BigNev Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Next off, push the panel at the front bottom of the seat off, and undo the bolt, just to get a bit more movement again.
Jimmympv Posted January 1 Posted January 1 1 minute ago, BigNev said: Hi guys!!! Happy New Year! So full credit to @skippy992 for the research to get these parts!! First off, remove thec2 screws behind the plate. Unhook the cable from the same plate, fingers underneath to do that. Then - remove the panel at the back of the seat, this helps get more movement on the side panel. Nice one! I will take a look at this tomorrow if the weather eases up. Thanks for tips both.
BigNev Posted January 1 Posted January 1 (edited) Sorry they're from different sides of the car guys! And some pics added. Edited January 1 by BigNev
BigNev Posted January 1 Posted January 1 (edited) Next, push up and forwards on the existing backing plate to remove it from the latching piece of metal. Edited January 1 by BigNev Pic removed to avoid confusion after I edited the first post.
BigNev Posted January 1 Posted January 1 (edited) Removed as I edited the first post and pics!! Edited January 1 by BigNev
BigNev Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Now the difficult bit - make sure you've got the correct handed item, then thrutch for a good while, if you've got my level of LACK of dexterity, to get it to latch over the top bit of metal, from very slightly above/front and back/down, whilst also getting the other tab to go behind the plate that the screws go into. Good luck with that mate! I got naffed off, cut that little tab, and put some bigger washers on to secure it.
BigNev Posted January 1 Posted January 1 That top lug was OK, the bottom one beat me. These backing plates are the originals, without the levers.
BigNev Posted January 1 Posted January 1 These are the two items for the black seats, as @skippy992 said much earlier, the code for beige ends in AO
Jimmympv Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Great posts Dave, I was just thinking I wish I could search the internet in Japanese because I bet there are 10 year old posts on Japanese forums explaining all of this that's new to us 😅 I really would love to know the reasons behind omitting this part, was it an optional extra no one wanted to pay for? I know it's on other Toyota's, I think the Estima? Just seems so strange to have a fully functioning feature in the car just to be hidden away. Anyway. I'll update with my success story (or lack of!).
BigNev Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Put all the panels back in place BEFORE trying to locate the cable, I know this from experience 😄 A bit tricky, but not too bad with the aid of narrow nose pliers, to pull the cable, while a mate is holding the lever up, then lowering down, insert the barrel nipple/ lower a bit more then push in all the way to locate the cable. Finally locate the cable outer end in the holding lug, working my feel underneath! Job done!
BigNev Posted January 1 Posted January 1 You're welcome mate! I guess auto spell correct got you 🤣 Yes it's rather strange to not just fit it, but maybe it's in with a slightly higher spec option or some such reason? Or perhaps related to the Royal Lounge option, so these two seats go way further back, as there's no rear row to worry about? With the rear seats stowed up, there's hardly any further rearward movement than hitting the wheel arch seat bump stop. But with them down and all the way back, there certainly is! It's only about 80mm movement, it is calibrated so the 2 seats don't hit, and the tray fits nicely into the shaped recess, and it's better to have the option than not hey fellas!!
BigNev Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Well, WOW, I just experimented more with that adjustment!!! About 380mm further back than standard!!! 😃😀 But no leg room for rear passengers. The 2 lights in the tailgate are a kit from Aliexpress.com , a cracking kit, no soldering or wiring skills, they have male/female plugs at the existing boot light and keeps that rather pathetic lamp. Comes with the wiring harness from one end to the other, split with a connector just inside the tailgate above where the wiring passes in.
Jimmympv Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Haha yeah don’t know where DAVE came from! the extra space it creates is fantastic if you only have mid row passengers. I’ve also been looking at those boot lights, are they a worth while upgrade? I was hesitant at first because all the interior lights have been changed to LED by previous owner and they are blinding at night and they turn on. But that tiny little thing that’s in there already just might as well not exist.
BigNev Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Heehee! Yep, for us most of the time it will be the 4 of us, so my daughters will love that! I've just been out with one of them and she said it's almost too big! Those lights were very much definitely worth it for me, that original light is rubbish in a black car, certainly for me. Same as you on the other lights as LEDs, not it sure if they're original, but extremely blinding if I look into them. Yes, I know, there's an easy solution to that 🤔 Because aliexpress.com is a temptation zone, I also bought some replacement door LED projector lights, many options available. That's how bright the interior lights on ours are, just illustrates the contrast!
Jimmympv Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Good afternoon all. I managed to get these levers fitted today. Thanks to BigNev for the pics and Skippy for pointing me in the direction of the part numbers! I went a couple steps further and released the two bolts on the arm of the chair and one under the slide back/forth lever to allow me to fully remove the side of panel of the armrest. You need to push down to release it from the metal bar it’s clipped on to. I didn’t take it completely off as there was more than enough give to get lots of access to where I needed to be. This made siting the plastic clips back on to the metal a bit easier. Still tricky mind you. The most frustrating part was trying to guide the the wire back in to the lever. Some needle nose pliers came in handy for that and a lot of swearing.

Aliexpress is a dangerous place as there’s loads of stuff that I absolutely do not need but really can’t help but want lol Mine came with these puddle lights. I’m guessing they aren’t stock but cool nonetheless. It also came with a Flare stowed in the passenger footwell. No idea if they’re even legal over here so a bit apprehensive about that one. I’m pretty sure it can’t be thrown in the bin at least. So I’m just leaving it where it is.
BigNev Posted January 4 Posted January 4 Hi guys! Ah those extra bolts would have saved my knuckles some grief 🤣 Cracking job, and extra photos in tbe mix! Ooh it's chuffin lethal on that shopping site isn't it? And I'm liking your lights mate! The Mrs has had me order some "Vellfire" ones too, as I made the mistake of showing her, and how cheap they are in the winter sake, oops! Mine has the flare too!! Told her to stop kicking it on the way out 😬 1
