  1. Hi, looking at Japanese car auctions, it seems that car with higher mileage loose value very rapidly as can be seen from screenshot below. I personally have an average build JDM with 100K to clock and runs like new, and has never let me down. I really wonder if the 100K plus miles Alphards/Vellfires JDM should be be avoided? Cars with motorway miles in Europe are usually ok. Wonder how the miles clocked on Japanese roads compare? Or is it a very subjective question? I am basically thinking instead of buy a low miles, high auction grade, older model vs newer car with higher miles and similar auction grade.
  2. Good point Chris but this remote start in winter month’s might be usecase only when the car is in one’s driveway(private space). It’s a feature that’s so many cars have so can’t be illegal as long as it is not in public space
  3. Tweets can be great to keep posted but I believe initial chat could also be on a whatsapp group to get things going. Perhaps group facilitators can start one. I suggested on one post to join this JDM one if anyone is interested. https://chat.whatsapp.com/FtNJuyGwAowBH2Co6K2N3Y
  4. Wonder what trim is yours - 350s/x/G/G-L package etc?
  5. That's front wheel drive I suppose (and not 4WD)?
  6. Hi someone with background in auto matters mentioned Toyota were planning on selling Alphards in UK market. Anyone heard anything like that or is it just Chinese whispers? I don't understand why they don't sell these lovely family vans in European markets? Doesn't make any sense..
  7. We do the same 😀 it works really well In Scandinavian parking are plug in points.. They are lovely. Thankfully we don't need them as much but there are days when toy wish for them
  8. This was discussed on this forum before - Ben Hau Birmingham contact seems to be not available if you try to Google it. It's he Council Tourism Officer who does audio work in spare time? We really need common database of contacts and stuff
  9. Nice one Paul. Do you mind sharing some more details on this like what is model and make of unit you got? Any link? Cost? Fitting charges? Location / contact for fitting person? I would say you done well if everything works including most importantly the camera!

  11. This is exactly what I had in my mind and was going to order 100v usb multi plug from Japan but if a quality one available in UK itself, why not. I'm wary of cheap ebay ones, the last thing we need in car is fire from overheated electronics. But this is simple and best option. Why bother doctoring things unnecessarily. This add on if it fails, you can get another one, no surgery needed
  12. I see, I thought it was post under remote start, so got my hopes high 🙂 I wish we could get remote start installed here in UK, worth paying for those extra cold winter mornings.. 🌨️❄️☃️
  13. Hi Darren is that for remote start key? To use in winter months? Or you mean the normal key
  14. Thanks Chris, highly knowledgeable as always 👍 This seems to be talking about it ^..I'll look more into it and what all is needed, where to get empty key etc.
  15. I'll try to dig but please keep sharing your finds By the way keyshell for Gen 2 Key https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/195048277984
  16. Wonder if anyone done GEN 2 key programme (keyless entry type)
  17. Hi wonder if anyone got installed / purchased remote start key for Alphard or Vellfire in UK. This is usually a dealer optional extra with the cars in Japan.
  18. I was going to ask if anyone done remote start key? But I'll start new thread for that as it is a topic in itself. By the way also please share the eBay link
  19. That's some achievement 👍👌🥳 Do you mind sharing the instructions or share pointers / resources used?
  20. I have a feeling 4WD are not popular at auctions either so if not clocking too many miles can be good buy. Thanks for sharing the graph and it can go to mega thread for fuel economy, unless already there
  21. Not sure I understood you Rojie Winter Complectation is listed on above page under section TOYOTA VELLFIRE 3.5 Z G EDITION EXTERIOR Irrespective of Gen, what is it and is exterior option. Paint? Coating? Chains? Anyway considering car with this option might be from north cold parts of Japan, I think best to give it a miss
  22. I can’t seem to find what is Toyota winter complectation https://specs.cars-directory.net/toyota/vellfire/3.5_Z_G_edition_38215.html what’s best way to find such information than bothering with a lazy post ? (I tried Google for a bit..)
  23. It could be interesting if you were to share the work cost /details receipt once it is done (redacted personal details obviously)
