Just got my Alphard but the lock unlock beep is driving me mad. Tried a uTube remedy that required the key to be inserted, removed, inserted for 10 seconds, removed and button pressed twice - didn't work. Anything else I can try? TIA

I am loving my second hand japanese import. Aphard 2010 model.
Very comfortable to drive, smooth and quiet.
Just having a few problems with the japanese stero.
The Sat Nav SD card is for japan. I was thinking that if I buy a European/UK sat nav Sd card it might allow me to use the sat nav in the UK.

Has anyone tried this theory out please?
I appreciate that it will still probably talk to me in japanese (which is fun and does not bother me at all) I would just be nice to see the UK roads on the screen.

Some other brands call them mood lighting.
As Dan says, it just provides a dull illumination

Hello everyone 👋
I have joined your club, so to speak. This week I collected my first Alphard. It is in great condition and works/drives fabulously for a 2007 vehicle.
As I cannot ride and do up motorcycles at the moment (Wife, Kids, Work, Dog etc.) I am turning my attention towards my Alphard. Has anyone modified or pimped their Mk1? I am particularly interested in body kits and LED rear clusters, and upgraded headlight units.
I already have a few internal upgrades on he way. However, the most visible will be on the exterior.
Once I find a kit, or components, along with front and rear modified lighting. I will have the Alphard wrapped, as it is far cheaper and more efficient than paint.
Be great to hear from anyone who has already modified their Mk1, or anyone who knows where to source front and rear light upgrades and body kits.
I have seen a handful so far on the Internet, although all appear to be for the Mk2.
Cheers 🍻

Hi sorry for the late reply - yes I received your PM but was still unable to reply with photos. The options simply aren’t there compared to a public post where there’s an ‘add files’ and ‘other media’ tabs under the reply box
I have sent you another PM.
Please send me one so I can reply to it and test the facility

The rail looks very much like the rail Dometic sells for windbreaks.

Hi all,
Im new to this forum but since purchasing my Toyota Alphard 2.4 Hybrid last year (after months of hassle with shipping delays, then DVLA delays and god knows what else..!) i have an issue which others have faced, today 3 warning lights went off, bottom right red colour car with exclamation mark, top right VSC and top right yellow colour Circle with exclamation mark, im based in London and took it to a place that deals with Hybrids, they said its likely the Hybrid-battery, after completing a diagnostics-test they concluded that it is the Hybrid-battery, now the battery itself is rather pricey.
The options they gave is 1) Brand new £2400 with 2-years warranty or 2) used for £1200 with 6-months warranty, im not experienced in cars (couldn’t tell the difference between the screen wash and oil filter) and contacted two firms from google who repair hybrid batteries, theyre far from London, ones in Torquay and the other in Glasgow, they can repair the existing battery for 3) £1000 with 12,000 miles warranty which is a reconditioning process for 25 hours or 4) the chap will replace the 30 cells with Gen-3 batteries thus giving it a much more higher performance at £1550 with 3-year warranty.
Im ultra confused and dont have a high budget to use on this car, any thoughts or guidance? i added the diagnostics report.
The car is 2004 model, its on 80k miles, used for social/ private (no camper), outside of this its been a real dleight to drive this last year, no trobles at all, except for the costly fuel.
thanks so much

Hi, hoping for some advice please...
Our nearside sliding door cable has lost it's rubberised coating, rusted and frayed on our 2004 Alphard. The door motor works fine, but the door jams on the cable so we've had to stop using it.
Is this the correct correct replacement part please:
https://gt4-play.co.uk/shop/alphard-power-sliding-door-cables-genuine-toyota
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/314117006249?
Is it possible to just replace the external cable somehow? Or, do I need to buy the part as above and replace the lot?
Many thanks in anticipation
Rob

Got mine from amazon site ,I cut the corners off near edge for blowers as a bit tight, few to choose from ,also ebay, they do help with glare and reduce heat in cab as they don't reflect the heat .also bought 2 bags of moisture absorbing chrystals ,like a silicone or something, anyway I have dogs and in the cold weather it gets water condensation from there breath on inside of windscreen, these bags really do help with absorbing moisture over night
I too use a dash mat, as I call it. Very effective.
I also use the moisture absorbing crystals, but keep them well away from the fake wood trim (and the dog).

Just the other side of Newton Abbot me thinks.
Bit further than that.
But they do have two locations, the 'showroom' and the conversion workshop.
I was referring to the showroom, as, I think, visits to the workshop are by Invitation only.

We've had our converted Alphard for 18months and have realised how good the conversion is. There was a small issue with draw and cupboard catches not being of a satisfactory quality, but once sorted we have come to enjoy it's comfort, finish and reliability. We would like to mention the company who did the conversion and dealt with us in a professional and friendly manner.
The company is Riveria Motors of Totnes.
Good to hear you are happy with Riviera as they are a local (to me) conversion company.
They often have a choice of several donor vehicles to choose from too.
For anyone interested they are located on the main road between Paignton to Totnes.

