  1. Morning Rojie instead of one / few bearing the cross, community effort works best. It is not as hard as it looks. Example this can be freely edited by anyone and can be really good meeting ground -> https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rclJkgZ2UZnSORT2u7Csl8w3lS8IQdIt9cau8p16R48/edit?usp=sharing Please try let's see if it works
  2. I understand it comes as unpleasant surprise when we buy less than 3.0L Hondas Toyota and they don't have Cruise control. So it is not only Toyota thing. Some helpful fella and YouTuber warned about it. Link to one of his videos below if anyone likes to watch
  3. Hi Chris/Moderation group, apologies if already exists, if not, I would like to suggest creation of a compilation of the queries / answers / resources / FAQs, all into a shared spreadsheet or page. Usually a shared google spreadsheet with public link could work quite well. Or on an ongoing basis, important / interesting posts can be linked to a common landing page. Any thoughts?
  4. Thanks Pcous for your reply. That's helpful. Power of community spirit. This group is super useful. We need to advertise it more somehow πŸ€žπŸ‘πŸŽŒπŸŽŒπŸŽŒπŸŽŒπŸ‘‹
  5. Who is running the forum actually? Are there admins who can answer such questions? Also do they moderate? Don't mean anything..just curious
  6. I keep wondering how can we increase membership of this forum..
  7. Thanks but looking at the paperwork, taxes and prices I'm thinking I'm also unlikely to go for such a new vehicle. 10-12 years old is the sweet spot it seems πŸ‘
  8. The vehicle I was looking at is not the case in point. Question is simple, general and applicable to all import. Looks like this forum need more members..only handful active ones reply. I'm don't mind calling dvla but tbh this is not an unusual query Doing online search, quote - You might not need approval for a vehicle that was first registered or manufactured more than 10 years ago. https://www.gov.uk/importing-vehicles-into-the-uk/getting-vehicle-approval I guess that's the answer.. I might look up dvla number and call them but some members must know this already I don't need to reinvent the wheel..
  9. I've been hearing about 10 year old vehicle and rule -> IVA check is needed if it is lesser than 10 year old. I have a question - is it 10 year from date of manufacture or 10 year from date of registration in Japan Related question - the number plate we get in UK, is it decided by manufacture date or registration date in Japan 🎌. Thanks
  10. Thanks Chris. Simple to stay with 10 year plus vehicle then
  11. Indeed only couple of years back. It is highly unlikely someone in this group has LM 350 or LM 300h but not assuming I'll be over the top if can grab a 2015 Alphard model.. Let's see. I'm thinking rather save stretch and buy once this..
  12. Another very useful tip / contact πŸ‘ thankyou
  13. Guys any proud Gen 3 owners who can share there experience? Gen 3 vs Gen 2, we can read up specs differences but what is the "wise man speak" on this? How these two compare? Is it worth saving up for Gen 3? Sometimes older models are even better. It might be less likely but any proud owners or first hand experience of Lexus version of Alphard? I'm asking for too much here ☺️
  14. I'm thinking best save up for newer Alphards 2015 onwards... do effort of IVA paperwork and happily use the vehicle as "family holiday - land cruiser". As long as it's not off road, Alphard looks like the best bet for family holidays and stuff.
  15. That's awesome πŸ‘ Thanks Chris. I was concerned that 3.5L v6 tax should not suddenly one fine morning jump to 600-700 quid. That could be annoying.
  16. Hi, I've seen the road tax for jdm imports is not cheaper for hybrids and not high for bigger petrol engines. Does anyone knows why? And is this likely to change if concerned govt department /dvla catch up? Any comments? Thanks.
  17. Hi there, what does it mean the front seat have been converted into swivel? It's not factory setting and needs some modifications? Any video?where did you get it done? Does that quality as modification for insurers? It's very attractive idea to be able to have seats turned back with family πŸ™‚
  18. I assume everyone is aware of the various years and versions of Toyota Alphard 2008~ Owner's Manual/Hybrid version etc on Amazon. Example https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00F0U8FZM/ Also see the review of content link below. May be someone need to contact Toyota and they can provide the pdfs..? As easy as email? https://youtu.be/9q5B12ob0Qk
  19. This tyre / alloy size is such complicated topic, that is why I started this thread to find if there was some common knowledge / consensus on what is best for Alphard? What is best for summer, winter icy conditions? Etc Membership on this forum is low it seems. We should post its link on Facebook or something..seems there are thousands there..
  20. Watch this Old Well House.. You will love it how it is explained in simple terms πŸ‘
  21. E5 E10 have 5 & 10 percent ethanol respectively AFAIK. is E5 is 99 octane fuel? I understand E10 regular fuel is 95 octane. Shell v-power is 99 octane. Don't know if it has ethanol mixed in it. Anyone?
  22. As I understand the model codes for Alphard like these.. DBA-GGH20W-PFTQK DBA-GGH20W-PFTQK DBA-GGH20W-VLJBTSP The bits in bold are indicative of model and year. GGH20W being 3.5L v6 2WD I can't bring myself to buy 2008 manufactured car (as my mind was set at 2011..this is mixed bag..registered 2011 June). I've also pm'ed you some details. πŸ‘
  23. Can you please share details as to what the process was like? How much it cost? How much time it took? Etc thanks
