Right folks, im definitely selling. Am sad as its a really lovely van, but it needs to go to a good home where it'll get used more for its purpose. Again, 14k (will consider sensible offers) for a quick sale to a forum member. If it doesnt go fairly imminently I will start to market it elsewhere at 16k. I feel its a chance for someone to pick up very nice converted van for a relative bargain. My promise to any interested forum member party (as some additional show of goodwill): * I'll arrange to replace the mirror glass for the correct genuine part, either having it sent to the new keeper to fit/fitting myself should the timescales allow. As it stands it has a brand new genuine (blue glass, convex, blind spot) pre facelift glass installed, which is entirely functional, just smaller/different shape to the FL glass (so there are some gaps in the mirror housing). * I'll arrange for it to have an oil and filter service before collection (is due sometime in July). * I'll have it professionally valeted inside and out prior to collection. * I will include accessory items I have purchased for it, including a EHU cable, EHU 16a to 13a converter cable, Campingaz regulator, 2 x Campinggaz bottles (one slightly used, other brand new), water gerry can for fresh water (for sink tap), blackout cover for windscreen and front windows. Feel free to share this with anyone you know who might be in the market/is looking for a decent Alphard camper. If they are referred by a forum member ill again honour the 14k price.

Hi folks, still contemplating sale to an interested party. I would take 14k for a quick sale to a forum member, though I cant really justify going lower - the van is very nice and definitely worth that amount given the professional kitchen conversion and pop top. That said, I wont be insulted by close offers but Id definitely need to think on it (as I do love the thing and its not an act of desperation!). Again DM if of interest, happy to answer any questions.

Looking to buy an Alphard - some advice please!

Ive DM'd you Harry in case its of interest 👍 -
Contemplating selling my Alphard, as Ive come to the realisation it just simply isnt getting the (camping) use it deserves. I'll be very sad to see it go but feel its only right it goes to someone who will use it as intended and get the enjoyment from it that weve struggled to. It was imported by SS Autos in July 2021 and given a full rear conversion (New Dawn) and Drivelodge pop top (Northstar) for its 1st UK owners it was imported for. As you can appreciate the cost of the van itself + conversion came with some considerable expense. It was a Grade 4 vehicle and have to say for something 15 years old its in excellent order inside and out. Currently sitting on c. 82k miles (the speedo and odo all now read in miles). Having been professionally imported, it has of course been fully undersealed. Finished in Black mica paint, nice spec including dark full alcantara upholstery with light wood trim, power side doors and tailgate, keyless entry, reversing camera, AFS Xenons with auto light control, electric folding mirrors, front and rear AC (works great), 6 speaker audio. Its had a very expensive Pioneer double DIN touchscreen unit fitted which has wireless android auto/carplay, DAB and Bluetooth. The wheel mounted audio controls and factory reversing cam all work through it as expected. Lots of paperwork with it, including the original Japanese book pack, service history since its been in the UK, CarVX report, BIMTA certificate (mileage backed up by the CarVX report). Since my ownership its had plenty of maintenance including: A replacement driveshaft seal Anti roll bar d link bushes Genuine Toyota radiator Full service (plugs/filters) using genuine Toyota parts A new genuine toyota windscreen New bosch aerotwin wiper blades, and new rear bosch OEM style rear blade Runs beautifully and I run it on super unleaded (typically Texaco 99). Fresh MOT with zero advisories. The kitchen is a rear conversion, tastefully done to contain: Dual gas burner hob Sink with powered tap Vitifrigo 12v undercounter fridge/freezer 2 x LED lights above the counter top MHU to rear passenger side providing mains power to 2 x 13a sockets w/ 2 x USB charging outlets Pop up table with bench seating with black vinyl covered cushions over rear wheel wells The pop top is usual drivelodge, with carpeted boards for the flooring. It has a leisure battery in the front that is charged via a split charging relay. The battery status (charge and health) can be monitored via a smartphone app via bluetooth. Not the MHU does not charge the leisure battery (it currently does not have a mains charger). In the interest of transparency..... It has a bit of a knock from the steering column, i believe it is the column bushes which is common on these. I have a new set of these that will go with the it, just have not had the opportunity to have them fitted. It needs a new passenger wing mirror glass, it currently has a pre facelift glass installed as a temporary measure. i did order a new genuine one from Japan for it but it was the wrong one (!) So have just stuck with the temporary part Will likely sort for the new owner. The pop top has 2 LED lights installed, but these have never worked since ive owned the vehicle. Its most likely to be a simple wiring/fuse issue but its bothered me so little I havent addressed. I didnt like the plastic fly sheeting that was fitted in the pop top side windows (affected the view out and just trapped flies/creepy crawlies) so had them removed (are now just full opening zipped windows). The diamond cut alloy finish is starting to deteriorate, but comensurate with the age of the vehicle (I suspect they have never been re-cut). It originally had a rear dumbo mirror on it, I didnt like it so it was removed. I do still have it and will supply it with the vehicle should the next keeper wish to refit it. Also the rear spoiler is suffering some lacquer peel, again as is common with these. Its in super shape but obviously bear in mind its a 15 year old vehicle so it does carry what I consider to be some relevant wear and tear in places (chips, dinks etc) but honestly it is pretty exceptional. I genuinely think the first interested party to see/view it will want to buy. I have posted some pics below, but dont have anything decent of the inside at the moment. I originally had the £16k mark in mind, but I will take 15k for it and consider any sensible/inoffensive offers. I think this is reasonable given its relative spec, condition and that these conversions can be upwards of 20k. Happy for it to be viewed at my home, though due to its value I would conduct any test drives and payment would need to be BACS only (no cash). Please DM me if of any interest.

