  1. Haha yeah don’t know where DAVE came from! the extra space it creates is fantastic if you only have mid row passengers. I’ve also been looking at those boot lights, are they a worth while upgrade? I was hesitant at first because all the interior lights have been changed to LED by previous owner and they are blinding at night and they turn on. But that tiny little thing that’s in there already just might as well not exist.
  2. Great posts Dave, I was just thinking I wish I could search the internet in Japanese because I bet there are 10 year old posts on Japanese forums explaining all of this that's new to us 😅 I really would love to know the reasons behind omitting this part, was it an optional extra no one wanted to pay for? I know it's on other Toyota's, I think the Estima? Just seems so strange to have a fully functioning feature in the car just to be hidden away. Anyway. I'll update with my success story (or lack of!).
  3. Nice one! I will take a look at this tomorrow if the weather eases up. Thanks for tips both.
  4. Hey thanks for the reply. I was just looking for a way to take it apart myself. I can see how that the piece that's already sited is just missing the latch and the spring (plus the pin that goes through holding it in. If only the latch could be sited with the unit that's already there! I can't see a way of getting the pin through and siting the spring back in place would be almost impossible. So yeah, I will be looking to find out if the sides come off. Failing that I might just take the whole seat out since I know there are videos on how to do that. Seems drastic though just to put a latch in place that really should have been there from the factory 😭
  5. Assuming I’ve received the right part that is.
  6. Happy new year all. I’ve just received these levers, would you possibly be able to explain how to fit them? Feeling really dumb looking the seat not knowing where to start other than having removed the blanking plate!
  7. Hi Skippy, I did have a good look around there, found the centre headrest which I was happy to find, I'm sure there was some stuff missing from the jack storage compartment too. But I couldn't find a definitive answer as to what was supposed to be in there all together. Unfortunately the remote holder is OOS so I've been refunded for that, but the the levers and new wiper blades are on the way which is probably the more important items on that list.
  8. I read this topic during my research before buying my Alphard and was kicking myself for not following the thread. Glad I found it again, thanks a lot for the part numbers. I've just put in an order for these, new wiper blades and the rubber TV remote control holder, that and the remote were both missing when it arrived in the UK, seems like they are very popular items to go missing. New one from Toyota was in the region of £200+ so I managed to find one on a Japanese auction site for £25.
  9. I finally got the time to take a look at this and after pulling everything apart turns out there was absolutely nothing wrong with the bush that was in there, it looked brand new ☹️ replaced it anyway so back to square one.
  10. I got my Alphard AH20 3.5 V6 on Saturday just gone. First full tank lasted me around 260miles which is about 23mpg. That was 60% motorway as I drove it 130miles home from the dealer. I filled it up with Tesco premium which is what I always used in my VXR and never had an issue with it plus it’s the cheapest premium around me by about 4 or 5p/l. I have eco mode set to on, don’t how much of a difference that makes, and I have been experimenting with the go pedal quite a lot! Who knew a two tonne brick could shift as much as this 😂 On my second tank now, I noticed that it only took around 53l to fill up at the pump, I believe it has a 65l tank so had about 12l of fuel left in it when the light came on which is about 80miles of range which I thought was a bit odd. I’m used to getting maybe 25miles when the petrol light comes on in my previous cars. The speedo has been MPH converted and the Oddo is also showing in miles now rather than kilometres. Would this also mean that my dash display is now showing miles per litre not kilometres per litre?
  11. I wonder if anyone could help out. I’m having the same trouble with not being able to open the rear screen. The headunit I have on the 2012 has different options on screen compared to the ones shown in this thread. Also has different buttons to press. My model number 56107, language can be changed to English for some of the top menu options. Do I need the TV remote control in order to operate the rear screen? Looking in the Japanese manual for reference to the rear screen only shows a sliding remote control operating it, which of course has gone missing.
  12. Just picked up my 2012 Alphard today and have the exact symptoms described here. Was a bit disappointed but fingers crossed the cheapest solution sorts it!
  13. Sorry to bump this thread but I’ve just collected my 2012 Alphard and I think it has this exact problem. Would i be able to get the part number please?
  14. EDIT: double post.
  15. Just joined the Alphard gang so had to order one of these 😀
  16. Yep first time in an auto. The foot operated parking brake definitely has me worried, certainly going to make for an interesting drive back home 😂 I’m so used to stopping at lights shifting to neutral with the electronic handbrake applied and letting stop start do its thing. Would the auto be ok with me popping it in neutral and applying the handbrake whilst I’m at the lights? Or it better to just sit my foot on the brake keeping it in drive? Out of interest does the foot operated handbrake automatically release when you accelerate like on the Kuga or is it a manual operation every time?
  17. Thanks for having me. I received the owners manual from JPNZ yesterday so I’m having a good old read of that before picking her up.
  18. Just wanted to say hi, been lurking here for a while and finally made the plunge and will be picking up my Alphard on Saturday. It's a 350 S C Package, with I believe quite a lot of factory options. I have about 120 mile trip back home and will be my first time driving an automatic so I'm hoping that experience goes pretty smoothly for me. If anyone has any top tips for a new owner I'm all ears!
  19. Hi all, been a lurker for a while as I've been taking my time to look over as many topics on here as I can before deciding to make my purchase and I'm happy to say I'm finally picking up my Alphard on Saturday! I made the call to my current insurers (Hastings Direct) to see what they could do, currently have a 2019 Ford Kuga Titanium 1.5tdi paying £462 this year, it cost me an extra £82 to change over to the the 2012 Alphard 3.5 V6. £542 seemed pretty reasonable to me, although I should point out that I am in South Wales and based on Chris' post above Wales is the third cheapest region in the UK. 35 M 9 years NCD doing around 9000miles a year and parked over night on drive.
