New owner... Nearly.. Leisure battery
Sounds good. I have a battery charger hooked up to the leisure battery, so if I am on EHU I am also charging my leisure battery. 15m should be long enough, I have 25m. 2.5mm. I have red some campsites are not happy with 1.5mm. Other members will say they have never had any trouble with 1.5mm I have read, on this Forum, that 15m can be too short at some camp sites !

At its simplest. Yes. You need to think very carefully about your conversion if DIY. What will you use the vehicle for? They are so versatile. If getting a professional to do the work you can discuss it with them. If you use campsites an EHU is very useful.

New member hoping to swot up before it arrives!
Hello Holly, Welcome to the Forum Welcome to Alphard/Vellfire ownership. Gas mileage is a function of the distances you expect to cover. A gentle right foot goes a long way, and the V6 engines are smooth and powerful. Your will have a 6 speed gearbox, which helps. There is a thread on here, a Megathread regarding gas mileage, actuals. I believe the headunits on your model, at least the OEM ones are able to be changed to English. Alpine is a good brand, I would not rush to change it. Take a photo of the Alpine when it arrives. You do not have to change the speedo to MPH but most do. It's not a difficult job. You need to buy and fit a different speedo chip. The dials, or meters as the Japanese call them, need to be removed, the chip changed and the dial assembly replaced. Lots of this is covered herein. Lots of reading to do while you wait for the boat to arrive. You will need an MOT before you can register the van with the DVLA.

Van Battery drains very quickly ? Wiring issue
Hi Cazalfie, Welcome to the Forum. Take the van back to Calders, they are one of the best suppliers. They ought to fix it if you only just took delivery of the conversion. The window may be because the battery was replaced. The window controller 'forgets' the settings and closure points. From memory, you half open each window then close it and hold for a few seconds after the window has closed. Then do the next window and so on. All from the drivers door. Ignition on. You may also find your moon roof, if you have one, is also affected.

New owner... Nearly.. Leisure battery
Hello Mark, Welcome to the Forum. No, but if you want to run lights, fans, cool boxes, radios, TVs etc when stationary and be able to start the engine in the morning! Where to put it can be a bit tricky. They are not expensive to install.

DIY
There are self build kits available. A company that I know of is located in Barnstaple. I believe thet will sell a flat pack. I believe Starider has used them (not for flat pack). Send him a PM. Search for him. Go to his home page, and click message.

Hello Steve, Welcome to the Forum. I agree with James. Don't expect the VIN to look anything like a European one, as it won't

Hopefully your dealer will help, as they are expensive ! If not, mention that you have joined the Alphard Club as he may not wish for any adverse publicity.

Hi, need some advice on ULEZ compliance.
Hello Markus, Welcome to the Forum. Welcome to Alphard ownership. Chris is correct about ULEZ. But ULEZ and Congestion charge are not the same. Other cities also have controlled zones (whether they charge is a different matter). Apologies if you know this already.

Best Battery for 3.0 Alphard 2004?
I quickly checked Halfords. The £87 Yuasa one is not the one I fitted, and according to the Tanya 'battery finder' won't fit my van. HSB005 is the one I bought, and it fits perfectly. Caution required.

Fuel
Is this thread duplicated? I feel sure I answered it already ! Copy below. Hello Andy, Welcome to the Forum. There is a long thread on this subject within this Forum. It is a contentious subject, as you will read. Yes it can, but many of us run mixed fuel, E5 and E10, or just E5. Interestingly, many owners note that their economy is better with E5. Others are perfectly happy with E10. In the end, it's your choice.