I'll be honest, as ours is (or was originally) and 8 seater with a rear conversion, it's retained the factory 2nd row which is what doubles as the bed. The nice thing about this conversion is that you can use the 2nd row (either when folded flat, or rotated and facing rearwards) as the step up to the pop top level. Admittedly it's probably not that great for those in their advancing years/or don't much like a small climb but it works well. I don't think it works quite so well with a side conversion (where you would normally end up with a rock and roll bed at the rear) as it doesn't give you that means to step up, unless you are fortunate enough to have rotating front seats (not something the Alphard ever came with, but is a semi popular aftermarket mod).

Something to be aware of, I believe some of these vehicles have factory tinted headlamps, so an element of the yellowing may be by design. Mine definitely have a light bronze tint to them.
-
I tend to use Amayama in Osaka, as they tend to be very good. Only thing you have to be careful of....if you open the Toyota packaging and the part is incorrect they won't replace/refund you. Otherwise for smaller items it's decent as their prices are reasonable compared to UK dealer pricing even with shipping. For example, I ordered wing mirror glass (the wrong one which they won't take back lol) for about 80 quid all in, supplied here it's nearly 160 quid plus vat!

Locking All Doors At Night Without Setting Alarm
pipsyp replied to Geralt's topic in Toyota Alphard Camper Discussions
Mine doesn't have an alarm, so just lock with the fob (or reach over to the driver's door panel switch). Appreciate with an alarm it makes things a bit more complicated! -
slight knock on steering column, should I be really worried?
pipsyp replied to pipsyp's topic in Toyota Alphard Servicing
Cheers for this, is a late 10 series. I suspect it's one/some of the rack bushings....have bought a set just haven't had them fitted yet as mate carried out a full service on it and said they were ok some months back so they've just sat in the glovebox 👍 -
Morning chaps, pics as promised. Much as described above carpeted boards that lay in the metal frame of the Drivelodge pop top, four in total. I have to have the front one slightly overlapped as otherwise you can't pull the top down tight enough to seal because of the lifting handles. They just essentially lift in and out of place as needed and are all separate (so can be taken out, stacked at one end, whatever works) Cheers Paul
-
Cool does sound much like mine (I have four or five boards). I'll try and get a pic next time I'm in the van and it's light.
-
Ours are slats that fit together to make a floor, they can be taken out/stacked as necessary to gain access to upstairs, then put back in place to provide the full floor. Think it's probably the best way of doing it. Note ours were done and supplied as part of the original Drivelodge pop top conversion.

Signs of Useage Correct for Mileage ?
pipsyp replied to sumogogg's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
Mines an 07 done approaching 82k now. It was imported as a Grade 4 in 2021 with around 62k miles on the clock by it's previous keeper and has the things you describe....no teared seat (I have full alcantara) but the mirror switch and AC unit shows some wear (my mirror switch barely has the mirror fold graphics on it now), also the graphics on the indicator stalk. The leather on my steering wheel is also a bit rough. They are solid old things but certainly elements of the trim do show some wear and can confirm it's quite normal. Sagging headliners are also a thing, though most of mines been cut out to make way for a pop top. -
Pre facelift AH10 LH/passenger mirror glass - 87961-58011
pipsyp replied to pipsyp's topic in Alphard Buy & Sell
How it looks in a facelift mirror housing........facelift mirrors are a fair size bigger! 87961-58030 is the facelift part (non heated) for info, you live and learn! -
Hi folks, I have this factory glass available if anyone wants to buy one to keep as a spare, as they are very expensive to source in the UK (c. £140+ vat). I ordered this for mine, but transpires it for a pre facelift 03-05 Alphard and not my later one. It is blue tinted and with the blind spot section at the bottom. Also non-heated. Part no again is 87961-58011, long story short....ordered it from Amayama, took weeks to arrive, because I've opened the bubble wrap packet it was in they've been funny about taking it back so save any further hassle have decided to sell it if it benefits another forum member. Note it will NOT fit a facelift, and I can't take any responsibility if I sell it and you find it's not right for your vehicle. I paid c. £80 with shipping for it. I'm happy to let it go for £55 + shipping (any reasonable offer in that ballpark would be considered) if it does someone a turn. It's that or keep it for the sake of it, or fit it and it look proper daft 😆 PM me if interested

