Now having owned  T2 camper the question of what awning is one that can go on forever. So lets start with does anyone recommend one that they have used/attached to their Alphard? I have 2 previously used on my T2 , one side and one for rear, and will feed back if suitable for the Alphard as soon as I get the opportunity.

Never used them.  We are still at the point where it's the whole family and not just myself and my wife.  But we have a company we look after who deal and sort out conversions to all vehicles to campers.  So will be going with them when it's time.

 

So please let us know what is good and what is not.

Now here is a dilemma, if you have a rear kitchen then you use the side doors for entry and exit so do you get an awning to cover the rear and hence the cooking area or do you get a side awning so that you have cover in the event of rain whilst getting in and out and leave the kitchen area without a cover. Alternatively you need 2. My present way of thinking is a side awning (drive away) and simple cover to extend the coverage offered by the open rear hatch when cooking.

Life's a compromise so don't take it too serious.

The boot will keep you dry anyway, use it all the time in the rain with the kids. They climb over abd i can stick their rain coat on. So as you will be mainly lounging about than cooking then i say side door.

Hi I have an Alphard rear conversion. I toyed with rear or side. I chose a side Kampa Motuin air awning. I got an awning rail fitted and it goes in a treat. We put the Porta Potti in the bit between Van and actual enclose area of Awning. Its great only wish we had waiting until the 2019 version as it now has an extension annexe that can be fitted for more room. We bought a trespass even shelter as we like to cook out away from the Van. Got an electric type slow cooker and a single hob burner works brilliant for us. Even tent works as kitchen and socialising if raining.

I’m new this year to campers and the Alphard family , I’m interested in the comment you made about having an awning tail fitted to your Alphard, we’ve tried a magnetic one which doesn’t fit very well with our Olpro awning and was wondering where you got your awning rail from ?

I have fitted these on different conversions, Mazda Bongo, VW Transporter, Vivaro, transit.  I will be Installing an 'L shape' side conversion in my Alphard  and one of these for the drive away
