Update - having fed the wire down to the bumper area and fitting the new LED reflectors into place I now have some quite bright fog lights.

They are still fed from a simple push switch on the dashboard, which is connected to ACC rather than the headlight switch - so I am hopefully Ok for the MoT, however I would like to get a 'normal' fog light action if I can.

 

So if I get:

  Replacement indicator stalk 84140-42080

and

  Relay 90987-02027

Would they work with a 10 facelift? Can I just plug in the relay, replace the steering wheel indicator stalk and then find the feed in the bumper area?

A quick look in the bumper area doesn't show a nice big connector such as Simbads.

 

Thoughts please?

 

1) I did wire the red and white feeds to be extra bright, they are red, but the phone camera shows them more white than red.

2) I know it needs a clean

3) I know the nearside boot light is out - annoyingly it comes back on when I have the boot apart and then doesn't come on when it's all put back again.

Add some details - the three points after the picture.

10 series is different. 

The winter pack edition foglight is actually on the boot door.

 

The drivers side light assembly should have an additional connection that utilise a dual filament bulb. 

 

I posted about it on my long multipage post a few years back. 

It's possible to intercept that wire in the rear loom.

 

The 10 series did not have a rear fog position lighting stalk, it has a switch on the panel to right of steering wheel.

I have already ordered the relay.

 

I would like to have a neat solution to turning the fog lights on and off, currently it's the stalk for the fronts and a dashboard switch for the rears. 

 

The current fog light switch looks to have been modified already but I know it feeds the ones I have connected in the bumper - the problem is that it's fed from ACC rather than the headlight feed, so if the ignition is on the rear fogs can be as well.

Use the wiring diagrams from the thread i linked. 

You could also go to the Japanese site i linked that has the full manual.

 

You should be able to recover the oem wiring and tap into the correct switched positive

 

Unfortunately, i don't have access to a 10 series to actually confirm the wiring for you.

 

I would suggest the enhanced light stalk would not be compatible, unless you ran new wiring, and changed or modified the clock spring too.

Thank you, that's saved me in the region of £70. We will live with the dashboard switch then. 

 

Unless someone has successfully fitted a rear fog light and stalk control to a 2005 facelift model and can tell us all how they did it. 🙂

(I know I should be looking through all the posts but there are so many of them and mostly talking about 20 series from what I can see).

Can't believe how many posts have been written about rear fog lights/switches,since a couple of us began a discussion in October 2021! There still doesn't appear to be a simple ,cheap way of fitting, other than complicated switching/wiring. I still use the dashboard illuminating rocker switch that was fitted after export. In all that time I've only had to use the fogs twice.

The best and easiest addition was fitting and connecting a Cruise Control stalk onto the steering column,wiring as described and being able to use the Cruise Control already in place. Read posts from several years ago

PS The stalk with wiring was at the time under £15. There are several online fitting videos.

After much faffing around I have sorted my fog lights out.  Thanks for all the help.  Will get a photo once the sun sets.

 

Way easier just to completely remove the whole bumper and do it elsewhere.

 

After installation, I was just testing them out and the car started throwing hybrid system errors.   Which was a bit of a problem.  Finally managed to get my OBD2 reader to work to discover that my 12V battery was pretty much dead ... Connected up a backup battery I have, cleared the code and its working perfectly ... *phew*

@Simbad For future reference, those side panels of the steering wheel are actually really easy to remove when you know how. I struggled to get the first one off and then realised how it should be done. The ideal tool is a thin metal spudger (I use the blunt end to avoid any risk of scratches). There is actually only one clip holding it in place, and it's in the centre of the front edge of each panel (nearest the driver's seat). All you need to do is shove the spudger straight in at that point, then bend it towards the driver's seat slightly so that the clip bends a little bit, just enough for its lip to clear the opening. Here, I made a video.

Wish I knew this beforehand. It's always so easy to do it if you know exactly how/where to pry  

Hi All - I'm looking into the possibility of using the complete L&R stalk assembly from a UK Toyota/Lexus - I can cope with the indicators on the right, my wife not so much!

Anyway - the ask is for someone who has done the enhanced fog light stalk swap (as you have the old one handy): can you please post the diameter of the ring that the clamp fits around (that locks it to the steering column?

I have a complete UK Land Cruiser set* which has both fog positions, and I can confirm the cassette/spiral fits but am unsure (without dismantling my car) if it is too big diameter wise.

I've also bought a cassette from a 30 series with the heated steering wheel function, which also fits the Land Cruiser stalks** - very keen to see if it all fits together!

*The the other set I've tried was from a Lexus RX400 - the stalks functions are 100% correct, but the cassette fitting mouldings are different, so no good to us)

** these are slightly different with regard to the off/side/dip/auto positions - if it looks like the will fit (see ask above), I'll try them in my Alphard/do a resistance metering comparison on the pins - these feed into one of the main ECU's so are more akin to a digital O/1 signal than powering such as a relay.
