looks nice, but i really like the functionality of the original cameras, they are perfectly calibrated for reversing into spaces and kerbside parking, and the guidelines work flawlessly..

SO we need a modern HD screen like this, but with the inputs for the OEM parking assist ecu.

Yes, I value those front and rear cameras too. Very useful.

There was a thread on here recently where a member had fitted his own (simple) roof bars.

His implementation used existing tapped holes in the body.

IMHO his method was very clever.

Search for roof rack or roof rails on here. (top rhs of lead page)

    It was a recent post

    Search for Terry33.

    Hi

Anyone know if any way we can fit a roof rack into the Alphard.

You can buy the full kit from Japan but it's very expensive

    Thanks

    Hi Chris,

I have been checking the EPC (again and again).

I had been focusing on trying to find a standard unit that fitted across all Gen 1.

    Silly really.

Now, after your prompting, I can see there are 5 options for my model year.

I'll get my Google Translate on it tomorrow. Try and decipher the variants !

  5. Thanks again Chris,

You are so helpful, and so reliable.

    I am kicking myself.

I cannot believe I overlooked this.

I saw the asterisk 3 and ignored it, poor concentration !

Must have been another late night.

I have looked for markings before, without any real success.

Most is hidden by the strut itself.

However, now I know what I am looking for, I'll look again.

At £25 spent I'm not too bothered about it.

I'll look for markings and get on Amayama.

    Thanks, once again.

I'll contact my local, very friendly, Toyota dealer.

I did check the online EPC for ANH10 and MNH10 and ANH20.

I'll check again. I thought I checked properly and they were all the same !

No hurry. It works fine I just would like more headroom.

It could be the lifting motor becoming 'tired'

According to the Toyota Alphard Handbook that came with my 3.0 V6, Super Unleaded is the recommended fuel.

    Hi Gag,

Yes. this discussion is about which unleaded to use.

There are two. E5 which is the old Super Unleaded.

It's expensive, but should be risk free.

The other is E10, a new fuel introduced in September 2021.

There is a large difference of opinion on whether this fuel is harmful to engines and or engine accessories in the longer term.

Firstly, I want to say Hi to everyone as I am a new Alphard owner and member of the forum.

I recently purchased an Alphard after many years with a number of Toyota Estima imports. Unfortunately the parts for my 1994 Estima were no longer produced by Toyota and it finally died having done almost 300,000 miles.

    On to the Alphard…

    1.  Keys:  Does anyone know which key chip is needed for a 2004 model vehicle?  Ideally I want a four button remote:  Lock/Unlock/LeftDoor/RightDoor

    2.  Fuses:  The actuator motor that release the sliding doors isn’t working. I’ve bought new motors from Ben Alphard in Birmingham but I just wondered if there is a fuse to check first before stripping down the doors?  The electric sliding function works, it is just the catch which doesn’t release.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

    Hello Lucky,

    Welcome to the Forum.

    300,000 miles, Wow.

My brother had a Toyota, 250,000, without any engine work.

    Much hope for my Alphie.

    They slide doors are fused.

Fuse 2, by the drivers seat.

It also feeds the sonors and ECU. So if they work it can't be that one.

Fuse 15, behind the passenger side glove box (which can be removed very easily).

The fuse box is a pig to get to.

It also feeds ABS and cruise control, so if they operate OK ....

I don't know which fuse, if any, feeds the releasing mechanism.

    Ben Hau will know.

    The keys.

I bought a transponder key, as you described, from eBay. About £15.

Of course, you will need to get it programmed. Not as easy as it should be.

As they van is a grey import, it is unlikely that a Toyota dealer will get involved.

Mine was programmed by a local locksmith. £80 !

The Alphard uses a different frequency than most vehicles.

Fit for Toyota Alphard 05-09 Remote Car Key Fob with 4D67 Chip 314.3MHz 4 Buttons.

This worked fine for me, but my van is 2006.

I don't know that it is suitable for the pre facelift model you have.

    Good Luck.

    Hello,

    Welcome to the Forum.

Sorry your first post is so worrying.

there are several codes for the struts, translating it looks like the code for power back door is different to unpowered

Thanks Chris, that explains it. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

I need to look at the drawings again !

I only bought them as someone else (on here) had said how good they were; perfect fit !

Maybe they didn't have a powered door. Do you ?

The 'quality' does look very good.

    Thanks for your help.   Roger

I am currently in discussions with a UK manufacturer of gas struts.

I am looking to replace my tail gate struts as my gate operation is rather jerky and does not open fully.  I have a Gen 1 facelift.

I have supplied approximate dimensions, and received an estimated price.

I would be extremely grateful if any member could provide me with an unwanted strut. I'll pay the postage.

Condition is not important, but the item needs to be dimensionally intact.

In my opinion, although these are not as inexpensive as some sourced from a well known foreign ebay type business. They are considerably less costly than Toyota OEM parts.

Feel free to send a PM if you prefer.

I will not be selling these items, or acting as an agent; but will disclose the supplier (if it all pans out).

Progress was slow with the UK supplier who insisted on having an example to work with.

Unfortunately I was not willing to be without a tailgate mechanism.

So I bought from a well know ebay supplier.

The parts I bought are for a Gen 2, I have a Gen 1 facelift.

I did check the part numbers on the EPC for both vehicles. Identical; so I ordered some.

They don't fit. Fittings look OK but length is about 4 inches too short.

The bore of the larger tube is also about 4 inches too short.

Fortunately they were only £25 or so.

I will try and return them. It will be interesting to see how 'helpful' the vendor is.

    Hi Crewey,

    Welcome to the Forum.

I think you will find most companies regard their files as proprietary and will be unwilling to supply them.

From their point of view, what is to stop you setting up in competition to them.

You could get involved in non disclosure agreements, etc, and so on.

If I were them, it isn't worth the trouble.

However there may be DIY persons who can, and are willing to supply drawings.

    Possibly digital, probably not.

I'm jealous, just a newbie with TWO Alphies already.

Are you aware of Romahome / NorthStar in Cowes ?

    Good Luck

  13.

Do you intend to have it converted at a later date ?

Which model is a very difficult question as we all have our favourites for a variety of reasons.

With your budget, you will probably be looking at what is known as a Gen 1 facelift model. 2005 to mid 2008.

You may be able to get an Gen 2 model, but prices for all Alphard, and Vellfire, model are increasing as their popularity soars.

Location of a competent mechanic is key whatever model you decide on. IMHO, this is especially vital if you opt for a Hybrid.

Most Toyota Dealerships will not work on grey imports.

    Some will, most won't.

If buying privately, I would recommend an AA or RAC type inspection for piece of mind.

If from a dealer, make sure you understand any limits within the warranty.

Good Luck, but you are not likely to need it as these are great vehicles.
