Electrical outlets
Rojie is correct. You can take the power from center box and rum some cables to the back, that's what I did. Or get a inverter installed for a fridge and have a leisure battery installed. I think I did post some wiring diagrams in this area.

Timing belt change
Every 75,000 miles or every 3 years.

Swap Indicator and Wiper Stalks
The only way would be to repin the connectors, as each vehicle is different. There should be some wiring diagrams on the manual section i put in last year. If not I can spool up my virtual machine with Toyota's wiring on it and have a look.

New to forum - need advice please
The all use the same runners, the seats will lock in the slider and open the catch. To remove the runner you have to unbolt it from the underside of the vehicle i believe.

metal shavings stuck to magnet in gearbox
It's normal to get shavings in there that's why there is magnets. Over time the gear box will shave a little. So only be concerned if you have any gearbox problems such as gears slipping, grinding, problems getting into gears or surging. Other than that just give the gear box 3 - 4 flushs of fluid, leaving around 30 - 40 miles per flush as half is contained within the gearbox itself.

Toyota software for head unit and firewire 400 lead
You can't, I've been through the coding on this unit. It's just for firmware upgrades within the OS of the head unit. You can't actually download anything on the hard disk. I feel your pain I was trying to get hold of Toyota Japan and see if i can get the base code for the unit so I can alter it for the UK market. However they won't let saying its protected software. The only way is to remove the hard drive from the unit itself and jack it directly into a pc.

Headlights
I use lens cleaner for headlights then clear laquer with uv protection. still have to do it every year but it's better than every 6 months.

Brakes upgrade?
Alphard servo/drums give longer travel length. There is really no way of improving them unless you replace all rubber lines with race lines (metal braided lines, available from Ben Hau).
-
replacement handbrake cable
Check the length. You might find it from another vehicle. On ebay there are the right and left side. ns one This may be the blueprint version. Not sure if it fits though check the measurements.

Camper ideas
Welcome, removing seats is a nightmare. As you'll need to remove the floor bolts that the sliders sit on. Putting in a swivel chair is a fairly easy thing to do. However you must notify the DVLA when removing seats, altering for a swivel seat then it will have to go to a VOSA station for re classifying.

VSC notification
VSC is traction control. I would check the speed sensors. might be some dirt on one of them

A new to buying a Alphard questions...
Hi Pete & Sam, Welcome to the forum. I'll try and answer the questions direct and short. 1) If you import you get pot luck, but buying from a deal at least you can see it first and go through it. 2) 3.0 for a camper/conversion. As i found the 2.4's gutless uphill 3) does not matter which year. I found that the 3.0L on the 2002 - 2005 great it's a Lexus non interferance engine so if the cam belt goes your engine does not. 4) YES that's a must be done over in the country. 5) Toilet, fridge and heating. 6) has it had a new cambelt & when was the last service.

Rear screen - how to open it?
This can only be done via Toyota Techstream. Which cost's pretty penny. It involves reprogramming the ecu which is not for the faint hearted.
