Hi all Sorry if this has been asked and answered before. My 2009 has very weak headlights, so I'm thinking of replacing them with LED lights. Does anybody know the type Also my high beams have ballast connected. One side packed in so I purchased a replacement set, exact same spec but the connections are loose and they keep playing up, wo I would like to change these for LED high beams that I can plug directly into. Thanks in advance

There are two ways of finding what it is. 1. Press it and look around at everything to see if anything changes. 2. Pull the switch out and try and follow the cable. On some cars people have put a switch into the brake signal wire so they can watch TV while driving -
I have found two cables behind the head unit. Im assuming they are antenna connections. Can anybody confirm this and if so, which is which

Just in case anybody is interested. I was looking at parts and came across somebody selling the stalks for an Alphard / Vellfire. It looks like they have the rear fog light switch on the indicator stalk. I know you can plug it is. Im not looking to spend the money on this for the amount of time I use my fogs, but somebody might be interested. COLUMN SWITCHES TOYOTA VELLFIRE VELFIRE 2015-2018 Indicator Wiper Light Stalks | eBay

I hope it recovered in one piece. I guess now they are more popular and with parts being rare, the idiots are out to try and make some money. -
Is this cable to the roof screen
Voodoo101 replied to Voodoo101's topic in Toyota Alphard & Vellfire Club Forum (2008 - 2015)
Thanks. I thought that, but I tested with 12volts and as long as white was negative, it didnt matter if you used brown or red on positive, the screen still sparked into life, so I just used two cables. It turns off when it is closed and on when you open it. It will probably never get used, it was just annoying me not working -
Is this cable to the roof screen
Voodoo101 replied to Voodoo101's topic in Toyota Alphard & Vellfire Club Forum (2008 - 2015)
No the screen is wired to the ignition. It turns on when you open it and then shuts off when close it. The only problem I had was my head unit feeds out HDMI but the screen has an RCA. Ended up having to run a USB socket to plug in a convertor Not the greatest picture and the fact I can only mirror the front screen is not great, but it was there doing nothing and people in the back can stop keep asking me how long till we get somewhere lol -

In answer to my own question, as nobody else seems to know. The red is positive, the white and brown are negative. The white plug does not seem to do anything. Wiring the positive and negative give it power, adding a video feed shows a picture -

I found a cable hanging behind my head unit (a Sony aftermarket unit) that looks like somebody has cut the plug off. It looks after market with the sleeving and it has a phone connector. I followed it back to under the passenger seat where I expected it to be plugged into a box, but it connects to another connector and looks like its been tapped off an orginal cable. I know its not the reversing camera, I dont have an amp or a front camera (that I can see), so I am assuming it goes to the roof monitor that has never been working, Can somebody confirm and if so it has 3 wires, a red, white and brown. I am assuming that it is positive, negative and acc, but could be wrong. Anyone shed any light on it and what the white plug is for. Thanks in advance

Just pull it hard from the bottom. It will lossen and then work your way up. Dont pull it all the way off as there is a plug connected under the pocket, gear shift chrome cover for the light. You should be able to find your lead without unplugging it. -

If its a USB then fit a little socket. I have one for mine, although I use mine to sideload stuff to my Android unit. You can get them off Ebay for cheap, just check the size to make it fit. The one by the 12v socket I made into twin charging ports and ran the lead from the head unit beside the steering wheel. -

I assume you are talking about the 12v socket not the storage box, unless the storage box is stuck. If it is the 12v socket then you just need to removed the head unit / gear shift surround. To remove that press the shift lock button, move to N. Unscrew the shift knob and remove. Open the little storage pouch (dont know why but makes it easier) and then pull up from the bottom, working you way up to free it. You can then get to the back of the 12v socket. Not much to see apart from two wires coming out of the wiring loom going into a white plug. Unless somebody has cut the wires to feed something else, I would more look at the fuse. -
Rear Folding seats center headrest

A lot are missing. I was lucky and found mine when I got the car but never used it. Its still in the back of the seat. But I do keep finding little things about the car, like the stop/start button in the drivers footwell -
So a few years ago I changed the Sony head unit for a cheap chinese Android unit. I never fully wired it in because the person who owned the car before me mashed up the cables. I think they thought the overhead screen cable was for the reversing camera and chopped it to pieces trying to work it. The screen lasted a few weeks before giving up and it was returned at my cost. Note - dont buy cheap chinese android head units. Anyway the old Sony unit went in with a new connection for the rear camera after I found the wire tucked away and got an adaptor, however it was just turned on with the head unit, never the reverse. I did find a 4 pin plug that was lose that had a 12v ign feed, an earth, a cable that was 12v when I use reverse and a 12v for the parking break signal. I now have a new quality android unit and got a new cable for it with a canbus, however there are 2 brown leads, one coming from the head unit loom saying reverse, one coming from the canbus saying back. I have read on the Teyes website (who supplied the canbus), not to connect the reverse lead if its controlled by the canbus because it can cause damage. Anyone fitted an android unit with a canbus? Is the 12v lead needed and if so, where do I connect it to. The canbus lead or the wiring loom? Or do I join "back" lead from the canbus to the "reverse" lead on the head unit loom? On a side note. Is there a way of tapping into the original microphone by the dome light?

I looked at one there when I was looking a few years back. When I took it for a test drive, one of the front wheels joints was broken and the wheel would not run straight. Was told it had been checked and ready to go. I decided then to give them a wide birth
