Bulb changed on AFS headlights.

Featured Replies

Hi all. I’ve just changed my bulbs on my velly and slightly knocked the projector part which the bulb goes into. Will this recalibrate on its own to centralise the beam pattern or is something I need to get adjusted? Thanks in advance

Hi G,

yep, it will sort itself out, well at least mine did, and I moved it a LOT!

Yeah mine seem to have sorted themselves out. However upon driving to work tonight the afs light was flashing. So I parked up again and restated the car they did the up down left right sweep they usually do and no light flickering. I’ll have to see what it’s like in the morning.

Update. So the afs is off however started flashing after around 10 minutes of driving. Anyone have an ideas?

Hiya!

All the book says is that "there may be a malfunction in the system", not all that helpful hey!

However, previously in the same section covering the AFS, Adaptive Front Lighting System, not Auto Follow System, there is a paragraph about the light sensor on the dash -

"The sensor may not function properly if an object is placed on the sensor, or anything that blocks the sensor is affixed to the windscreen.

Doing so interferes with the sensor detecting the level of ambient light and may cause the automatic headlight system to malfunction"

Do you have anything on the dash?

Are your headlights set to "auto" on the light stalk? Maybe try it switched "ON" not auto, worth a try!

Cheers!

Also use a JOBD reader to see what codes come up.

I really appreciate you looking into that. I took the new bulbs out and reinstalled them. No afs light flashing now. I think I either didn’t connect them correctly or the wiring was obstructing the lense to stop it rotating.

Thanks again

No problem mate!

Jolly glad it's now gone back to being a lovely cooperative little thing!

Cheers, Nev
