As an import my Alphard is classed as 0g of CO2 and will result in £0 vehicle excise duty/ Road Fund Tax, is this right or is there a rule that imported cars are going to hit hard by VED in April 25?

It's a fixed import rate, which is considerably less than a euro equivalent. 

If it was categorised correctly, you'd probably be paying over £480, so don't rock the boat.

 

12 months for a 2010 3.5lt was £345 this month, vs £295 in 2023.

It's an import, so will fall into the same tax bracket.

 

Although i don't open a hybrid, so i could be wrong

 

Without an officially published emissions cert, it will be closed as an import PLG

Hi, just completing V55/5 to register my 2006 Alphard 3.0ltr and need to confirm the new April 2025 tax rates -  I am a bit unsure of the V149 tax rates (here)

 

Please can I check I have this correct -  will it be £360 as per image below (PLG weighing no more than 3500KGs) ?

My reading of it says Yes - 360 UKP. 

Its classified as 'PLG (Private/Light Goods)' rather than Light Goods, no sign of Euro there either so those tables can be ruled out, as can motorcycles and tricycles, and I suspect that arguing that it's a car won't go very far so the only table that fits is the one you have there for the next tax year. 

What makes me chuckle a little is that our other car, a Hyundai Kona Electric, is currently at 0 UKP (for one more day - so I have just renewed that) but next year will be 10 UKP - though it will be increasing after that.

I believe I am bringing some balance to the universe by being at opposite ends of the road tax spectrum (I can't afford a Veyron etc. so I am being realistic about the width of the spectrum).

Thanks very much for confirmation much appreciated - I actually sent off my V55/5 last week but I went with PLG at £360 for the coming tax year (01/04/25) so hopefully it will be good. I looked on the internet at other forums such as Elgrand Forum and all seem to use this catgeory. 

 

I am in a similar position to you with my other car - been looking at an electric car to balance out my upcoming extreme petrol/tax usage with the Alphard! The Kona looks a good option. 

Hi, can anyone tell me how much the road tax will be for a Toyota alphard 2013 please ? A rough idea,  much appreciated. 

£363.24 for our 2002 2.4 AH10, paying monthly. 

Has anyone tried to re classify the vehicle with dvla? I mean enter the co2 output which it actually uses then tax would be around the 200 mark.
