Update! another fill up after a 50/50 mix of motorway and urban roads gave 27mpg.

Anyone dealt with this firm? My son in law is keen to get a people carrier and is impressed with their prices. Their stock looks good.

2002 imported 2.4 campervan conversion down at a local garage for MOT prep. Advisorys include front suspension wear, garages usual spares suppliers not able to get parts quoting ‘it’s an import’! I’m told he might have to go to Toyota😳 I get onto a converter who sold me a great Bongo many moons ago and is now converting Alphards. We use https://www.autojapspares.co.uk/ they tell me. My man tells me what’s needed I give him Autojap details and parts are despatched this morning. 🤞 Further bulletins will be advised 😉😎

Just back from a trip down to Scottish Borders via M74 & M9 with some other minor A roads, well chuffed with 30 mpg. Motorway miles at 60mph, back roads only allowed 40-50 and there were some steep hills from Moffat to Peebles. Converted van with usual luggage for 4 day trip. E10 fuel.

I’ve been studying YouTube too but still haven’t found my ICE unit. Vehicle is an import, 2002 build Alphard G. I’ve seen it given an A10 designation. The unit has a tilt screen, CD & MD and has ‘Toyota 16036’ marked at top left corner. Any assistance welcome 🤞

Hi, the only bit of kit our van didn’t have a manual for was the Waeco fridge. Am I right in thinking the vent control should be left open when unit is empty?

Hi Tony, just changed all wiper blades on our ‘new to us’ Alphard. Certainly had a battle with the rear, behind a bike rack! Arm was tightly stuck on the taper so off came the blade and the fun started changing the rubber part. Halfords only had front screen blades so it looks like rear will be a Toyota part. Luckily I had old blades the right size with useable rubbers so after 30 mins cursing they were fitted to the ‘Toyota’ blade. 1st job on the van & it’s great to get back to tinkering 😂 Continue to be impressed with this forum. BTW, does the Alphard have OBD socket? Gordon

Picked up my new to me Alphard last week and called in for petrol on way home, no E5 at Esso garage 🙄 Huge price difference in our area, maybe 50/50 blend is the answer when filling up to max?

Wow, where is E20 used? If E10 can damage old seals (Viton?) one would expect a higher % would be worse. We got problems offshore with gas compression pipe seals, wrong spec supplied. Not good when it’s pumping at 350+bar 😳

Isn’t it strange that a method of reducing emissions results in an increase in fuel consumption? My Suzuki Vitara 1600 consumption deteriorated by 3mpg after an Esso fill up. A pal who worked in the lab at Grangemouth refinery says he not convinced the ethanol % is accurate. Yamaha stated that their elderly bike engines were ok with E10. Thank goodness, mine are 21 & 19 years old 😂

Thanks for the advice. I favoured the 2.4 also. We got lucky & picked one up today, 2002 model, converted 4 years ago by Direct Campers Ltd. Lovely condition, 50k miles, silver. 108 mile round trip to pick it up. Very conscientious lady owner with excellent folder with all paperwork. Extras included Fiami 2 bike carrier, stand alone awning, brand new porta potty🫢, extra mattresses. Without a doubt one of the best transactions re private vehicle purchase !

A cracker, off to East Ayrshire to view & it was too good to miss. Possibly the most stress free private vehicle purchase I’ve made. A lady owner who has moved to a Motorhome on the insistence of her partner 😂 The conversion done by DirectCampers and it looks top quality. Nothing amiss under the bonnet & underside waxing looks 1st class. Test drive up and down steep country roads had no minus’s. Deal done and it’s parked outside our gaff. Now you members are going to get questioned😂 Our radio only speaks Japanese, anyone got a phrase book😎

Greetings from a new member from north of the border. On the hunt for another campervan after a house to flat move rendered our motor home too awkward to keep. Experience has been a wonderful 4x4 diesel Bongo that did us proud, then a small m/h. Alphard ticks the boxes and although a Granvia fan I feel they’re getting long in the tooth. I’m well impressed with this website and look forward to exchange of info. Gordon Other hobbies 2 x m/bikes, restoration of a 70 year old paddle steamer & a much older Clyde river pedestrian ferry.

Can’t seem to find route to newbie introduction section so here I am! A searcher for an Alphard, have wheels, will travel. Gumtree has been studied until eyes are sore. Former Bongo, the Burstner owner. going back to campervan size as we moved to a flat a couple of years ago so parking/storage is limited. This looks like my kind of site!
