Can you please elaborate who is Chris.ac and where do I find him?
He is a member. he'll be in touch soon, I expect.
You could check out his threads. I am sure he has covered this before.

Does anyone know how to change display language from Japanese to English on my Toyota Alphard 2012 ANH20W
Yes. Chris.ac does

Does it mean these button wouldn’t work on my Alphard 2012?
I have an earlier model.
It seems to me you need to get the correct key fob(s) and get them professionally programmed.
I assume you have fitted a new battery for the side door to work ?

Anyone know what wires I need to tap into to get the front camera working, my Alphard had aftermarket head unit in and it was never wired up, I've replaced the head unit with a Android one that supports front camera just need to figure out the wiring for it now
Hello Tom,
Welcome to the Forum.
Be cautious.
I'll think you will find your Alphie camera is 6 volts; whereas you new unit may well supply 12 volts.

Hi again Graeme,
I did understand your initial situation.
If your battery is tired and the voltage dips too low; and Pete gives all the voltage information, your ECU will react as though the battery has been disconnected.
Starting a vehicle with a weak battery can certainly cause the battery voltage to dip severely.
As Pete suggests, check your alternator too.
But get your battery tested before replacing it.
I had a battery that I thought had failed.
I bought a new one.
Now I have two good batteries !
Which, actually, is very handy, as I always have one one charge; just in case.

Aha, thank you! Is there any way of calibrating this fuel economy figure? Mine is way off! It says my average is 4.6km/l but when I actually work it out, its about half that.
Hi Declan,
I think you may need to do your calculation again.
4.6 km/l is 7 mpg !
Surely it cannot be that bad.

Many thanks 🙂
Hello Debs,
Welcome to the Forum.
Good luck with your search.
Plenty to read about too.

Thank you all for taking the time to respond!
I appreciate your comments, though I may not have explained clearly:
My "outage" was as if the battery had been disconnected briefly. The clock must have reverted to default 12:00, and I spotted it an hour later when I next used the van. It required me to reset the windows. But it started perfectly, as it has always done, so it was not flat.
The battery was tested last year and deemed OK.
I use the van almost daily.
This is the first time I've ever experienced a complete "outage".

If the battery was fitted in japan then you need to change it, the vehicles sit around in the auction lots and on board the ship, a battery discharges as there are ECUs and the radio memory that all take power,. once the voltage drops to 10.5volts the cells get damaged and are beyond recovery. You need to check that the alternator is working, with the engine running check the voltage at the battery it should be at least 13.5 volts. P.S. Your pic shows the battery has at some time been upgraded to a 60Ah as the original factory fitted one was 45Ah. check the voltage with the engine off it should be a minimum of 12.1volts and running 13.5v to 14.5v. the vsr relay is there to charge the leisure battery once the starter battery is fully charged.
Hello Graeme,
Do you use the vehicle regularly?
I think it's time for a new battery, or a very good battery charger.
Get your battery tested, Halfords or Kwik Fit, under load.
I think yours is on its last legs.
As Pete says, there is constant current drain, so batteries must be charged regularly, by running or by a battery charger.
A normal (OK) battery will need at least 30 mins charging by engine if the charge has become low.

Hello Chris,
Welcome to the Forum.
This is a very recent topic.

Hi All,
I live in Cambridge, Cambridgeshire.
I would like to get to know people with Aphards, and Alphard Hybrids. I would like to be able to learn from them location-wise.
Service, parts, how done it, who did it etc...
Please get in touch if you also live around here.
Does anybody get his head unit converted in a way to be able to do Apple Car Play? Original head unit, not a changed into something new. I saw it being done on youtube.
Hello Greg,
Welcome to the Forum
Ben Hau for the Head Unit.
He is in Birmingham, and somewhat difficult to reach, as he does the updates on a part time basis.
Search for Ben Hau on this Forum. I think is phone number is mentioned in some of the threads.
The search box is on your home page.
I am sure you have a Toyota dealer in Cambridge.
It is worth checking if they will service your van.
Many main dealers will not touch JDM imports, but some will.

My sliding doors have taken to stopping half way ever now and again. I'm thinking this needs a reset. Following a flat battery the windows were doing the same. I managed to reset them.
Any thoughts?
So, your sliding doors are electric ?
Is your once flat battery fully charged ?
Have you had it tested under load ?
Are the obstruction sensors clean ?

Hi
I have two perfectly good tyres (1200 miles) and need to change the other 2. Do I throw the good tyres away?
Why would you ?
Give them away to a 2wd Alphie owner.
Keep them in the Community.
Perhaps you should declare their size and place them in the For Sale section.