Alphard gets rattly at 80mph
pipsyp replied to PaulS_'s topic in Toyota Alphard & Vellfire Club Forum (2008 - 2015)
Hi Paul, As Roger mentions tyre pressures/uneven wear could be the issue. It may be that your wheels need balancing or it may be in need of a full wheel alignment. Full wheel alignment is a tricky one as I dont think there is widely available details for the specs on this, so most tyre outfits won't know how/want to work on it. Some will happily however. All things being equal though you should be able to do those speeds (albeit illegally :-)) without vibration, definitely not normal. Best of luck finding a solution, best bet is probably to take it to a good independent tyre fitters that do 4 wheel alignment and see what they say. Having the wheels balanced might just do it, and is straightforward enough. -
Hi Andrew, The Toyota EPC website might help you identify the part: https://toyota.epc-data.com If you search against your chassis number (ANH10-somenumber) and look under electronics you should find the mirror housing in there. They all fold but depending on the model some are heated some aren't. Being a high spec model like yours it is almost certainly heated. I've been having a hell of a time sourcing mirror glass (my wife smashed mine, thankfully the mirror housing was OK) and seem to recall from Amayama a new mirror housing is mid £300's plus shipping from Japan. Not cheap but I almost guarantee cheaper than sourcing from a main dealer here (albeit a longer wait). Hope that helps! Paul

Pioneer make some nice double DIN units with DAB, Bluetooth phone/audio streaming and Android Auto/Carplay, but they aren't particularly cheap. I have a pretty high end one in mine EVO64DAB and it was several hundred back when it was fitted (thankfully before I owned it). Whilst I don't particularly shy away from fitting a car stereo, I would in this instance as the amount of wiring behind there is crazy. With the right cabling you can retain things like reversing camera and steering wheel controls. One thing you will lose on the hybrid is the trip computer/power monitor, so as long as you don't mind that, it's not a bad way to go.

wing mirror glass - just in case it helps anyone!
pipsyp replied to pipsyp's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
Urggghh....the trials and tribulations of owning an Alphard...... Having waited a few weeks for the replacement mirror glass to arrive, so it does, to usual Japanese perfection......however.......god damn its the wrong shape glass 😭 The irony is whilst it's genuine glass, blue tint and with the blind spot as per the original, and also listed as the correct part for an AH10 Alphard, it's the same shape as the temporary (Estima) glass I bought! Further investigation has determined there are c. 4 different mirror glasses for these cars, so can only assume it's one of the others and that some of these vehicles must have the same door mirror units as the Estima (but not mine!). Mine are also definitely genuine mirror units and not aftermarket ones like some have. I've reached out to Amayama to look into sourcing the correct one (benefit of hindsight, I've provided my VIN this time and will let them tell me the part code) and going to see where this goes. No doubt however I'll be sending this one back to Osaka (unless someone wants a genuine, non heated LH mirror glass for a 2000-2006 Estima by any chance!) -
Mine now sits in the big void under the passenger seat, though I have an AH10 (Series 1). Not sure if it's similar on the AH20, but on mine the bolt to lower the spare wheel is under the lower boot trim panel (the one that surrounds the boot catch). I'm not sure if it was always there or the converter (New Dawn I think it was) relocated it. I remember having paranoia about it (having a spare and not being able to lower it) and ended up figuring it out. I don't much trust the spare (its probably now as old as the car and needs replacing), so have opted for goo and a pump instead, though good to know it's accessible in a full blown emergency!

Don’t buy from Southcoast Jap Autos formerly JDM Autos
pipsyp replied to Peterm69uk's topic in Alphard Buy & Sell
No worries chap, horrible when youve spent hard earned money on something nice and it's not what you expected it to be. It's not made any easier by these things, despite their popularity/increasing numbers in the UK being still relatively hard to source parts for at reasonable costs (and quickly). I'm currently awaiting a wing mirror glass turning up from Japan......as it's not the sort of thing you can just go grab at a motor factors or Halfolds.....that was nearly 80 quid with freight......that said Toyota UK were selling one on line and it was nearly 160! I was therefore happy to wait! Definitely do reach out to the seller though, tell them how it is from your perspective and see what they do for you, you might be pleasantly surprised. Definitely think they deserve at least one opportunity to make things good. Failing that just go hard on them, perhaps with Trading Standards involvement and see if they can support you with getting the right outcome or worst case rejecting the vehicle on the basis it's missold and get your money back. -

Really hard to say Pete. MOT stations do occasionally muck up the mileage..simply get it wrong when they type it in. Alternatively may be that it was MOT'd prior to the mileage being changed to miles and the garage asked the MOT station to convert kms to miles and they got the calc slightly wrong? For the sake of a few hundred miles honestly I would not worry about it, particularly given if the import mileage Kms to miles tallies.
