Me too, apparantly it was an issue with the early ones, the plastic gear wears (according to Just Japenesse in wigan, very helpful). Still I can confirm its a fast job to do the damper, only mine was just fine. It could be the column joints but I'm sure mine is £5-600 column gearbox assembly.

Parking sensors - do they still work, I'm not sure how they are connected oringinally, via head unit or otherwise.

Here's a video I found on how to remove the steering wheel. Looks easy, guess I will find out in a few days time!
