Hello, this is my first post I'm a new owner of a 2007 alphard. Can anyone tell me if the navigation can be changed to English and I've got radio 2 so far on the radio. I've heard about the Toyota SD card and an expander. Not being technical I'm clueless. Any help 🙏 Karen x
Hello Karen,
Welcome to the Forum
Welcome also to Alphard ownership.
Your radio cannot be changed to English. Nor can the navigation system, but it won't work in UK anyway.
You may find eightseater.blog.com very helpful if you have the HDD version.
Whereabouts are you in Devon ?
Some owners fit new head units.
You have lots to read about on this Forum.
There is a search box to help narrow the scope a little.
Radio replacement is a very popular topic.

I finally took delivery of my cover from Auto covers UK a couple of weeks ago, and fitted it today for the first time, well, to say I'm disappointed with it would be a bit of an understatement, the quality of the cover itself seems fine, but where they got their sizes from is a mystery, it's about 3 inches too short in length, so doesn't stretch under the rear bumper, and I'm the width it comes up a good 5 inches short on each side, in addition, the positioning of the front straps is such that I have to literally feed it through the wheels to get it to work, generally unimpressed.
Hi Nigel,
Sorry you are so disappointed, but thanks for letting us all know.

Hello, I've recently got an alphard vellfire and I used a plug adaptor in the jap sockets between front and middle seats and they are not working I don't know if it is the plug adaptor or if I need to press a button or if both are broken
Hello Lucas,
Welcome to the Forum
I have a Gen 1, you have a Gen 2; but I have a switch on the dash which turns the 100v outlets on and off.
Perhaps you have one too.

thanks Rojie, what load rating are you considering?I’m wondering if 95H is enough as it’s a fully converted camper + 4 people and awning / camping gear..
Just XL, as opposed to the various 'normal' load rating.
I think the XL is a stronger sidewall. I'll check more thoroughly when the time comes.
With my annual mileage it will be some time yet !
The 95H should be perfectly adequate as the vehicles are designed to carry seven or eight persons.

Hello,
Hoping to buy an Alphard soon but I live on the Isle of Man and to be honest I haven’t managed to see one ‘in the flesh’ yet. Haven’t seen any driving around over here.
I used to have a Mazda Bongo but due to increasing mobility issues gave it up and would now like something a bit more luxurious and I think the Alphard fits the bill. My aim is to either buy a converted (or have one converted) camper. I’ve watched hundreds of videos and looked at loads of imported vehicle specialists online but not being local to any of them it’s hard to know who is reliable and recommended.
I’ve joined to hopefully pick up hints and tips, learn about the good and possibly bad points and chat to other Alphard owners.
JoJoHello JoJo,
Welcome to the Forum.
Imho, the Alphies are in a Totally different class to the Mazda.
Looks like you need a 'holiday' on the mainland !
Please ensure you have someone you can rely on the Isle for maintenance.
Your Official Toyota Dealer, if you have one, is unlikely to be helpful.
But do ask, they are not all too huffy; mine welcomes my business.

In Japan there are two main distributors.
For product differentiation; they tend to fit different body panels and trim.
Having said that, there are aftermarket panels available.
The same is true for Alphards too.

Hi Adam,
I don't need tyres yet, but will probably fit extra load versions when I do.

I am thinking of buying a 2005 2.4L Alphard (c.60,000 miles) that has been newly converted into a camper. But I am rather nervous about spending £25K on a vehicle that is 18 years old. Does anyone have any helpful thoughts or comments about Alphards of this age, please? Are there issues around reliability, obtaining parts and getting servicing done? Could there be massive depreciation if I need to sell the vehicle after a couple of years? I would be grateful for any comments, reassuring or otherwise! Many thanks. Peter.
Hello Peter,
Welcome to the Forum,
There are a couple of points that may your affect decision process.
Firstly, if you are buying from a business you will pay VAT, 20%. You are unlikely to recover this.
As Alphatds, and Vellfires, are Japanese Imports most, but not all, official Toyota Dealers will not work on them or supply parts!..
Consequently, it is wise to ensure that you have someone competent, if not yourself, to maintain it.
Getting an MOT will not be a problem, as any MOT station will be able to do that.
I have an 2006 MZ G Edition Alphie and feel sure it will last longer than I.
I paid a lot less than your budget and had a very classy conversion for a lot less too.
I don't have a pop top, but they will add a significant cost if yours has one.
Also, beware the height gain as that can prevent access to many car parks.
Have it checked thoroughly by the RAC or AA prior to purchase.
I hope this doesn't put you off Alphie ownership as it is very comfortable motoring.

