Seized engine 2GR-FE

Featured Replies

Hi everyone, our converted Vellfire 2008 model overheated and seized while on a holiday to Portugal. Not sure if repairable or in need for a new engine. Was wondering if anyone knows a recommended specialist who could look into it and either repair or replace the engine? I live in Lancashire.

Thanks in advance! Nick

The Vellfire is in storage somewhere in the middle of Spain. Green Flag are organising repatriation back to the UK so ideally I need a specialist garage in Lancashire. Thanks again

Hi there!

Lancashire is a jolly big County!

I'm in Stockport, and luckily we do have one local to us, but that could be a LONG way from the top of Lancashire County.

I can offer a suggestion while you speak to any engineering companies nearer to you.

The 3.5 fitted to ours is also fitted to a good number of other Toyota and Lexus models, so it is not a rarity in the UK. They would know this.

Whilst proper companies for engine work are rarer than they used to be, I would hope you'd find one not a million miles from you.

Cheers, Nev

It's also fitted to a number of Lotus models. So just possibly there might be a Lotus specialist near you. I don't know whether they will expect you to pay Lotus prices however!

Thanks Nev, am actually based not far from Stockport, just at the end of M66. Any suggestions would be welcome as at the moment the only garage that is willing to help is in Scotland!!

Ah, in that case, they are Princess Engineering Autos, 161 Barlow Road, Levenshulme, Manchester.

They've been around a long time, father then son. My garage man, more of a friend, sadly now retired, who I've known for 26 years, knew them from their early days, and used them. They do have a website.

I used them on my Renault Master van, when the plastic cam cover cracked and spewed oil, (used to be a common Renault problem).

I was nervous about the injectors coming out, but they said "why wouldn't they come out?" Obviously gave me a bit of confidence!

They did the job on the day and with no mither.

Cheers!
