I'm looking to add cruise to my 2003 3.0.

I know it has been done before using an Rx300 actuator with cable, auris or similar 4 pin brake switch, previa cc ECU and control arm.  I have wiring diagrams etc.

I have checked and I have the correct plug under the bonnet, I have the 4 pin wiring for the brake switch but I can't find the plug for the ECU.. I thought it may be behind the coin holder thing under the door switches but I can't see it.  Now looks like it could be under dash behind stereo near glovebox.

Does anyone know for definite where the cc ECU is so I can chase the plug down please?!

Thanks

Hi Alex,

Bit out of my depth here, but ...

I think the assembly behind the front bumper is the distance / radar control.

I also believe it is very expensive to retro fitif at all possible on the early Gen 1.

I also believe that the 'simple  cruise control. can be retrofitted to the Gen 1 facelift, but not the prior model.

Unless you are considering changing the manual throttle body for the fly by wire version !

I have no idea what is involved installing that update.

Good Luck.

What about the simple cruise control?

Chris.ac is very knowledgeable on this subject (among many other subjects).

I believe that in order to work the cruise control system needs to actuate the throttle electrically.

The early Gen 1 vehicles do not have an electrically operated throttle body.

Whether an electrically operated one can be retro fitted is beyond my knowledge.

Send Chris a PM if he doesn't respond to this thread.

The simple cruise control, by my definition, simply tries to maintain the set speed.

The complex system, uses RADAR to maintain the above AND a given distance to the vehicle in front.

The simple system is not linked to the braking system, the complex system is

I apologise if you already know all this !

Hello guys! I've got a 2012 / 61 plate toyota vellfire 2.4 petrol.

And I'm looking to install cruise control on it.. but have no idea which one is the right one or if it can be done. Any guidance on this?

Thank you

I was able to fit a:

  CC stalk (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/184954212553),

  a cover (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/305765478269) and

a replacement cable from a wiper stalk (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/126400441233), the one with the white connector goes to the CC stalk, to give the CC stalk some power I suspect.

It worked straight away on my 2005 facelift model so I'm sure you will be fine to fit the equivalents - which may well be the same items.

Good luck.

I posted in a other forum but thought I'd just share here that I bought the £10 stalk off eBay for my 2008 Vellfire and it fitted super easy and cruise control works. (No light on dash to confirm it's on but soon get used to that).

So a success thanks to this forum

.  Did you end up getting the dash light to light up? If so how. Mines not turning on either.

No luck yet. I've not had the time to remove the stalk and measure the different resistances to see if there's something going on there, I was hoping someone might have found a supplier of a stalk that does trigger the dash lights.