Hello all,
New member here, I'm currently looking at purchasing fairly soon a late V6 Gen1 Alphard and I have seen a couple for sale with an item mounted on the cieling where the rear TV would be. It is a box that goes from the rear of the front sun roof area to the rear a/c controls, has grilles front & rear and a circular grille underneath. Neither I have seen have the uprated sound system. Sunroof & non-sunroof models. I've searched online, parts catalogues, translated brochures and I cannot find it!
I'm hoping your collective knowledge will be able to help, as it is bugging the hell out of me!
Many thanks!
Hello Rex.,
Welcome to the Forum.
It is probably and air filter/ cleaner/ purifier; fitted aftermarket.

I searched but could not find info
Can someone please confirm for me if the oil filter is same on a 2.4 ANH10 and 2010 2.4 ANH20. As far as I can tell both use the same 2az engine so oil filter should be same.
If it is different does anybody know the blueprint number?
Hello Bob,
Welcome to the Forum.
Try searching this Forum.
There is a thread that contains the part numbers for some of the serviceable parts.
The info may be in a Megathread.
The search box is on your home page; top rhs.

Hopefully someone might be able to help with this problem. Both of my sliding doors have stopped working. They stopped working a week ago, a few days later I managed slowly to open the passenger one manually and checked the cables and gulleys, these have been cleaned and lubed. Once this was done I tried to use the power door opening and closing, it worked. I did the same with the drivers side power door and then tested the door and it worked. Today I am back with both doors not opening, press the handle and the door opens and inch then closes, turn the power door switch off and the doors will still open an inch and no more. I have checked the fuses and all are good. Is there a way of just having manual doors without using the electric switch. I have done a search on this site just incase anyone else had had the same problem, but no joy. Thanks for any information. Cheers Gruf
Hi Barry,
Make sure your battery is fully charged, and I mean fully.
These cold mornings are battery charge killers

Many thanks for your reply. Do you know where I can get it tested and recertified. I can't find anywhere that will do a rolling emissions test that is recognised by the DVLA?
No, sorry, I only have experience of reading threads on this forum !
As I said, it is a hassle, and some owners just give up
I put your registration into TfL ULEZ checker and, unfortunately, the vehicle is chargeable.

I have a hybrid 2004/2005 Alphard. On the V5C Log book, it just says Petrol. Does not say Hybrid or Electric on the fuel type and has nothing where the CO2 emissions should be. Has anyone else overcome this problem, had their log book changed so the car is exempt from the ULEZ charge, as it should be.
Hello William,
Welcome to the Forum.
I agree with Paul above; but I do have a vague recollection that Aphards up to 2005 aren't in the system.
And getting yours certified by having it tested, and then recognised (or not) by DVLA, is quite a hassle.
I hope I am wrong.
Other members who have been through this process will advise you, I am sure.

Hi Rojie...thank you.
I notice you live in the Torbay area. I'm looking at an Alphard being sold by Topsham Car Sales.
Have you any knowledge of them ?
Hello Peter,
Greetings from South Devon
Yes, I do.
You need to send me a personal message.
Set out clearly what you are looking for.

Does any one know the size an where I could by black wheel nut to got with my alloys that I just bought please
I can tell you the standard nut size for standard studs.
But since you have changed your wheels they may not be suitable; and that could be dangerous.
Some details about the wheels would be helpful !

Thanks will try this out tomorrow or when I next drive. I have the 4 button immobiliser key and I one fob (smart key I guess).
any idea if it’s easy to get a spare smart key?
thabks again.
I think it is quite easy but,
Programming it isn't.
There is a recent thread on here, try searching from your home page.
May be worth trying a new smart fob battery before buying a new fob

I replaced the immobiliser key (the one that goes in the ignition)
the smart key is the fob only? The one without the key part? If so it might be my error as I’ve started leaving that at home with the spare key 🤣.
As far as I can remember, the smart key key should work the front doors; the immobiliser key won't.
I believe you can set the smart key (if you want to) to unlock the doors as you approach the vehicle without activating any smart key buttons.
The immobiliser key is a mechanical key only; although it will open the sliding doors if they are electric.

Hi everyone,
I recently made a copy of my car key using the Mini VCI cable after buying the replacement key on eBay.
since adding the new key I’ve noticed my smart locking has stopped working.
I may have the terminology wrong but the button on the outside on the drivers door handle has stopped locking the doors (and unlocking)
any idea how to reset or sort this out?
I still have the Mini VCI and software set up on a laptop.
many thanks
Which key did you replace ?
The smart key of the immobiliser key ?

Hello again Karen,
You can buy the 4D67 chip blank keys from ebay.
Getting them programmed is less easy.
If you are local to me I can suggest an auto locksmith, about 100 pounds to program the new key.
Anyone can cut the key, but it needs programming otherwise it won't work with the immobiliser.
