  1. Hi Chris, I need to check this "dipping mirror" function. I have it on another car and it is hugely useful in helping me avoid kerbing the alloys. This feature is more useful, to me, than the self cleaning mirrors. I have my conversion done now, just waiting for the cushions which are being made in Exeter. After New Year I'll be playing with all the buttons and switches; and I have loads ! Getting used to the machine before we set off adventuring.
  2. Great, but where from ?
  3. Seems as though the series 10 is not there. Pity. I expect a lot of similarity with the later cars though. Great find Chris, Thanks.
  4. I think I have the fancy mirrors too. With the current weather I'll soon find out. Did you say it needs the Sun to work? I'll have to wait until Spring then !
  5. Hi Chris, Just a little credit to Ldrego. as I believe this comes from his Cuttothechase youtube channel. Thanks for including it in this thread.
  6. The link needs to to be typed in to Google. The link does not work for me as a direct hyperlink. But did work as a search address. Thanks Chris.
  7. That yellow lights seems to be a Brake warning light. ( ! ) Probably not the ABS though as that warning has a slightly different symbol (ABS) OK, there is some software called Techstream. Some say it's a free download; I believe you can rent it, daily, weekly, etc. Search for Toyota Techstream. It is the official diagnostic tool (but may not cover Alphies). I expect most codes are similar.
  8. Hi Jeff, I feel sure the later models can be converted, but I haven't seen any yet. To be honest, I have not seen a late models on the road yet either. (But I live in "Sleepy Devon"). My opinion on this, and it is an opinion, is that there a so few post 2015 vehicles about (at the moment) that there is is no commercial market yet for the conversions. So no one is doing them. I suggest you phone the better convertors and ask them ! Which ones come to mind? There is a list on this Forum (somewhere). I can also anticipate that swivel seats in the middle row will be a problem on later models; until, that is, some enterprising company ..... I do not have a view on the Nissans. All newer vehicles are becoming ever more complex. Tapping into their systems could prove tricky for the unwary.
  9. Isn't the right most yellow light the footbrake tell tale. As your vehicle appears stationary I would expect that light to be on !
  10. I don't have a hybrid and I can't suggest a suitable code reader. Cuttothechase on youtube, Ldrego in the Forum has a video where he is using an OBD machine. Drop him a PM he may be able to help suggesting which unit he has. I found it very interesting that low type pressure can trigger the VSC warning light. If there is an ABS fault (I'm not suggesting there is) the VSC will not operate. VSC will not operate under 1 5kph anyway. There is a note in my handbook (not in the Hybrid section) that states "When starting the engine or moving immediately after the engine has been started, a noise can be heard from the engine bay. This is simply the sound of an (VSC?) operation check and not a fault" My handbook also states "the condition of tyres can influence the (VSC) system greatly so check the tyres carefully". (Not explicitly stated but I assume this refers to tyre pressures too).
  11. Hi Chris, This link did not work for me. Error message says site has security protection enabled !
  12. Hi Donald, Welcome to the Forum. Now you have me worried. I have a rear conversion, if I cannot open my tailgate I will be in big trouble. Never even thought about it until now !
  13. Hello Gabs, So sorry to hear of the issues with your Alphie. The only sensible suggestion I have is to take it to a Toyota dealer. They must have experience with the Toyota Hybrid system. I know some are huffy about working on grey imports; but they are not all like that. There must be some helpful Toyota dealers near your location.
  14. Ah, insuring an unregistered vehicle. My guess is 'no can do'. You need to get it transported. Normally the procedure, I believe, is import, then MOT (using trade plates), then registration, then insurance, then legal to drive on her Majesty's roads !
  15. Hello Jeff, To be honest, on a 2018, I have absolutely no idea. Should be immaculate as most Japanese vehicles in Japan are well maintained. Earlier versions can experience issues with bushes (as do many other vehicles). Buying a 2018 won't be inexpensive. When I bought my machine I paid for a AA / RAC inspection. About £300, and very reassuring.
  16. Wow, really good to know.
  17. Welcome to the Forum. Lots to read about.
  18. I'm sorry, but I don't know. Picasso might.
  19. Great idea Nov, but usually applies to any car you do not own.
  20. Welcom to the Forum. Just a thought .. Have you considered insuring for a month, or a year; then cancelling after a few days. You will get charged but on a pro rata basis. You would also have some protection under Distance Selling Regulations, although I am no expert on these matters.
  21. Welcome to the Forum.
  22. Welcome to the Forum. Alphards, and Vellfires, that are 10 years old, or more, are much easier to import. There are more import issues to overcome with the newer vans. Plus, the latter vehicles are much more expensive. Many of us Alpharders are not young anymore, so cast can be an issue. Are you importing one yourself, or purchasing one already imported ?
  23. So Geoff; you could have two ! Good luck with your search.
  24. I think you need a charge controller; not just plug the panel into your cigarette socket. Kits are available. High Top or Pop Top ?
  25. There are swivel mechanisms available for the front seat. They are expensive. I think the centre console is removed, not for walk through, but to allow the seat to fully swivel. According to the supplier (on the IOW) the the swivels won't fit the middle 7 seater seats. The larger 8 seater seat won't fit the 7 seater seat rails. The smaller 8 seater seat will. So two of the smaller 8 seater seats should fit , and swivel. Hope this is clear !
