  3. Hopefully it's all you need and most of what you desire ! Bureaucracy here is making personal importation more tricky. Alphards / Vellfires are on a huge popularity surge here at the moment. On personal imports getting a conversion, if desired, is a long winded affair. Many dealers import their own and prioritise their conversion capacity. Understandably. The independent convertors are VERY busy. ENJOY.
  4. Probably not, need a leisure battery that is. There are several types of cool boxes. Some don't even need to be plugged in, they work from ice packs. There are thermoelectric ones, with no moving parts except for the fan. I have one, in my opinion they are not very good. They are cheaper than compressor versions. Some of them heat as well as chill. Some struggle with achieving low temperatures Then there are the compressor versions, which I am currently researching for a purchase. These are more expensive and heavier. Leisure batteries are not cheap, and there is the cost of wiring them in to your van. The potential downside of not having a leisure battery is all the energy is being taken from the main battery. If you use too much energy you can drain the battery enough to prevent the van starting. You can buy portable jump starters to overcome that issue if it arises. Perhaps you could look at a gas powered fridge; some can use multiple sources of energy to run in. The downside with these is they need to be fitted and they are relatively expensive, some extremely so. They are normally fitted into you conversion; but you already have the gas installed. Whatever option you follow, the chest (freezer) type configuration usually are very good at retaining the chill factor. Most, if not all, 'portable' coolers are of the chest type.

  7. Hello Debbie, Thanks for your reply. Hybrid vehicles, if you have one, should show a ready light soon after starting. I don't have a Hybrid so am very little knowledge of them. The Hybrid motor uses a 240v battery to power the rear wheels. There is also a 12v auxiliary battery. I am guessing the trouble you are having is with the 12v auxiliary battery. Presumably, the fault, whatever it is, can be rectified under the warranty. If you bought from a Dealer, VAT will have been paid. You are unlikely to recover that portion of the purchase price; but you never know. Can you tell me the model number you have ? It will look similar to ANH10W, ANH15W.

  9. The ABS system can create some sounds as a self test is performed, but that should only occur on start up

  11. I believe there is on my 2006 Behind the passenger glove box (which is easy to remove on my 2006). I checked mine, super clean.

  13. Hello Sarah, I am sorry to hear of your plight; I am sure we all are. As Liam correctly says, 20% went to VAT. Unlikely you will ever see that again ! However, there is a For Sale section here, in the Forum, and these vehicles are very popular at the moment. You can also upload, drag and drop, some photos in that section so potential buyers can see what your vehicle is like. What options you have, etc. Mention of the converting company can help informed buyers. There are the other channels, Autotrader, Ebay, Facebook. I assume you mean £24000. Something is not right here. Are there any typos in your posting. In my opinion, a 2004 conversion should not have cost anywhere near £24000. Let us know what vehicle you have, what options are fitted, engine size. Why do you wish to sell so soon ? Did you buy it without ever seeing it ? Distance selling regulations may apply.

There is a thread on this Forum, I'll try and find it, but, I think, it tends to cover the older cars. ToyotaAlphardEPC.com is good if you can read mechanical drawings. Good Luck.
  15. Only after start up, or sometimes quiet and then rattles later in your drive ? Do you have VRC and TRC ?
  16. Be careful if you 'buy back' the vehicle as Mike suggests you could. If you do .... The insurance company can, and probably will, categorise it as a category N or Category S. Neither category prevents you from returning the vehicle (legally) to the road. BUT, as the category stays with the vehicle for its life until formally scrapped / destroyed, the resale value will probably plummet. Just another factor in your decision making process ! Best of luck, whatever you decide.

  19. Sorry, my mistake, I thought that was the facelifted Gen 1. As you say, it isn't. I need to read what is says, not what I want it to say. There must be a wrecked vehicle, somewhere in London, surely.

  22. Hi David, Now I AM confused ! The vehicle doesn't have a VIN number ! How can that be ! Have you checked all the labels on the vehicle ? My VIN is on the front of the B pillar nearside. Don't expect the VIN number to resemble a European one. It will be, for example, ANHW10, then a serial number. Mine is TA MNH10W 0099xxx. (where x is a digit). Do you have a receipt, or the auction sheet ? It will be on the auction sheet, and/or the export sheet. If you have the auction sheet, send me a copy by PM, or I'll send you a copy mine by PM. Back to square one. Those white brackets are only 10 to 15 pounds each, not sure without checking, how many are needed. Have you looked at the EPC drawings. If the reinforcement bar is damaged, that could be expensive. With respect for the Loss Adjuster they won't have a clue. Probably never dealt with an Alphard before. There is lots of 'stuff' attached to the front valance, so a second hand replacement could have an inflated price. Have you checked any of the Alphard scrap yards yet ? If the tabs on the front valance (which I cannot see) are broken that could be the issue. £1500 could buy a lot of time from a fibreglass fabricator. I'll check out some potential sources for a new front. Did the assessor mention anything about the bumper beam, or any structural parts ? Hang in there. Someone bumped my Fiesta, Insurance wanted to write it off. Slightly dented door, NO other issues. I still drive it daily !
  23. With a quick look at the EPC, your £1500 looks quite high. Compared to the 1500 most of the parts look reasonably priced. The one part I don't have a price for, yet, is the reinforced bumper beam. Are there some tabs on the bumper that have been snapped off ?I still can't see the damage. Just another wild idea, as I am sure you are aware, there are more than one front valance for these vehicles. Is your machine a Gen 1, or a Gen 1 updated ? My guess is it will be easier to get a front valance the earlier the car is.
  24. Hi David, Please forgive my ignorance. I don't see any damage to the bumper. I do see that the bumper has come away from the white plastic moulding. Is there any damage to the white moulding ? I'll take a look at the ToyotaAlphardEPC.com drawings. Perhaps you could. It may help you understand what is broken, and what is not.
  25. Cathy, They are all imports. To date, Toyota have never sold Alphards and Vellfires in the UK. That is why Toyota in Truro won't work on yours.
