Chrish237 Posted Tuesday at 01:31 PM Posted Tuesday at 01:31 PM Hi my lovely alphas started to seem like clutch was slipping badly. Called out RAC for a tow to garage and strangely drove fine except for pulling off where I had to apply a lot of gas and it suddenly jolted forward... after that was perfect. now it's back to not engaging gears properly. i need to give them the specific transmission oil needed for a change. what is the Toyota recommended oil needed? and also any one have ideas of the problem going on here? on Friday reverse was almost impossible, today the garage says reverse only gear working well?!?
Charlie Brown Posted Wednesday at 08:27 AM Posted Wednesday at 08:27 AM The handbook states the oil to be used as Toyota Auto Fluid Type T-IV. I believe it is available from Toyota dealers and many other outlets such as ebay. The handbook says it takes 8.6 litres.
MonsterS Posted Wednesday at 01:12 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:12 PM As Charlie Brown said its easier to buy from Ebay.
BigNev Posted Wednesday at 07:52 PM Posted Wednesday at 07:52 PM (edited) And don't forget - that 8.6 litres would be for a full strip down. It will likely be half that for a drain and fill fluid change. My 2010 3.5 took a bit under 4 litres, after all the "excess" dribbled out following the procedure for mine, which is not necessarily the same for yours. Edited Wednesday at 07:54 PM by BigNev
