  1. OK I did it anyway. Quite easy. Remove the wiper arms and take off the scuttle panel (all plastic clips that push out from underneath. Using a door card removal tool (with some kind of padding underneath the fulcum to avert any risk of scratching the screen) prise up the old mouldings. The fasteners will break when you do this so you will need to carefully pick out the broken bits from the retaining clips or you will not be able to fit the new mouldings. I cleaned up the area under the mouldings and scuttle panel and applied a little ACF50. There's no need to do this but it made me happy! The little bit of lubrication also made it easier for the new mouldings to press into the retaining clips. Press the new mouldings into place. Replace scuttle panel and wipers. Job done.
  2. For clarity, this is the part I'm talking about: https://www.japeurocarparts.co.uk/buy-front-windscreen-glass-moulding-drip--lh-86810-2195-2122-0-d There's one each side of the screen.
  3. Has anyone ever done this? The ones on my Alphard have dried up and cracked (presumably from exposure to hot sunlight in Japan), so I've purchased two more. However they look like they'd be easy to break if mishandled, so if anyone's got any info/experience on changing them then I'd love to hear it.
  4. £100. Good condition. Collection near junction 9 of the A14.
  5. Video walkaround on Youtube I've put a video walkaround as I thought that would be better than pictures.
  6. OK no problem. She reckons they are still there and will bring them to me tomorrow afternoon. I'll confirm when I've got them. Cheers.
  7. I've messaged my ex. If it's still there I'll go and collect it, bring it to my house and take some fresh pictures to ensure there are no crossed wires - it's a long way to come to find out it's missing something.
  8. They are very heavy! Would it be better to remove the bits you wanted and bin the rest? It would seem a shame to do that as you might need other spares in the future. Maybe if you look on the website shiply you can find someone who will pick them up and drop them to your for sensible money?
  9. OK I'll ask her. Would you want to pick them up, or get them posted?
  10. Don't worry about that. Do you want me to find out if they are there?
  11. Unless my ex-wife has thrown them out, then yes they will be.
  12. Hi Chris. Yes it is. I haven't advertised it anywhere, as I don't really want it to go because I love it so much. It just doesn't make any sense to keep it, so I'm quite torn. I'll put some photos up on the web shortly and send you a link. Cheers, Mark.
  13. Hi Larry. I bought the suspension parts and my local garage swapped them over. There's nothing fancy about the suspension so any competent garage can change it. The money goes into getting the parts!
  14. I got the key and programmed it, but I've been quoted over £50 by a locksmith to cut the key blade to match the existing one. Seems very high to me. Where did you get yours done? Cheers.
  15. If you care about the car it's an absolute essential. Japan does not salt their roads (they use antifreeze spray) and consequently they don't need to underseal their cars.
  16. I guess the only person who could answer that is someone who has used both.
  17. Unfortunately I've just separated from my wife, which has changed my car requirement significantly: I no longer need 7 seats and I'll be doing a lot more in the way of shorter journeys. My Alphard is black, with 52k miles on it. It has twin electric doors, twin sunroofs, 7 seats (although the 7th seat is for slim people only I would say!) custom trimmed in peanut leather, a good soundsystem with oversized touch screen head unit, and a games console setup for the kids, front and rear cameras, cruise control, auto lights, AFS, the Plasmacluster Ionisation system, 20 inch wheels, and probably a load more stuff that I haven't thought of. All new standard suspension was fitted at great expense a few months back, as the car came from Japan on coilovers which were too stiff for my liking. It's also been rustproofed by Before'n'after in Rugby, and was given a lifetime guarantee, because the condition of the car was so good. Negatives: the previous owner must have had really acidic sweaty hands, because the leather section at the top of the steering wheel has been become discoloured. Also I've managed to scuff the alloys a bit when parking too 😞. I've also only got one key. There's a guy down Worcester way who can supply extra keys for a couple of hundred quid. I just haven't got around to driving down there to see him yet. I'm absolutely gutted to sell it, but owning it in my current circumstances just doesn't make any sense at all, and if I'm anything, I'm boringly sensible. I'd take £11.5k for it and I'm confident the new owner will be as happy with it as I am - it's an awesome vehicle. If there's any interest I can upload some pictures. Cheers all.
  18. Interesting topic, thanks. I bought the proper Toyota Techstream software and cable for £40 off of ebay. As you can imagine, it can configure every feature of the car. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/124808047632
  19. You can just stick a bit of wire in the pins of the OBD connector, but I bought a plug off of ebay for a fiver and soldered pins 4 and 8 together.
