  1. Hello Cathy, Welcome to the Forum. If your Alphie is still under warranty, surely you should return it to your seller and have the work done under the warranty. Having said that, I know many Toyota dealers are 'huffy' about working on imports. My local dealer is Snows. They have a larger Toyota dealership in Plymouth. I'll check see if there is a Toyota dealer in Truro. There is also a Toyota specialist in Bodmin. His name escapes me but I can find it if you need it. He should be OK with the engine side of things. Which warning light is one ? Engine light I assume ? V6 3.0L or 4 cylinder 2.4L. Hybrid ?
  2. Welcome to the Forum. Looks gorgeous. Happy Motoring.
  3. Hi Jenny, Seems like Churchill have got themselves confused. Just be aware I was with Aviva until I informed them of my rear conversion. Kaput ! Have you converted ? If so, beware.
  4. You're right, this is covered elsewhere. Try to Search Head Unit Replacement. My understanding is that extra care is needed with the Theatre System, otherwise certain features could be lost. I'll sure you'll get lots of replies, but, in the meantime try the search.
  5. What code(s) are you getting.
  6. I have a 3L, tax is £280. I have been reading the V149 form on DVLA, but need to check my understanding of it. I believe the 3.5L is in the next highest tax band !
  7. What engine type do you have ? Do you believe 240g to be correct ? DVLA will have tax rate / emissions info; but probably not for an Alphard / Vellfire. I'll check. But it should have a table for 240g. Bare in mind that your vehicle tax will be based on the year of manufacture, not the year imported / first registered in the UK.
  8. I believe Bank 2 is the one closest to the radiator. Cylinder 2 is on the left hand side.
  9. Small point, Aviva insured my Alphie until it was converted; then they asked me find another insurer. That's why I moved to Scenic. Prior to that I was happy with Aviva.
  10. Hi Steve, Welcome to the Forum.
  11. Hi Shane, Check out the recent posts, that should give you an idea.
  12. Try Scenic, it's a subsidiary of LV, specialising in conversions.
  13. Briefly looking at the EPC drawings, the struts seem to be the same for the manual tailgate and for the power assisted one. Check before you order !
  14. That's the MET IGN fuse. Don't ask !
  15. Hi Stephen, Glad you got it fixed. For the benefit of others, which fuse was it ?
  16. I assume you have a V6 as there is no timing belt on the 4 cylinder engine.
  17. Please read WJVH post above
  18. Hello Stephen, Welcome to the Forum.
  19. Welcome to the Forum. My thoughts are that part availability on the continent, where European made vehicles are so popular (patriotically purchased) could be tricky. Regarding insurance. There is no shortage of companies that cover Europe; whether they will cover an Alphard is another matter. I used to travel Europe frequently, but not in an MPV / camper. I used Saga who, in my opinion, offered good value insurance; especially if the duration of your stays were lengthy.

  21. This is the link that Chris.ac shared with me. It is similar to the one he has used. I haven't got one yet as I put my issue of slow warm up down to the old weather.
  22. Sorry to hear how your first drive didn't turn out well. Please do not tell us where you bought it; although all your local Alphard / Vellfire owners would love to know and avoid. (PMs can keep this kind of info private). Perhaps the code was switched off, deleted, before you bought it. Perhaps the problem was fixed ! I have just received advice from Chris.ac on a suitable OBD2 unit. I'll try and find his post, and let you know. You are loacted quite close to Ldrego (on here) and Cuttothechase (on youtube). He has also done some work with OBD units.
  23. G'day, Welcome to the Forum. You pose a very interesting question, for which I have no answer. I'll be very interested in the replies you receive. I can say that here in Blighty many Toyota dealers won't work on grey imports. To date, Alphards and Vellfires have not been officially imported into the UK; hence the dealership attitude. However some, such as mine, will. I will ask them if they have access to these firmware updates you refer to. My guess is they won't. There is Toyota software available, Techstream, that Toyota dealers use. Whether that contains these firmware updates, or not, needs further investigation. Techstream is available, on line, and can be downloaded.
