Andrew Nicholls Posted October 2, 2021 Posted October 2, 2021 I have a Toyota Alphard 2007 when I lock the car with the key or smart door lock, the rear hatch will not lock, does anyone know how to fix the problem.
Andy D Posted January 27, 2023 Posted January 27, 2023 Hi Andrew, Did you ever manage to get this fixed? I am having the same problem, other doors lock but the rear hatch door stays unlocked. Cheers Andy D
Malcontents Posted January 3 Posted January 3 Resurrecting a dead thread... I'm experiencing the same issue with a 2007, smart fob locks all the doors but the tailgate remains unlocked. Can anyone shine any light on how to fix this? Cheers Malcontents
Gamith Posted January 3 Posted January 3 (edited) I assume that there is nothing blocking the door from closing? I would open the door and try manually 'closing' the lock with a screwdriver or something similar and see whether the lock itself works as intended. If it doesn't then I would start by checking feeds and earth connection to the lock - then check the fuses (though I can't find a reference to a fuse for the rear door lock so that may be a pointless effort). Malcontents Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Thanks for your feedback Gamith and Rojie, appreciated! I'll check the fuse you mentioned Rojie. Tend not to use the tailgate under power so if the fuse has blown then I wouldn't have noticed. When closing manually it shuts no problem, the soft close mechanism pulls the tailgate in snuggly - just doesn't lock for some reason. I'll investigate tomorrow and see what I can discover.
BigNev Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Hi there! Have you attempted to see if it's locked, by NOT having the fob with you when you try to open it? Otherwise it does sense the fob and allow the rear door to be opened.

Not all Alphies have a powered tailgate; try the dash switch to check.
