AC Compressor

Featured Replies

Hi all.

I've just been told by my garage that I need to find a new ac compressor

for my 2004 Alphard (hybrid). I think this is going to be a challenge - Any help

or guidance RE where I might find one would be appreciated!

THANKS.

It looks like you will need to search around for 88320-28350 (or 88320-28410) but check with amayama.com first with your vehicle details to make sure you get the correct number - or if you can find the part number on the one in your vehicle that is another route.

After that try ebay or similar (https://www.autodoc.co.uk/car-parts/oem/8832028350) for one, or someone scrapping an alphard.

Hope this helps

Hey Gamith,

Thanks for the info.

The garage just told me that the part number for the compressor is 88310-58010,

so this might not work! But I'll forward it to them to have a look.

Thanks again,

Carly

If that's what's on the existing one then go with that, but if not (i.e. they have looked up a similar, but not the same vehicle) then there could well be several options - I am not an expert by any means hence the putting your vehicle details into amayama.com to check.

I have noticed one easy difference between the two numbers we have so far - one has 7 grooves and the other has 8, so a check of the installed one, or it's belt, could give you some confirmation.

Good luck.

I hope that helps.

@Gamith your picture is for the non hybrid ANH10, the hybrid ATH10 uses the 88310-58010 or 88310-58011 - see picture. Amayama say it's no longer available from Toyota. I think the best bet is from a scrapyard vehicle. Check eBay (also for people breaking hybrids) and also ZenMarket for getting a used one from Japan.

Hey all,
This is all very helpful - thanks.
With a lot of research and tips from ai!
I think that I can use the part: 88310-58011 instead of 88310-58010 (which I can't find anywhere).

The Amayama catalogue shows 88310-58010 used up to approximately May 2004 and 88310-58011
thereafter on the same ATH10W Alphard Hybrid platform.

Does anyone know if this will work/ tried it?

(fingers crossed).

Yes, Amayama shows (SUBS) on the second line which means the 58011 is a substitute for the 58010 in 07.2003 to 05.2004 vehicles. It's an official substitution so I would expect this to work. When they did the substitution I expect they ran through remaining stocks of the 58010 and then discontinued it.

(we don't know why the part number was changed, could just be something like they moved production to a different factory/supplier and changed the part number as a result. Or maybe there was some flaw in the original part and they made a new improved version)

If you have a source for the 58011 (maybe not Toyota, as Amayama says it's discontinued) then I'd got with that.

Awesome - Thanks so much. I'll go ahead and buy this part then.

My compressor on my 2005 hybrid went faulty. I tried the usual route as the above comments and it was always out of stock or discontinued. The last price showing was £1500. I managed to get one from a scrapper from Jap Car Spares Coventry (Ebay) for just over £300 and it worked fine when fitted. You could also try Nippon in Derby as they specialise in JDM spares Japanese Car Parts UK | Nippon Auto Spares & Breakers

Thanks @PaulE I went ahead and brought a refurb 58011 (sub for the 58010)

from Ebay, hoping it works, if not I'll have a look here. Thanks a lot!

  • 2 weeks later...

Aftermarket brand new are available on Aliexpress for less than £300. There would be some duty to pay on top.

Hey @smurf pls can you send me a link?

Thanks!

I found this one by entering the Toyota part number, but it is more expensive than just a few weeks ago. There may be cheaper ones on AliExpress, but I didn't go looking.

There are a number on Alibaba too:

https://www.alibaba.com/search/page?spm=a2700.product_home_fy25.home_login_first_screen_fy23_pc_search_bar.searchButton&SearchScene=proSearch&SearchText=88310-58011&pro=true&from=pcHomeContent

eg:

https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/Auto-6SEU16C-AC-Compressor-for-Toyota_1601943036211.html

The deal on Alibaba is that you have to message the seller and ask for a shipping quote, so I wouldn't believe the prices they show until you have a firm all-in quote. It's better to buy from a seller with Trade Assurance as there's slightly less chance of them ripping you off (you don't get UK consumer protection although you may be able to use Section 75 - always pay on a credit card).

When the parcel lands in the UK you'll have to pay a courier handling fee (£12.50 for Parcel Force), possibly a few percent import duty, and then 20% VAT on everything.