Very nice.
And you have a 'Cyclist' mirror.

I know that surface mount rails can be purchased.
Sorry, I don't know where from.
I would try any VW outfitters.
Some members install surface mount rails immediately behind the front seats for night privacy.
Indeed, I believe, on some early Alphies it was an option.
Black out 'blinds' can be bought that fit on the outside of the windscreen.
Very effective, easy to install and remove; just a problem when stowing while wet !

Hi my 2004 Alphard conversion didn’t come with curtains and I was hoping that someone could give me some advice. I have seen some online from Jap autos in Southampton but they are a bit pricey. Does anyone know a cheaper diy way that I could use to fit either curtains or blinds. Thanks in advance.
I assume you have the rails fitted already ?

Just a couple of minor points.
I read more about problems with Hybrids in these pages, than with the V6.
I think I am correct in saying, the 2.4 timing is chain driven. The 3 litre V6 is belt, the 3.5 litre V6 is chain.
These comments may, or may not, help with your decision process.

Can’t seem to find route to newbie introduction section so here I am!
A searcher for an Alphard, have wheels, will travel.
Gumtree has been studied until eyes are sore.
Former Bongo, the Burstner owner.
going back to campervan size as we moved to a flat a couple of years ago so parking/storage is limited.
This looks like my kind of site!
Hello Gordon,
Welcome to the Forum.
There is an Introduction Section. Click on the Forums button top left of your home page.
There is also a For Sale section, where you may find just what you need.
There are several specialist companies that are able to provide both converted and non converted Alphards and Vellfires.
You could make a good start with Funky Ram; a trade member of this Club.
Plenty of reading to do. Good Luck.

Hello All
I have had my 07 hybrid since August last year and it has broken down twice. Each time it could not be fixed on the side of the road and had to be transported home on a recovery vehicle via RAC. first time it broke down was back in November. My local mechanic Colin Campbell recommended a specialist and Alfie was taken to Brightspark Autos in Southbourne nr Emsworth. Peter Holland gave it a check over, replacing 2 hybrid battery cells, checked the electronics gave it a road test and it was good to go. This cost £530. I broke down on side of A34 this last monday. I'd stopped for some lunch and engine would not start. The green READY light started to illuminate, then nothing, engine did crank a bit. Peter who fixed before is busy for a month. Any suggestions please.
Hello Michael,
Welcome to the Forum.
Sorry to hear your early Alphie ownership has been problematic.

Hi Roger the centre row is still in place and the floor is carpeted I don’t have a dog but my moggy used to travel with us and I’m hoping to take her with me. I haven’t thought about travelling in winter but it is something I may consider. One other thing is there any kind of cooking implements that maybe you have found useful, and also is it worth considering an awning. Thanks for your help so far.
I can't advise on an awning. I don't have one.
Many members do though, and there are lots of threads on here about their experiences.
Will you need to tether the cat; to prevent it running off when you are parked up?
Technical, dogs must be restrained when travelling. I assume cats would need to be also.
Cooking implements. We have a Melamine table set. Simple cruets, cheap kettle for gas hob, cheap cutlery. Three good kitchen knives and a bread knife.
We also have EHU (Electric Hook Up, 240v) for low power appliances.
Cooking in your van is a challenge as you do not want steam or fumes inside.
Salads, tinned fish and meat, make life much easier.
There is an increasing number of pubs offering free overnight stays.
They do expect you to eat there. Some have EHU and showers too, for a very reasonable charges.
I feel sure you will have most of what you need from your caravanning days.
Visit Go Outdoors and have a browse at what is available. You will be surprised.

Hi sorry not to have replied sooner. I will probably be visiting the Cotswolds and the south coast to start probably on a site.I have absolutely nothing so I will be starting from scratch, the Alphie has a rear conversion with sink hob and coolbox. My problem is that after having a twin axle caravan where space wasn’t a problem I now need to rethink what I need and how much I can take with me.
Hello again Chris,
As a solo Alpharder you should have plenty of room, but, I guess, it depends on the duration how long your trip.
You will soon develop a "place for everything, and everything in its place".
Presumably you have a leisure battery and split charger to power your cool box.
We only 'go way' for short spells and, we find, the biggest challenge is drying wet clothes and a wet dog.
We bought clothing that doesn't get wet, Goretex is shake dry and the moisture does not penetrate the surface.
There are other technologies/brands that achieve the same.
The dog is a different matter. We have a storage box for dry towels, and another for wet towels.
Many campsites do have drying facilities.
Were the middle row of seats removed a s part of your conversion ?
Do you have a hard floor, or carpeted ?
Where there's a will there's a way.
Will you be travelling in winter ?
