008 onward.
Your question is a very common question, with hundreds, if not more, responses on this Forum.
You should search for Head Unit (or similar) and/or Android (or similar) in the search box at the top rhs of your home screen.
Be cautious, as some of these upgrades are far from simple, especially with the multi-speaker systems.
A photo of your current head unit may help members help you.

How did you manage to change the language to English. We have an alpine dvd player in the back and can’t get it working either. All we can can hear is the audio of the dvd.
If you have an OEM system you cannot change the language.
If you feed audio in through the RCA jacks you will get analogue sound, whatever the audio source.
You should be able to feed analogue video through the RCA inputs too.
I do not believe you can feed a digital signal to the Gen 1 OEM head units.

Hi all. I noticed a car I was looking at has premium speaker system I think it is. What specific leads and head unit would be required. So I don't lose any functionality of speakers and rear camera ETc? Thanks
Hi G,
I don't understand your question.
Are you considering changing your head unit and asking for recommendations ?

Error code 22 🤨
Hi Asajj,
Unfortunately, this means absolutely nothing to me; but may be meaningful to an A/C engineer
B1422/22*1 Compressor Lock Sensor Circuit - Compressor and magnetic clutch - Compressor and magnetic clutch drive belt - Compressor lock sensor - Wire harness between compressor lock sensor and air conditioning amplifier - Air conditioning amplifier -
*1: DTC B1422/22 (Compressor Lock Sensor Circuit) is indicated only for a currently occurring malfunction for 2GRFE.
Do you have the 2GRFE engine ?

Hi all. I have a 2008 Vellfire 3.5 v6. I bought from a dealer near London last year and I’m the first UK owner. I love it!
Sadly the Aircon hasn’t worked since I bought it and stupidly I presumed it just needed regassing.I recently took it to a generic nationwide garage who did this, but they tell me it’s still not working and their equipment won’t speak to Japanese cars. They advised I need a diagnostic. I have rang loads of local garages - all neg. Eventually I have found one about an hour away who can do a diagnostic for around £90.
So before I take the trip and spend the money, is there anything I can do to check at home?
We’ve looked at the fuse in the engine bay- fine. Audio and all other dash/instrument controls work. Engine sound changes when Aircon button is pressed (after a few seconds lights starts to flash).
I don’t have a book so don’t know what all the display things mean.
Eg can anyone team me what ‘clean’ means next to the clock?? I read a dirty cabin filter can affect Aircon.
Thanks in advance and sorry for stupid questions. So sorry Asajj,
I forgot to welcome you to the Forum.

The clean icon is just part of the climate controls, every 10 mins it will activate the Ioniser to curb the door, clean just means it completed that cycle.
Here is a helpful PowerPoint doing so the electrical systems in your 20 series.
Hello Chris,
As far as I am aware my air con is working fine.
However, I was left wondering if you are aware of a similar (test) technique on the 10 series.

We have 2006 Alphard and the waste water exit socket leaks so we can’t empty the sink. Is it easy to fit a new one?
Hello Alastair,
Welcome to the Forum.
So you have no grey water storage tank, just an outlet pipe with a valve ?
Do you know who performed the conversion ?
I would try them first.
There are several companies that supply spares for motorhomes and caravans.
I would take a photo for them, and it would be helpful if you posted one on this forum.
It should make it so much easier for someone to help.

I am from across the pond, and this is rather bizzare. In some of the states that see harsh winter conditions (cold winters, hot summers, road salt) the cracking of bushings is universal and according to toyota specific mechanics here, it is not near end of service life.
I take your point about end of life.
An advisory is just that; but indicates upcoming maintenance will be required.
However, if the Tester fails the bushes the only remedy, except getting a retest elsewhere, is to have them replaced.
Weather here, thankfully, is nowhere near as extreme as your location.

Hello! I'm desperate to find a silver match for a wing mirror unit. Can anyone help please? I have a 2005 facelift model.
Hello Julie,
Have your tried Topsham Car Sales (no longer in Topsham).
They do, or did, specialise in Bongos and Alphards, and do, or did, have several 'spare' vehicles.

Hi Andrew,
Welcome to the Forum.
I changed your year from 1012 then noticed your profile is 08-15, but your year is 2008.
Please correct your profile to make it easier for members to provide relevant helpful information in future

Quite stunning, and Calder Campers is one of the best convertors.
Has it been registered yet with DVLA ?
Does it have an MOT yet.

