  1. It is easy to do. Let us all know if the RAC fix it. If not we'll tell you how to do it.
  2. That negative terminal needs a clean, soft wire brush (while the battery is out) and be gently. Don't be surprised if your door windows won't work from the drivers door. This normal after a battery disconnect. Moon roof too, if you have one. Don't worry, there is an easy process to restore proper functionality.
  3. If you need to do this 8x4 transport...... If have not tried this, there are many sophisticated safety interlocks on these vehicles. It would not surprise me if you cannot drive the vehicle with the tail gate not shut properly. Worth checking, just to be sure
  4. Seems to require an antennae in the dash.
  5. Hi again Alpha, This does not appear to be Toyota remote. Nor am I aware that you vehicle, unless it has been modified, will work with it.
  6. Hi Ian, You need to read up on the DVLA site to ensure Nov and I are correct !
  7. I agree with Nov, but, in addition I have heard that DVLA have made it much more difficult to reclassify a vehicle. Apparently, only 5 per cent of applications are approved. There are a lot of other conditions that must be met to be successful. DVLA have a good explanation, if you feel so inclined.
  8. Which inverter are we referring to ? 1500 watts is referring to Hybrid machines. The 100V inverter in the Gen 1 Alphie V6 is rated at 100 watts. Trying to draw more than 100 watts, ie. 8A will trip the circuit. AlphaMZ please note. Microwave ovens are very quick, but also very inefficient; often about 50 per cent. The magnetron also has quite a surge of current on start up. So don't be surprised if your 600 watt microwave (Kettle or Toaster) takes well over a kilowatt ! So how many kilowatts are they in a 65 Ah battery ? If watts equals amps times volts, 600 watts is 50 A from a 12V source! At 100 per cent efficiency !! As lead acid batteries should not be over discharged; you can envisage the problem. Now if you have a leisure battery, say 110Ah, things become a little more manageable. Low power kettles and microwaves are available, but can be rather slow to function. If we are talking Hybrid machines, that have the READY button that is a different matter. 230v hookup (or Shorepower as I call it) or gas is the way to go ! If you are on shorepower you should have about 16A to play with; so no problem.! Good Luck If we are talking Hybrid machines, that is a different matter. 230v hookup (or Shorepower as I call it) or gas is the way to go ! 9. No, but if the engine isn't running you could soon run your main battery down. The outlet is intended to power (Japanese) entertainment devices whilst on the move.
  10. Hello Nov, I have now heard back from the Owner, you were correct, he had taken action that allowed the adverts. However, he was not aware that the larger membership were being bombarded with adverts. He fell victim to The Law of Unintended Consequences. He assures me he has taken further action to 'undo' this issue. I would be grateful to hear if his (unknown ) corrective action has been successful, or not. Our collective thanks are due to Starider, who raised the issue, and Nov who investigated it.
  11. Try Ldrego on here, or Cuttothechase on Youtube. It may be a Gen 1 though which has a different dash to yours.
  12. You may want to talk with Roma Homes; Northstar Conversions, Cowes. They convert Alphards and may know someone capable with an OBD2 machine that can help you diagnose the issue
  13. If you want TV you could look at Haupuage, or something similar, and feed it through the VTR input. I was going to do this but never tried it, using a PC instead. Japanese TV and UK TV use different frequencies anyway. If my method does work, let us all know; but don't be surprised if it doesn't work unless vehicle is stationary (in Park) and the foot brake is on. Also be aware that Freeview HD is being phased out. I am unaware if the Haupuagge type gadgets provide Freeview Plus. There are always more questions than answers !
  14. Yes the eightseater site is absolutely execllent for those that have that headunit.
  15. Interesting, and useful. Thanks Nov for the effort. I hope you are correct, but I don't get the ads, and my Theme setting is IPB 4.6 !!!!! All very confusing. I am running Windows 10 and Google Chrome on an old Dell XPS with Ad Blocker. I will wait for more feedback on this. I don't want to change my Theme and create the very problem I am trying to solve. Starider, Perhaps your wife can check your Theme setting.
  16. I have a series 10, with the HDD headunit. My unit is an older version. It also, probably, shouldn't pay PAL, but it does !
  17. Hi Dazman DVD should play PAL DVDs; mine does.
  18. I think it is the middle 'rocker' switch RHS. It is difficult to describe. Two triangles, almost like misaligned headlights ! I'll check again tomorrow. Bit late now, the Dog goes bananas !
  19. Are you sure you have cameras ? I expect you do. The lenses are just under the Alphard emblem on the front. It helps if you clean the camera lenses VERY gently. I'm stumped for a moment ! I leave mine on all the time; but they only work between zero and (say) 5 mph. On the screen, there is an area in the lower right hand corner of the touch screen to toggle between the 2 camera (left and right) view and the three camera view (front bumper too). I need to go out to my Van. I believe there is also a steering wheel control button. (rhs). Yes. I just started the engine, engage D, press the steering wheel button and the views should come on. On the screen, there is an area in the lower right hand corner of the touch screen to toggle between the 2 camera (left and right) view and the three camera view (front bumper). As I say, I leave mine on so had forgotten how to use it. It is fantastic for 'Peep and Creep' at blind junctions. Good Luck
  20. Are you aware of Ben Hau and the upgrade he is able to install ? Take a look at YouTube Ben Hau. He posted very recently, albeit for a later model Alphie, but you could contact him. He is on this forum too. About £400 for an all bells and whistles upgrade, or he can do new head unit installs. Hopefully, someone has achieved what you need and will respond.
  21. It is an input to the head unit DVD, but it should take a stereo feed. I am not sure what you are trying to do, so just suggested this as a 'consideration'. You should also be able to pair your phone to the head unit. I was going to input a stereo/video signal, but, in the end, bought another PC for the van for TV, Radio and communications when not on the move. I need to look at my MD unit !
  22. Thanks for this Nov. I am waiting to hear from the Owner, hopefully very soon. Otherwise, I'll write to his personal email. Not the PM system on here, but his actual email.
  23. So are the holes existing, or have you drilled and tapped ? I don't need a roof rack, but it is a common question to the Forum. It certainly looks extremely neat. Thanks for sharing it.
  24. Hi again Starider, It may be Google, but I am using Chrome and not getting the ads ! I am checking with the Forum Owner.
