  7. Catloc is Sold Secure Gold rated. The only snag is that they don't have a model specific for the Alphard.   8. That would be great thank you. If someone does have the data that's great. If not I was envisioning a gradual collection of people confirming (hopefully) what tool works with what vehicle. I for one can only contribute one line of the table but over time we should be able to cover all model years, engines and variants. Actually I found another confirmation that the ANCEL JP700 works with 2006 2.4L. So there's two lines already.
  9. I Googled around and bought the Ancel JP700 reader. This works for my 2.4L 2003 in as much as it seems to connect at least and offers to Read and Erase codes which is the most I can expect I think. Note that I don't have the MIL illuminated right now so I don't have any codes to read or erase but I'm 99% confident this will work if I do. I think what might be useful is a compatibility table (MY and engine against OBD hardware) to help others in future. I guess only admins can set that up.

  13. Thanks but it's not for the want of reading. There's so many tried and failed devices mentioned I can't see the wood for the trees, some work for 3L and not for 2.4L and so on. Hence the direct appeal. Needless to say that searching for "OBD2 AND 2.4 AND 2003" yields 0 results.

  15. Hello, I've tried my Autel AL319 OBD tool but it says 'Link Error' after cycling through all the protocols. Clearly some OBD tools are more compatible with Alphards than others. Can anyone recommend an OBD tool that definitely works with the 2003 model please? Thank you very much.
  16. I don't see adverts in Chrome, Firefox or Edge. Pop-ups aren't blocked on Firefox and I haven't (consciously) added any blockers. Possibly some extension might have got installed in your browser by accident?
  17. Hello, It's not factory fit but was installed professionally in February '22. It's the XTRONS PSA60HGT and unfortunately I can't recommend it. I'm still in discussions with the fitters about various issues so don't wish to say much more publicly until concluded in order to give them a fair chance to resolve them.   20. Hello, I've used Brodit ProClip phone holders in other cars but they don't have one for an Alphard. Has anybody found a satisfactory way to mount their phone on the dashboard please? Ideally it would be for 2003 model. Thank you very much.
  21. Thanks for the advice but if we were just chasing mpg we should buy the more expensive E5 fuel according Mike's results, not the cheapest fuel. This is in line with the theory that E5 is more energy dense. Personally I'm trying to decide if E10 is worth it by balancing the higher extra cost of E5 against greater peace of mind and anecdotal reports of better performance with E5. For that I need to know the cost-per-mile figure of the two fuels, all other things being equal.
  22. Thank you for that Mike. Will post my results when I've done enough driving. I think I agree with your conclusion. A modest increase (2%) in the pence per mile cost of E5, is totally worth it given the peace of mind that there's no possibility of fuel system damage and likely better performance. Let's hope my 2.4L shows the same results. Cost for 63L Miles driven Pence per mile E10 £86.31 270 32.0 E5 £91.35 280 32.6 E5 vs. E10 increase 6% 4% 2%
  23. My convertor moved the bolt hole from its original location rearward toward the tailgate strike plate. I just remove the trim panel covering the strike plate bolts with my hands and the spare wheel bolt is exposed.