Thanks Rojie! I don’t have the form yet but will take a look when I visit to see them.
Don' t just look, get yourself a copy so you can mull over it at home.
It will be big help in locating areas of bodywork that need attention, or may have been dealt with already.
As a second step you could consider an AA/RAC Inspection.
I paid 300 pounds and it brought a significant amount of reassurance.
2008 is a crossover year; end of Gen 1, beginning of Gen 2.
The Gen it is will have an effect on value in the future.
Good Luck

Morning all,
We decided to have our 8 seater Alphard converted to a camper van. After much searching we decided to go with Milldown Campers.
Appointment booked we arrived and was greeted by David. We explained that we was looking for the side conversion but both my wife and I had different opinions of what Colour combination and spec we were after!
David took the time to explain clearly what was included in the package and what was an optional extra. David then let us view his stock of Alphard & Elgrand Campers so we could see all the various Colour combinations. The first thing that struck us was what a beautiful & modern conversion package Milldown Campers provided, The fit and finish was exceptional. Being able to see the Colour options in the flesh helped us decide on our combination. David had no problem letting my wife and I take our time and decide what we wanted, We really appreciated this as we didnt was to make a hasty decision.Another nice option is to have the dash board sprayed to modernise the interior, This can be done in either Black or Silver. We chose the silver which really did smarten up the cabin.
Upon agreeing our spec, The keys were handed over and our Alphard was left with David. We was advised that the conversion would start straight away and take approximately 2 working weeks to complete. I assume this would differ depending on the workload that Milldown have on. David very kindly provided us with regular photo updates on the progress which was fantastic.
It is worth mentioning that there was a couple of small jobs I wanted doing while the Alphard was stripped back for the refit. I spoke to David about this additional work outside of the conversion and he very kindly addressed this for me also.
As agreed two weeks passed and I received an email to say our conversion had been complete, the Alphard cleaned and was ready for collection. We agreed a date and went to collect, Upon arrival David again took the time to walk us through the conversion and explained to us how everything worked.
To say we were happy is an understatement. We are all over the moon with it, our two daughers cant get enought of curling up in the back with there games & Ipads while we head of on an adventure!
Another point I would like to make out is the quality of the after sales assistance. We are not experienced campers, quite the opposite. I have contacted David a few times for advice, Wether that be regarding our Alphard or where to source camping equiptment for it, David has always had the time to help.
We often get asked by people if they can have a look around our Alphard and they alway walk away very impressed with what they see.
In conclusion, David & the Milldown Camper team lived up to our expectations and more. Nothing was a problem and they were very generous with there time with us, They are a credit to the industry.
We would definitely use and recommed Milldown campers again in the future.https://milldowncampers.com/

Hi,
We are looking at Alphard’s to purchase and have seen a few in our budget, but just want to get some advice and see what people think of these two price wise:
2008, Alphard A XL, 2.4, 40,000 Miles - 11,000 pound
2006, Alphard M XL, 3.0, 50,000 Miles - 9,000 pound
Is there much in difference between these two Alphard’s given there is 2 years between them?
Is this a pretty standard or good price for these models?
Would you go with the 2.4 or 3? With a new cam belt is there much difference?
The 2006 model looks like it has indicators on the wing mirrors and a DVD screen that fold down from the roof so might be a different specification that the 2008? I understand there are lots of variations.
Anything I should look out for when viewing the vehicles or test driving it?
I’m learning to read the auction form but is there anywhere I can get it checked/translated and the mileage checked?
Thank you so much!
Hello A,
Welcome to the Forum.
If you search the internet, you should be able to find information on how to understand the Japanese auction sheet.
Do you have the auction sheet?
If so you have made one of the most important first steps to ownership.

Were you fiddling with the head unit at the time, pressing buttons ! ?
Eightseater.blogspot.com has some info on the reversing camera and 'boxes'.
However, I don't think he covers recovery of the boxes.
Worth a read though

Check out pages 142 and 143.
I am (now) doubting my recollection that they are configured through the head unit.
More thinking required !
Doubt over. The sensors can be configured through the head unit; my head unit at least.
My advice, leave well alone unless you are fluent in Japanese !

Hello, I have ANH10 2008, does anybody know how to connect to the hard drive? Can we format or erase the contain of the hard drive?
Hello Tessi,
Welcome to the Forum,
Which Head Unit do you have ?
Try eightseater.blog.com.
On my HDD head unit tracks can be deleted through the head unit.
You can also prevent CDs(MDs) being written to the HDD unit automatically.
I am not aware that the HDD can be formatted. I would not even think about it.
You have no idea what else is stored on it.

Looking to buy a 2010-ish Alphard/Vellfire in the near future.
My plan is to use it as a "Day Van" and to that end rather than put in an end conversion to fold up the rear bank or seats and use one of the Vangear Camping Pods which one would depend on how much space is available with the seats folded (I also think that it might be possible to just fold one seat and get a "micro-pod" in there)?
Has anyone tried this? Vangear say they are designed to fit Toyota rails (Proace) they use the cleats in the picture below to bolt the pod to the rails in the vehicle
This would mean I could use the rear seats if I so desired by "un-mounting" the camping pod so I could use the carrying capacity as a van or for people as a "bus". Has anyone tried this? Anyone think this is a non-starter? Advice or thoughts gratefully accepted.

I'll try and send you a file to check.
I was able to send a file.
Were you able to receive it ?

To emphasise Larry's point; the further you travel into the South West the more difficult it is to find LPG.
I am struggling to remember, but (I think) BP and Shell (maybe it was Exxon) have already announced withdrawal from forecourt LPG.
I, personally, would not want to rely on the smaller independents.
However, users of LPG are not reporting any significant issues, and, effectively, the installations produce a dual fuel vehicle.
If heading to Devon or Cornwall this summer plan your fuel stops.
