  1. In that case I doubt there is a problem with the incoming vehicle speed signal. Usually a single signal is used to update both speedo and odometer but I'm not certain of that so am prepared to be corrected. It could be that the instrument cluster speedo motor is broken. Also if it runs well and changes gear at the right times that too suggests the gearbox speed sensors are OK in my view. Has your OBD reader arrived?
  2. Just for reference, the manual says the sonar system should start working under 50cm. At 25cm the lights and buzzer should be continuously on.
  3. I think you posted an engine warning light problem thread before. The advice then was to buy an OBD reader. Did you get one in the end?
  4. Agreed. That one works in my 2003 2.4L.
  5. The first step is to get the P-Code causing the MIL illumination. You need to get an JOBD reader. The Ancel JP700 is pretty much guaranteed to work.
  6. Many thanks. I will do the same as my reflector fell out too.
  7. Thanks for this. Do you mean you bought them direct from a local Toyota dealer?
  8. I bought Techstream v18 with MVCI cable off eBay and wanted to share my (rather limited) success. I am able to connect by selecting 0205-0401 (May 2002 to Jan 2001). It reads DTCs and live data* from only 3 ECUs: Engine, ABS and Immobilizer. This in itself is not surprising for a 20 year old car where there is no CAN bus. I think diagnostics for anything other than emissions related ECUs was in its infancy. *Even with the Engine ECU, I can read data but only one snapshot. After a few seconds I get a dialogue saying lost communication with vehicle with error code 0xA1050308: The error logs don't really give much detail. 1) Has anybody encountered this "Lost comms with vehicle" for any Alphard MY? Have you solved it please? 2) Has anybody with an 2002/2003 2.4L vehicle been able to communicate with ECUs other than the ones listed above? Thank you very much.
  9. Thanks for following up and letting people know what the resolution was. I too use the Ancel model you mention. I've had not much success with Techstream but will post separately on that.
  10. There's AutoCAD drawing available here for just $5 https://cad-block.com/689-toyota-alphard.html
  11. The fuel pump itself is fuse 8 (EFI) 15A in the engine bay but the fuel pump relay is in the passenger side cabin fuse box, fuse 22, IGN, 10A. More fuse info here:
  12. That's good advice, thank you. Seat belts it is then.
  13. In our rear conversion camper, one thing that’s not quite right for us is the bed arrangements. We use the two middle seats opened out as shown in the photos below. The issue with these is that we have to carry foam fillers to level out the seats and meet the height of the kitchen bench padding. The foam is bulky and a bit of a pain. One idea I had was to replace the two Toyota seats with a bench seat, i.e. with flat foam padding. I guess it can be described as a 2/3’s rock n roll bed. The bench seat would always face backwards and attach to the existing moveable rails so the seat can be slid backwards and forwards. We don’t carry passengers in the seats so seat belts not needed. Has anybody come across such a bench seat that might work as described please? Many thanks.
  14. This is the cheapest I could find. https://toyotadxb.com/spare-parts/toyota/mirror-outer-lh-8796158011/
  15. Good to know it's gone. Mine is a camper and I usually take it for a drive every four weeks or so even during off season. Will help prevent your issue and others I imagine.
  16. Here's a collection of engine workshop materials for both 2.4L and 3.0L (1MZ-FE) this time from the Camry: https://www.tcamanual.com/toyota_camry_service_manual-489.html
  17. Strange though. Doesn't look like a typical drain plug. Hmmm....
  18. On second thoughts this looks like the the oil sump pan. I thought the close-up showed a red tint to the fluid which would be transmission but no. Here's the picture from the Camry 3.0L Service Manual: https://www.tcamanual.com/oil_pump_assy_1mz_8722_fe_3mz_8722_fe_-754.html
  19. The red light is oil pressure warning rather than oil level. You could have full oil but low pressure due to oil pump failure for example. I wouldn't drive it any further until you've confirmed it is the pressure sensor. When you say "go off" you mean after you've cycled the ignition? The MIL, once illuminated, should not extinguish by itself unless you cycle the ignition. If the fault still remains it will come back on.
  20. The 2.4L shares an engine with the RAV4 so thought these links might come in handy: https://www.trav4.net/2az_fe_engine_mechanical-349.html https://www.trav4.net/2az_fe_ignition-505.html https://www.trav4.net/2az_fe_charging-523.html https://www.trav4.net/2az_fe_emission_control-546.html https://www.trav4.net/2az_fe_exhaust-554.html https://www.trav4.net/2az_fe_lubrication-564.html https://www.trav4.net/2az_fe_fuel-557.html
  21. Even if you open them manually? It must still think the windows in the doors are open.
  22. Mass Air Flow sensor. It's just downstream of the air filter.
