  1. I found this. I had an auto Merc with the gear select on stalk and auto electric brake (my first auto), then got the Vellfire and wondered why I had a jolt when I moved house and parked on sloped drive. I thought the gearbox was on its way out, then worked out to put parking brake on then into park
  2. Just found this post and saw Just for an update, this has been changed to this; Existing halogen headlamp units on vehicles first used on or after 1 April 1986 must not be converted to be used with high intensity discharge (HID) or light emitting diode (LED) bulbs. If such a conversion has been done, you must fail the headlamp for light source and lamp not compatible. Reference https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-inspection-manual-for-private-passenger-and-light-commercial-vehicles/4-lamps-reflectors-and-electrical-equipment#section-4-1-4 From my understanding from reading this, its ok to change to LED's now
  3. Thank you to all. I have been looking on Amazon but not too sure of the quality
  4. Hi all Sorry if this has been asked and answered before. My 2009 has very weak headlights, so I'm thinking of replacing them with LED lights. Does anybody know the type Also my high beams have ballast connected. One side packed in so I purchased a replacement set, exact same spec but the connections are loose and they keep playing up, wo I would like to change these for LED high beams that I can plug directly into. Thanks in advance
  5. I have stick on attennas fitted to the windscreen but the cables have been cut. I will have a look next time i strip the console down Thanks anyway
  6. I guess it was too much to ask to be able to use the original GPS antenna and DAB radio antenna lol Thanks
  7. There are two ways of finding what it is. 1. Press it and look around at everything to see if anything changes. 2. Pull the switch out and try and follow the cable. On some cars people have put a switch into the brake signal wire so they can watch TV while driving
  8. I have found two cables behind the head unit. Im assuming they are antenna connections. Can anybody confirm this and if so, which is which
  9. Just in case anybody is interested. I was looking at parts and came across somebody selling the stalks for an Alphard / Vellfire. It looks like they have the rear fog light switch on the indicator stalk. I know you can plug it is. Im not looking to spend the money on this for the amount of time I use my fogs, but somebody might be interested. COLUMN SWITCHES TOYOTA VELLFIRE VELFIRE 2015-2018 Indicator Wiper Light Stalks | eBay
  10. I hope it recovered in one piece. I guess now they are more popular and with parts being rare, the idiots are out to try and make some money.
  11. I had one of them but it one of the sockets failed after a while. I changed it over for another, but had to steal that to run behind the glove box because my android unit has HDMI output, the rear screen has RCA and I needed 5v USB to run the convertor. Just waiting for my third socket to arrive
  12. Thanks. I thought that, but I tested with 12volts and as long as white was negative, it didnt matter if you used brown or red on positive, the screen still sparked into life, so I just used two cables. It turns off when it is closed and on when you open it. It will probably never get used, it was just annoying me not working
  13. You can bluetooth ODB reader and get the free carscanner app, that works but I think the techstream has more options
  14. No the screen is wired to the ignition. It turns on when you open it and then shuts off when close it. The only problem I had was my head unit feeds out HDMI but the screen has an RCA. Ended up having to run a USB socket to plug in a convertor Not the greatest picture and the fact I can only mirror the front screen is not great, but it was there doing nothing and people in the back can stop keep asking me how long till we get somewhere lol
  15. In answer to my own question, as nobody else seems to know. The red is positive, the white and brown are negative. The white plug does not seem to do anything. Wiring the positive and negative give it power, adding a video feed shows a picture
  16. No problem For Toyoto Alphard Vellfire 20 2008-2014 Right Hand Drive ABS Carbon Fiber Style Accessories Gear Interior Decoration Stickers - AliExpress
  17. I found a cable hanging behind my head unit (a Sony aftermarket unit) that looks like somebody has cut the plug off. It looks after market with the sleeving and it has a phone connector. I followed it back to under the passenger seat where I expected it to be plugged into a box, but it connects to another connector and looks like its been tapped off an orginal cable. I know its not the reversing camera, I dont have an amp or a front camera (that I can see), so I am assuming it goes to the roof monitor that has never been working, Can somebody confirm and if so it has 3 wires, a red, white and brown. I am assuming that it is positive, negative and acc, but could be wrong. Anyone shed any light on it and what the white plug is for. Thanks in advance
  18. I have peeling on the bonnet, just at the leading edge where the stone chips started, so Im going to just put a black strip along the front. The main problem is the tailgate under the window, around the badge
  19. I was going to do this and wrap them, but I have found some plastic stick on covers on AliExpress
  20. No patience needed. We all need help at some time
  21. I bought this For Toyota Dual USB Car Charger Port Handy Phone Power Supply Adapter Socket 12V | eBay Just tap into the positive and negative from the 12v socket. It fits in the hole next to the socket
  22. Just pull it hard from the bottom. It will lossen and then work your way up. Dont pull it all the way off as there is a plug connected under the pocket, gear shift chrome cover for the light. You should be able to find your lead without unplugging it.
  23. If its a USB then fit a little socket. I have one for mine, although I use mine to sideload stuff to my Android unit. You can get them off Ebay for cheap, just check the size to make it fit. The one by the 12v socket I made into twin charging ports and ran the lead from the head unit beside the steering wheel.
  24. I assume you are talking about the 12v socket not the storage box, unless the storage box is stuck. If it is the 12v socket then you just need to removed the head unit / gear shift surround. To remove that press the shift lock button, move to N. Unscrew the shift knob and remove. Open the little storage pouch (dont know why but makes it easier) and then pull up from the bottom, working you way up to free it. You can then get to the back of the 12v socket. Not much to see apart from two wires coming out of the wiring loom going into a white plug. Unless somebody has cut the wires to feed something else, I would more look at the fuse.
