  1. Hi, just a guess, I'm not a mechanic but might be an ABS wheel sensor not reading to the PCM
  2. We had a replacement in our car and fitter (autoglass) said they can get them for Alphards
  3. Hi, lots on eBay to choose from. Tow Trust fiited my Gen 2 with a detachable-very neat, though not sure if they make a Gen 1 bar.
  4. Hi, a couple on eBay at the moment, It might repair with hot staples.
  5. Hi again, if you are after a specific vehicle it might be better to self import - I went through Algys OK but not without a few issues.Even the garage this end had good things to say about:-
  6. Hi I changed one on our yaris and it doesnt rotate- thats why you need a special socket with slot in to remove
  7. Hi, I was adamant about having a 3.5 v6 then reality dawned! Even though i do few miles in the Alphard i was after reliability, after many many hours of research it seems the 2.4 with the cvt has a better reputation longer term- on forums i visited than a torque converter set up. Early hybrids were trouble later ones much better. We have an Auris hybrid and its great, battery is guaranteed for 15 years if you get a service or £35 check up every year (10 years on drive train. We are finding our dealer staff less accomodating than previous years) Youtube "car care nut" knows them all inside out and there shouldn't be many issues with a toyota hybrid if serviced properly but its finding a good centre that can actually fix them if you do have a problem. There was a problem mainly in America with early 2.4 buring oil but there was a dealer fix.(new rings) i put the recommened 0w20 oil in my Alphard and it did seem to loose a splash every tank full petrol, now put in 5w30 and will see how that goes. ( the permissible loss is quite high on Toyota vehicles)
  8. just spotted one on ebay £250 plus £100 post not cheap though says oem.
  9. Hi potential problem will be getting hold of LPG as a few big names are no longer going to sell it.
  10. Hi, I would think twice about a merc, I had a "Vito sport x" for 10 years, I do very low mileage but read up on broken springs, eating batteries, starter motors and glow plug replacement.+ dpf sensors! + Tyres seem to wear out quickly and are expensive, found it to be a bit of a money pit ( nice to drive though!)
  11. The comparison sites for me were the cheapest, though their drop down menu on vehicle type called anything later than 2010 a vellfire. One insurer did say they would take it up with the software supplier others just said mehh! It might be better now but in the end went with National Farmers union -NFU a mutual and includes basic breakdown cover and no charge for 12 payments Need a bit of time to chat through policy as not totally on line, though you do get a UK centre.
  12. Caught 22 mice in a shed with the Pest-Stop Trip-Trap Mouse Trap. works best with chocolate! I let them go in a nearby field - must of found their way back! Now have two cats they just eat them! The ultrasonic deterants dont seem to work, had a mouse living under a fridge in an outhouse with the ultrasonic devic plugged in above.
  13. Hi, I had what i thought was a problem a little similar in that the front wasnt getting /staying warm on a slightly longer trip. i left the expansion tank top off while parked idelling for a while incase of airlock. i took what was easy to remove around lower centre consul to check blend actuator and that was working fine. I think the problem for me was just stuff in the back piled up around rear vents under seats that seemed to shut off the front heat Now its colder might check again
  14. super video about this engine -how it goes together on the tube
  15. Hi, some on ebay at the moment.
  16. Hi we had a new winscreen on our Auris and fitter didnt put some gel between sensor and screen, = meant didnt work properly. The second fitter came along put some in and voila working fine now, so maybe gel degrading but just a maybe!
  17. Hi, eBay have lots of sellers of bushes, Though unsure about the actual press tool needed to remove.
  18. OOps, its a beam axle not a live axle sorry for confusion!
  19. Hi Roger, I found a really good notice from Chris.ac which illustrates the settings, though unsure how to go about getting some adjustment.
  20. I have swapped to NFU mutual, It was bit long winded as they call back and so you need some tme for them but offered free basic breakdown and free monthly payments and were nice enough to talk to. Direct line quote was better on a new on line quote and they did try harder when i went to cancel autorenew. When the comparison sites get the change to Alphard/vellfire for 2010 and later there should be much more competition.
  21. Hi, I had a free tracking check at Just tyres and they found that my drivers side rear wheel is tracking in maybe 4mm in relation to drivers front. Being a live axle with very little adjustment is there a solution? They said might be a worn shock or maybe possible to shim but? I recall someone asked same question a while back but cant find it in search. Any Suggestions? Thanks
  22. I have now tried Advance on line, got to end- choose car and didnt recognise my alphard! might be better to call but I'm getting a bit tired of filling in any forms!
