  1. I haven't noticed them coming on when it's dry but I definitely noticed they won't start when the windscreen is already wet and I have to do it manually. It is strange.
  2. From what I read it's was an option installed by Toyota. Never worked for me so I cannot be sure it worked previously. Works for others with the same remote start but that doesn't mean anything.
  3. I did. 359 miles covered on 52 liters. But that's mostly 20 miles school run through Welsh hills. I might get better on a longer flatter run but I'm happy with low 30s as this is what I expected.
  4. Hi all, My Alphard came with a Remote Start but I can not figure out what is wrong with it. When I press "i" I receive information back. The engine is off and the engine temperature. When I press "E" and stop/lock I receive information back. The engine is off, engine temperature and timer. When I press "E" and l start/unlock I receive information back but only the car symbol with an X inside. Any idea why or what is wrong? The car is locked, the gearbox is in P, handbrake is engaged. What could stop it from starting?
  5. Remember that if your odo/speedo was converted from km to miles this is 6 miles/l. My 2012 Hybrid is doing 7.1 m/l so around 32mpg and that's in rural Wales with steep hills.
  6. Chris, feel free to share and I will have a look. Thanks.
  7. Hello everyone, I'm currently in the market for a 2012+ Toyota Alphard or Vellfire and I'm trying to understand the differences between the 2.4 Hybrid and 3.5-litre engine options. In my opinion: Hybrid will give me better fuel consumption but higher maintenance cost. 3.5 more reliable and cheaper maintenance but low mpg. Considering the price difference and mileage I do it will take around 5 years for the Hybrid to break even. Also, any idea why there are so many 2.4 available but only a handful of 3.5? I'm ignoring 2.4 non-hybrid because I heard it's not powerful enough in certain circumstances. I live in rural Wales with hills all around so don't want to discover it lacks the power to go up the hill. I'm hoping that some of you who have experience with these vehicles could shed some light on the differences between the two engines. What are the pros and cons of each option? Any insights or advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated.
  8. Hi Skippy, I'm still after the 20 series but there were some changes introduced in November 2011 and I'm trying to figure out what are those changes, especially mechanical ones.
  9. Hi everyone, I'm curious about the changes made to the model with the 2012 facelift. I've been doing some research online, but I haven't been able to find a definitive list of updates. I know that the Alphard/Vellfire underwent some cosmetic changes with the facelift, such as a new grille, redesigned headlights, and a revised bumper. However, I'm also interested in any changes that were made to the interior, technology, or mechanical features. Also, are those changes worth looking for 2012 models or not? Thanks in advance for any insights you can provide!
