Adrian Flux - £350 for a year fully comp with only £100 excess.
Happy days 😊

You must have caught them on a good day ! They were by far the most expensive I had a quote from. And their APR was 40 per cent; so I hope you are not paying monthly. Also the actual underwriter was unknown to me.

At the age of 82 I find many insurance companies have written me off as uninsurable for an Alphard 2.4. The only positive company quoted £1900.

Anyone overcome this problem?

I expect to pay a premium but !!!

Hi all, just had a quote from Lifesure of £270. Full protected NCD and parked on driveway. Alphad 2.4s 2008 fully converted camper. I do have my house insurance with them so that may be why. Good luck all.😎

Many thanks for your prompt reply, much appreciated. The main stumbling block appears to be the age factor (82).
After the age of 75 many insurance companies, regardless of fitness, past insurance history (60 yrs m/ bike & car no claims) are determined to curtail

life and pleasure for the elderly. The statistics do not appear to justify their approach.

You would think that the older more experience the driver the cheaper it gets. Hope you find a good deal. Happy motoring 😎😎Hi all, just had a quote from Lifesure of £270. Aviva will insure an Alphard (mine is a 2006 MZ) but they won't insure it if you get it converted !

I went with Scenic, part of LV group; although there is a ceiling on the value of camper they will insure.

I may get a quote from Lifesure, as recommended by Ian24.

I've just insured my 2nd Gen 2.4 Hybrid with NFU Mutual.  Most companies don't list Alphards made after 2008 and won't consider models not on their database, but NFU Mutual were happy to cover it.  Price was £340 for 10K miles pa, 65yr old, in a rural area, SD&P only.

The best thing is that they answer the phone straight away, no hanging on the line for ever, being told your call is important. I would pay extra for that!

Received Email for LV (Liverpool Victoria) car insurance

They no longer insure Alphard imports, and they will not renew my insurance.

Try Scenic, it's a subsidiary of LV, specialising in conversions.

Churchill were fine for a few months after changeover, then suddenly said they weren't renewing. It took a week to find out why. They said it's because the car is an import. Ours is a 2.4. They said they would insure a 3 litre because that was made and sold in the UK. No amount of arguing would convince them otherwise. Because of the advice on here we quickly got insurance with Aviva. Less than £300 Thanks guys!

Hi Jenny,

Seems like Churchill have got themselves confused.

Just be aware I was with Aviva until I informed them of my rear conversion. Kaput !

Have you converted ? If so, beware.

No we're not converted but thanks!

Hello All

Thanks for all the info on insurance, it was most useful. We have a 2008 2.4 V fully converted. Went with Lifesure. £365, full NCD + protection and legal. Also internal kit. My wife as named driver. They seemed to know what they're talking about.

Adrian Flux wanted £475. Carole Nash would not insure us as it was not registered as a Motor Home, but Private Light Goods.

Happy motoring.

Just spoken to a representative at Mark Richard’s (Jap cover), told initially they will not insure anything smaller than an 8 seater 🤷🏼‍♂️, then told they might, found the representative very unhelpful.

Silly really, as the 7 and 8 seaters are extremely similar; especially all key dimensions !

ps. They never got back to me when I called them.

Lifesure didn’t want to insure me…7734D243-0640-4769-B88D-FFA41207E5A5.jpeg.4ce3cb2cb35c7c6da7312035e48f41b9.jpeg

Hi Arthur,

Serves you right for converting that Bentley Bentayga !

Seriously, if you do have a conversion try Scenic, part of LV; but they do have a maximum insured value (and your Bentley is sure to exceed it).

If only :)

It’s unconverted, but also still unregistered, and annoyingly I have 0 no-claims due to a hit and run on my other car last year. Hopefully they’ll be able to shave a few tens off that once I get my V5
