  1. Yes up to 2010 Alphards show up after that only vellfire. Just have to wait for the data programmer to input more models, might be this year if we are lucky! Is Advance an insurance co?
  2. If you check out our recent posts you will find were trying to get insurance to change dropdowns to Alphard/ vellfire on comparison sites due to heafty increases in premiums to get a bit more choice. Best response i had so far is a reply from moneysupermarket who said the following "Hi Alan, I will pass on your feedback to the team regarding the vehicle not appearing on our website, I have no control of the vehicle lookup service as it is an external company used. I will however ensure that your points are passed on. Have a great day.
  3. I have found Direct Line very good in past, been with them many years - infact mostly been with them since the were started with RBS and it was free to pay monthly-never had a claim. If I start a new quote with direct line on line it gives me a new quote only 44% incresase over last year. (better than 57%) The comparison sites useing a vellfire come out roughly-from 15% more than last years cost so very tempting considering a vellfire is the same vehicle - problem being all the comparisons use the same dropdown list. So far only Direct line have Alphards listed after 2010. Aviva just fobbed me off saying not on list. I cant see a way of tempting the comparison sites of ammending to Vellfire/Alphard on listing. Oh, could px Alphard for a vellfire!
  4. Just had my renewal notice from Direct line for 2.4 2011 Alphard, its gone up 57% from last year ond i only did 1300 miles and no changes! Trying to swap to another but the comparison sites dont recognise Alphards past 2010 only vellfires. Moneysupermarket said contact your prefered choice and they can ammend which i tried for them to say we cant insure an Alphard but can a vellfire as its not in the dropdown! Would calling an Alphard a vellfire invalidate insurance? as it is the only option available.
  5. Hi, yep they slapped another 10% on last years price in line with inflation. I pay just under £29 a month, quite a bit considering i only do a couple of thousand miles a year in it.
  6. Hi, Be great to see a video or series of pictures on how this all goes together😀
  7. Hi I have also considered this but did recently read Morrisons were giving up selling LPG by end of year ( i cant find article at mo) so best make sure you can get supplier nearby.
  8. Hi, just checked their web page and shows in stock, give them an email or get your local fitter to contact them. instruction pdf also on site.
  9. Hi, Ive used toothpaste and "t cut" in the past, It does work but takes an age.
  10. Hi, these have been on ebay from time to time, I'm after the 1491 kit for gen 2, now they are now rare, Been refunded by several sites that had them listed but they dont take the listing down. Only proper seller i found was a Euro dealer. and finding that was too tricky to complete. ( there was an ebayer who was after £200 for the 1491= too ££ for me) I wonder if anyone has a close up picture of these items to find out whats involved to manufacture them. or find the equivalent part.
  11. Prices are being worked out, this was a pre production one off template to check fitment for full production . Should be available very soon
  12. Hi, sorry to hear your still having problems, Im not a mechanic, a quick look up on youtube gave some potential problems that will set an engine light in the order i found on the video. 1/ mass airflow sensor dirty or faulty (+ check air filter and pipework for leaks) 2/catalytic converter fault-Full! 3/o2 sensor /sensors 4/ plugs & coils 5/ fuel cap seal damaged an obd11 reader might help find a fault i would also clean or replace a "pcv" crank case vent valve. + apparently cvt gearbox and speed sensor faults can also set an engine warning light Hope you can find a good mechanic to fix.
  13. Great news for Gen-2 Alphard owners that are looking for a detachable towball. My van has just had a successful trial fitting of a new towbar developed at the manufacturers -Tow Trust Towbars in the Midlands. Will now go into production and offered in fixed flange, swan neck and detachable options.
  14. Hi, I think the main difference is in the rear, it has two solid lounge " fixed armrest"chairs/seats as opposed to more flexible movable armrest versions & possibly no third row.
  15. There seems to be better supply of towbars for gen 1 Alphards (on K platform) I tried to get hold of a PCT gen 2- ANH20 towbar but strangely was refunded on purchase. (possibly-probably fitting problems) Fortunately I replied to a request on here via Carl Millis-Technical design engineer at Tow Trust Towbars Ltd who are actually going into production of the ANH20 towbar ( New MC platform) They have used my Van as a template to fit, The first bar is now made & painted ready to be trial fitted early next week (early June 2023) They will soon be able to supply bars in either fixed flange, swan neck and detachable versions. All manufactured with the latest lazer cutting and high tech forming equipment by "Tow Trust " in Warwickshire -Great Britain!
  16. Its possible the sliding door latching/ locking mechanism is a bit tired "tc anything goes" did a video on youtube to fix the problem on his Alphard.
  17. Please could anyone with gen 2 vehicle confirm what distance they have from the road to top of wheel arch so I can confirm/ compare ride height. I have 18" aftermarket wheels plus runflat tyres and have slightly more gap front than rear. no rubbing issues /problems just wondering if ride height different on mine. Thanks
  18. Hi, I have found plenty gen 1, 02-08 years on ebay but 2nd gen 2008 on are like hens teeth at the moment. I'm after one myself, thought I landed lucky but was refunded straight away and no stock until further notice.
  19. Hi, I was in a similar predicament choosing which one, was set on a 3.5L chain cam engine but In the end i went for the sensible choice ( fewer garages know about hybrids and repair costs potentially quite high on a 15 year old , yes toyota hybrids are good we have one- Auris ) the 3.5 may only average low 20 mpg the 2.4l low 30 the 2.4cvt is nice and I have read more reliable the the 3.5 tc gearbox:) If you dont do too many miles the 3.5L would be very nice (though ive read correct oil changes critical on that engine- sludging issues) perhaps add lpg to help running costs.
  20. Hi, try beal.org.uk/ beal uk ltd. They do assorted clips though I'm not certain they stock the actual ones needed.
  21. My Alphard came from Singapore and has a 3M solar film on the inside of the glass, It does tend to look a bit misty. Wondering if its likely to degrade over time and become slightly more opaque?
  22. Hi, we had an Auris that was/were notorious for filling rear lights and boot with water, garage wanted £100's to reseal so i drilled a couple of 2mm holes at base of plastic lens. worked a treat.
  23. I picked up a used set for Toyota Yaris 2004 model year on eBay for about £20 they fit. Same bolt pattern on lots of Toyotas.
  24. Hi, If you want the latest n greatest headunit reviews its worth a Youtube visit and a view on "Saab unleashed" channel. Nice in depth honest reviews and advice Its by far the best I found.
