  1. I am still with Aviva (on other vehicles), but they did fail to renew when I had the conversion done.
  2. Double click on the large 'button' top left of his thread
  3. Picasso should be able to tell you which chip and where to buy it. He will also advise you to solder it into the circuit.
  4. Hello Victoria, Welcome to the Forum. There is a whole lengthy thread on Insurance. You can search from the top rhs of your home page. If yours is not a camper conversion it just needs a little persistence; preferably avoiding the on-line quote engines.
  5. Hello Elizabeth, Welcome to the Forum. Do you mean awning ? If so there are several, at least, threads on the popular topic. You can search from the top rhs of your home page.
  6. Hello John, Welcome to the Forum
  7. Seller requested to add MOT status, as per Conditions of Sale
  8. Just be careful stepping off a kerb to under an open tailgate ! Nev, where did you get your struts from ?
  9. Which head-unit you you have ?
  10. Hello Bob, Welcome to the Forum.
  11. You should consider adding them to the Recommended Garages section of this Forum.
  12. Hello Igor, Welcome to the Forum. You send a Private Message.
  13. OK, good. But 2008 is a crossover year from the Generation 1 models to the Generation 2. Take a look at Jay's photo above. Does your rear quarter have that styling 'crease', or is it smother. 4 inch square, as in Jay's photo, is probably correct. They require a specific plug to fit in the socket correctly. As in the photo, they will not fully close while plugged in.
  14. What vehicle do you have ? What year ? Alphard were not made in 1998. Have you got a 'proper' EHU connection, or a home-made type ?
  15. Hello Helen, Welcome to the Forum. Snows Torbay quoted me; £800, at a guess. 3 or 4 years ago. I am told, the garage opposite the car park for South Devon College, in Paignton, will work on Alphies.
  16. Fuse 14 is, as you know, for the Panel; 'switch illumination and air conditioner illumination'. Fuses, as we all know, blow for a reason. If your unit has become faulty, it may have blown the fuse again. Despite needing to be a contortionist, it may be worth checking it again. If it has blown again I suggest you now have a hard fault. Normal approach would be substitution (which can be risky even if you have a spare) or isolation. Are you sure everything else is working apart from that control panel, and what it controls ?
  17. Hello Gary, Welcome to the Forum. Quite a reasonable cost.
  18. Did you disconnect that battery before starting the work ? Are there any other electrical functions that no longer operate correctly ? You may have blown a fuse, any other function issues may help identify which fuse (if any).
  19. Hello Colin, Welcome to the Forum. As an import, many of the on-line sites will not recognise an Alphard. I suggest you shortlist a few companies, and there are many examples within this forum, and phone them. You can, of course, have a broker do all that for you; but at a premium.
  20. Hello Michael, Welcome to the Forum.
  21. The offset above is correct. The wheels / tyres are one of the standard sizes. It is very important to have the minimum speed rating. There is an opinion that says campers are heavier than the standard. Some, including myself, hold the opinion that the camper is probably slightly lighter against a fully loaded eight adult seater. However, some of us do fit XL tyres for added 'safety'. XL are extra load, not extra large ! Get your tyre fitter to confirm correct fit; but he will. Do not forget to tell your insurance company if fitting non-OEM type wheel/tyre combinations. Otherwise you may find your insurance invalidate.
  22. Try and stay with the OEM sizes for wheels and tyres; or very close. The OFFSET is very important; it is normally marked on the inside of the wheel rim. Check the OEM value. Fitting larger wheels with a smaller sidewall tyre height (55/60/65) will harden the ride somewhat. You may wish to check before doing anything with your insurer. Nice new wheels can increase premiums, and do not forget to fit a locking nut on each wheel.
  23. Hello Lewis, Welcome to the Forum. We are all so sorry to hear of your situation. Did you buy privately, or from a business ? If a business, contact them immediately. What else can you do ? So it was cranking before the ran battery down ? Was it a normal fast crank, or somewhat sluggish ? It's unlikely to help, but have you tried to use jump leads ? On many Alphies, even a low battery will prevent the van cranking. I'll see what I can do to help; but probably nothing. If you can, please send me your phone, registration and exact location by Private Message.
  24. You could try Dyernostics in Bodmin. Further away from home, but not that much. He must be worth a phone call.
  25. Have you checked the recommended mechanics section in this Forum ?