Can anyone please advise which swivel seat base I need to fit to front passenger seat in my 2010 Vellfire 2
.4z Platinum (ANH20 chassis).
I already have the centre console out but can not find confirmation that the Alphard base will fit?
Any advice welcome!!

Ensure you take it for a decent trial run first; not just around the block.
Check for fluid leaks etc, and fluid levels.

I agree with Richard.

I am just about to complete buy of alphard 2009 campervan it is 3.5 litre engine with 48 K mileage To buy is 32 K is there anything I should consider is this a good buy? It is new conversion with 3 years warranty.
Hello Marie,
Welcome to the Forum.
32k is lot of money whatever the purchase..
Things to consider:-
Are you buying from a trader ? I assume you are because of the 3 year warranty.
Warranties can be bought; but check, and understand, all the clauses, exclusions, restrictions etc.
If buying from a VAT registered trader, CHECK, 20 % of the sales price is VAT, and is unrecoverable unless you have a business.
Is the van undersealed ?
You do not mention who performed the conversion, or what type it is.
There are good convertors, and not so good.
You do not give any detailed information regarding any features fitted; thereby making it very hard for members to provide adequate assistance.
Is it a rear conversion, or a side conversion. Does it having a hob and sink, fridge, gas, Electric Hook Up
Have you done your due diligence ?
When does to MOT expire ?
Checked previous MOTs on the DVLA website ?
Does it appear corrective actions have been performed immediately or in a timely manner.
Have you enquired about insurance; many companies will not insure a Alphard campervan, so start you search now to avoid potential unpleasant surprises.
For 32k I would need to see the Auction Sheet, and definitely have an AA or RAC Inspection Report.
For the asking price, I would expect everything to be immaculate; another sign of previous owner care.
Please supply as much detail as possible, and photographs would be a huge help for us to comment on.
These comments are intended to protect your investment, not to put you off !

Good morning all, rumours of my demise were exaggerated….
I had the pleasure of going to check what bulbs I needed for my rear right indicator and rear left top brake lights… oh how I laughed when I discovered that they are sealed LED units and I need to replace both of them… I’ve been scouring the interweb and currently have someone in Japan trying to source for me. On the off chance, does anyone know if there is an easier way to get them? The ones currently on the van are aftermarket units. If it makes a difference, a couple of pics which may/ may not help! Thanks in advance, and yes, I know this is probably in the wrong place so I’m waiting to be told😂Welcome back.

Dear Friends
I am an ex-pat who owns and maintains a 2008 Hybrid E-Four in Perth Western Australia.
Recently, the engine started to falter whilst driving, making the car jerk. This quickly got worse and although the engine will start, the car can no longer be driven.
I have eliminated fuel starvation as an issue by replacing the fuel pump and filter. I also cleaned the throttle body. No improvement!
No fault codes have shown up on the OBD scan!
Some strange electrical faults have appeared with accessories so I have looked at both the main and aux. batteries. The main battery was replaced in 2024 and seems fine. The aux. was down to 11.6v and 13.6v with engine running. So I have replaced it. Now it's 12.6v, but still only 13.6v with the engine running, not 14.6v which I believe it should be.
So my question is can the alternator be the root cause of this puzzle?
Your opinions are welcome, because owners of imported Toyotas seem to be very unpopular in Perth and all I can do is read a multimeter.

Language options. Since it's a configurable screen so you can set the display to whatever you want. Like you can configure a combination if speedometer and other data etc. existing one has 2/3 fixed dials plus a smaller lcd showing some information in Japanese that you will have to translate which cannot be an option while driving of course. Just getting the options to configure the display in a choice of languages along with a combination of different data seems good to me. But i have to agree that the price is on the steeper side as compared to overall benefits so def not that good of a value for money.
Sorry, I didn't read the advert properly; I thought it was just a digital version of the analogue dials. Silly me.

Hi all,
Had anyone looked at these or thought about buying one for their beloved Alphard/Vellfire? These look quite interesting and I'm thinking of getting one for mine. Not immediately as u still need to sort the head unit out first (on its way) but this looked good considering it offers a lift of options for display which you don't get with the built in one. Plus i hope the conversation of all units should be a breeze since it's a purely screen based interface.
If anyone has already experienced these then it would be great if they can share it with the community.
Regards,
I just found this on AliExpress:
