General Club Meet - October 2nd 2022 - British Motor Museum

Recommended Posts

Official Alphard & Vellfire Club Event
British Motor Museum (Gaydon)
Sunday 2nd October 2022 - 10am

Due to the popularity of the British Motor Museum, we have managed to find a slot for the inaugural general club meet on Sunday the 2nd of October 2022. The location of the event is ideally located at Gaydon, 2 mins off the M40 between London and Birmingham. This makes it easier access for many members to join us on our first event.

We also floated the idea of having a gathering on each side of the motorway and all join in a convoy drive together in to the event, where we can get some photos and video of the drive. Many members were interested so we will proceed with and coordinate these.

We are looking to gather at least 100 Alphards & Vellfires to join us on this great day and be part of the largest Alphard & Vellfire gathering.

The British Motor Museum can hold up to 500 cars, so we have plenty of room. During the day we will have access to the Museum which is a really interesting car museum for the family, plus there is a cafe where you can purchase lunch or beverages and have access to facilities so you and the family will have plenty to see and do.

Entrance fee to the museum for the club is just £10 per head (usually £16) and even if the day is wet we can still have a good get together. We shall try and obtain a Gazebo and also there will be free club stickers to be had. So all should be a good day out and meet loads of other like-minded members.

We'll be there if we ever get out of Scotland, poor van has hybrid issues, no garage in Wales would touch it so we're back where we bought it...enjoying Falkirk on foot 😆

Yes, I am certainly interested. Will confirm nearer the date.

I wonder if you have considered a different venue for another year. The Newark Show ground, in previous years has been the venue of Americana. This has not been held for a few years, but has been organised again for this year in early September. I have previously attended this when I had an interest in TVRs , and the club had a meet there.  There is ample room to meet in conjunction with other organisers, an there is plenty going on. Just a thought for 2023. Camping available, and indoor cover if required.

Kind Regards

SOUTH WEST CONVOY?

Guys are any attendees travelling up the M5 from Bristol and below or South Wales?

Just thinking we could at one of the Services to drive up together?

How about Strensham, which will collect any M5 and M50 attendees?

With the upcoming JDM Coombe, at Castle Coombe Circuit on 9th July, it may be opportune to advertise the Gaydon meet for owners who are not yet on this forum?

Is there a flyer readily available?

Is there any further info on camping over the night before… is this still an option?

yes it can be an option but we need someone to take lead of this part of the event, especially someone who will be staying there as well. Once we have all these options we can start announcing them

What a strange reply? So are we saying anyone on this forum should not join FB events?

I admit, as a newbie, I may have missed any previous disagreements or splits between groups.

However, surely we are all owners/enthusiasts so better to join/advertise each others events?

Sorry Rob, i think we have wires crossed.

We are not in any disagreements with the other group, in fact i am friends with the owner and i also partake in the group. But to go to their meet and start handing out leaflets is something I feel we cannot do. I am all for building up our own event and not springboard from someone else's group.

I hope it makes sense from my point. However, that doesn't stop people talking about it.

Cheers mate

Thats fine. Just that on other forums I am involved with, there were long standing disputes between forums, hence some on-line and others on FB.

Is there any way that locations of members could be added to the list, as if there are wagons travelling up from the South West we may be able to put another convoy together?

@Alphard Club I have spoken to Katie at New Acre and she welcomes the advertising of other meets, so I have posted a link to this.

There were 25 wagons on the stand at JDM Coombe yesterday and some I spoke to wanted to know more about this meet.

This is great Rob. We are at 65 at the moment. We will start doing a big push in august and a harder push throughout september as people will then have an idea if they are available on that date. Looking good so far

Fingers crossed we get 100.

If so maybe a commemorative decal would be in order?

Great, maybe Gloucester Services, or could meet at Gordano if you need LPG?

Sounds good. We’re on the expensive dinosaur juice, so no need for LPG for us, but happy to meet at either of others are coming and have a need.
