  1. So mine is a 2009 Vellfire and mine is different. No forget that. I did not know there was a fuse box on the right side aswell lol
  2. I piggybacked on the AC INV fuse for my dashcam. I assumed it was the fuse for the cigarette lighter as I could not see one that said CIG. I don't have an AC Invertor so it could not be one of them. I also have a fuse socket with a fuse in that says 4WD but I don't have 4WD. I am about to add a double USB socket next to the cigarette light to charge up phones, and run a cable down under the centre console to add a double USB socket there, as on my Vellfire there are no sockets there at all.
  3. Unit arrived from China today, came with all cables and looks nice. Will get round to fitting it next week as I am waiting for a DAB usb stick, usb dash socket for the second usb port rather then having a cable stashed somewhere and some usb charging ports to wire to the cigarette lighter socket. Gonna do it all together rather then stripping it all down over and over. When it is done I will get some photos up.
  4. I have a 2009 and that's not on their either, but I found the 2008 and 2010 to look identical.
  5. I wonder if the alarm is an option in Japan, not a standard item, something like metallic paint when you buy a new car in the UK. That is why some cars have it and some dont. If that is the case then it could just be a case of putting the relay in. A lot of manufacturers have standard wiring looms, ect. Its cheaper to make the cars and they just add little things to turn the options on and off. Will have to get the test meter out.
  6. Found this site that has an archive of all the old sales brochures. OK so none are in English, but the pictures are nice. Toyota 2 | Auto Catalog Archive
  7. Thank you for clarifying. TOYOTA VELLFIRE/ALPHARD (2008-2015) COMLETE ROOF RACK BAR SET - MADE IN JAPAN | eBay
  8. There is one on ebay at the moment. Its £455 and says it is for 2008 - 2015. I would post link but was banned from a Facebook group for doing that. Don't know if I am allowed here, but just search toyota alphard roof bar and it will come up
  9. Found this on Youtube. Anybody know if it works of Alphards / Vellfires. I have seen people being able to change settings with an OBD II reader.
  10. The problem I had was getting the cable through the rubber tubing from the van to the tailgate. The connection was a bit big really, but got their in the end. All I want now is some sort of shroud to cover the cables that run from the roof lining at the front, down to the camera. With having two of them its not in my liking. If I had a 3d Printer then I would make something like they have on new cars to hide the sensors.
  11. Thanks. Any idea what the little round thing on the dash is. On a youtube video where the show you how to activate the alarm with the toyota software, the little round thing is the alarm LED.
  12. I was under the assumption that most Alphards / Vellfires have alarms. Mine has an immobiliser but thought I would check the alarm. The dash has what looks like an alarm LED but does not light up. I sat in the car today and locked the doors with the remote. I waited for a time for the alarm to activate then opened the door but nothing. Do these vehicles have and alarm? If so does anybody know if it is deactivated, can you activate it via the ODB carscanner app?
  13. Thought I would share this 1. Year: 2009 2. Model: 2.4l Vellfire 3. Driving: Urban driving, normally stop start though the local councils traffic light system (I'm sure they have shares) 4. MPG: Dial reads 6.5m/l so conversion says 29.55mpg
  14. I also picked up the Viofo A129 Plus Duo front and rear, what a coincidence. I have managed to fix the rear camera on the rear window at the top, directly in the middle. Then I ran the cable under the trim and through the rubber for the other cables. That was the hardest part. Then I went down the driver side behind the trim with the rear seatbelt, along the window trim, through the centre post, then in the door rubber. Then through the drivers door pillar and drivers door rubber, then threaded it behind the curtain airbag and along the windscreen. The excess cable went behind the drivers door pillar. The power cable went the opposite way from the camera, along the windscreen, down the passenger door pillar to the fuse box, where there was two 15amp fuse. One was continuous power (AC INV) and one was ignition (RR WIP), so I piggy backed on them. Trouble is that the cover does not fit, so that is having to be stored safe. The earth was easy as that just attached to the bolt for the trim.
  15. So I am looking to buy a dashcam for my Vellfire 20 and have seen one with front and rear camera, however the rear camera is connected with a cable. What is the best route to run the cable. I was thinking of just going in the roof lining, but don't know how easy it is to get in there. The second option would be to get two separate dashcams and run them independent. If I do that, is there a constant 12v supply in the tailgate that I could run it off? I would rather have the first option if anybody has any idea's.
  16. Thanks for the replies, this makes sense. I do not have an original head unit, it has been replaced with a Sony unit, I am waiting delivery of an android unit but I dont think that will connect up.
  17. I don't mind the Japanese. I just want to know which fuel reading is which. One changes as I drive but the other two seem to stay static. My Merc had one reading that showed the average mpg since day one and one that showed it per journey. Not worked out if the Vellfire has and which one is which.
  18. I was a joke. Never seen a car report about radioactive contamination. My car that I have just bought has been in the country for three years, so I don't think there is much point in me getting it. If I was getting one fresh off the boat then I can see it being good.
  19. Just had a look on Car.vx at the sample report sheet and noticed it has a section stated "Use History", where it says "Use in contaminated regions" and "Radioactive contamination test fail". It sort of put me off having a report incase I find something I dont like.
  20. I just ordered one from Aliexpress. I went for the 6gb ram / 128gb storage option because it was cheaper then the lower spec ones sold in the UK. It says it can run the rear camera, so will let you know when it arrives next month. Car Radio For Toyota Alphard 2008-2021 Rhd Octa Core Android Car Dvd Gps Navigation Car Stereo Carplay Android Auto - Car Multimedia Player - AliExpress Incidentally, I contacted the one on ebay to find the specs and found it was a low spec unit. Its 2gb ram and 32gb storage. Many reviews I read said to go for at least 4gb ram as anything less will struggle with newer apps.
  21. I was looking before I bought my Vellfire. Did not want to have to think about speed in km/h on roads with mph and came across this page. KMH-MPH | IVA Preparation| Speedo Conversions |Speedometer Conversion. Luckily I did not need it.
  22. Thats great thanks. I can get the carscanner app on my Android phone.
  23. Hi James How do you get on with the Veepeak OBD, does it allow you to change the settings. The OBDLink MX+ is about three times the price and in these days fuel being silly prices, every thing I can save on helps. Thanks
  24. Hi Alan My Gen 2 2009 2.4 Vellfire had a chip fitted when I bought it a week ago. It was imported in 2019, so I am the second UK owner. I had the same question on fuel consumption and the reading, so I did some research. The chip not only converts the speedo, it converts the distance travelled to mile, so the odometer reads miles not km. (some places convert the original odometer to miles and then it is a true mileage reading. Some places leave it as KM and then it adds miles, for example, you but a car with 60000km on the dial, then convert it and travel another 10000 miles, the odometer will read 70000 miles) With regards to the fuel consumption gauge, it only knows distance travelled / amount of fuel in litres (this is pre programmed). As the distance travelled is now miles, it now calculates miles per litre. Unfortunately the display cannot be changed as it is digital so it still say km/l. 1m/l = 4.55m/g so if your display is saying 8.4km/l, which is actually 8.4m/l, then you are doing around 38mpg which is good. I have been doing short trips around town and there is a lot of stop start and mine is about 27mpg.
  25. I have them on mine. I'm hoping that at least one of them is for DAB radio lol
