Toyota Direct is an option if you know the part numbers. The Toyota Alphard EPC may help you with that.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
More expensive than an expander but way, way, simpler. No dash to remove, which, to me, is a very risky business !
I have checked this out on Amazon and ebay, looks great.
My only question is "Does it need a phone to work ?"
I think not, but hope you can confirm that.
Does it need a separate aerial ?
I have been looking at an Xtrons unit to fit under the passenger seat and input it through the VTR inputs.

It didn't work for me either !
Search on Can the captain seats fold flat.
Chris has contributed to that thread. Click on his 'box' and in the header you should have the option to Message him.

If option 3 is set, try to switch off the ignition and open the drivers door within 10 seconds, that should unlock all doors.
As a personal safety measure, I would not want my doors to unlock every time I stop, only when someone needs to get in or out.
I assume this is the function you want. I would then press the unlock button.
Changing this setting is as per the Rav video, but pressing the lock/unlock drivers door button to UNLOCK for 5 seconds.
This should set the system to default, which, confusingly, yours seems to be set to !
As I say, I don't have access to my machine otherwise I would go and play.
If you need option 1, as Nov advises, ignition on, shifter in park, press and hold unlock side of switch for 5 seconds.

I don't know (yet); but it helps us all to have some detail.
There are some quirks with the keyless.....
These vehicles are complicated by the many, many options they offer.
Anyhow, now I know I'll read my JPNZ Owners Manual (it's not a Maintenance Manual) and see what else it may be; other than a fault.
There can be several lock set up modes.
I recommend the JPNZ manuals to all owners, make sure you get the correct one for your vehicle. (FRO396, unless you have a hybrid).
So, the drivers door switch unlocks the doors, how about the remotes ? Do they work properly, locking and unlocking.
Do you have electric slide doors ? Ok or not ? Do you have an electric tailgate ? OK ?
Does the ignition key operate the doors when inserted into the doors ?
What model and trim level do you have ?
Model ANH10 (for example) ? Look in the jamb door areas.
Trim is more difficult, but should be on the auction sheet, if you have a copy. Top right hand side ?

Have you got the child lock set ?
You should be able to unlock the passenger door by using the small lever above the normal door lever.
Hopefully that will sort you out.
Do you have the Smart locking system; keyless entry ?

Take a look; because it suggests, very strongly, that you would be able to source some seats that would lie flat.
If you do find some, do check the seat rail / track spacing. You never know, they may even swivel; but I doubt it.
Some convertors will sell you seats.

If you are 'dead set' on having a Captains seats that fold flat you may consider those fitted to the previous Evo 1 Alphard.
Although they have very nice armrests, which fold flat, they also fold flat in a rearward direction.
They do not fold flat in a forward direction.
If this may be of interest to you, I stress that you would must ensure that the seat rail spacing is the identical before purchasing any.
The previous Captains seats do not swivel, nor is there a simple way of achieving that; but I doubt that yours swivel either.

Hi Geoff,
Type number should be somewhere on the surrounding bezel.
I suggest you explicitly ask your dealer about retaining full control before you have it replaced.
After their confirmation you would have a legitimate comeback if needed.

I have a 2006 5 speed auto.
If I were to fault the car; it would be the gear selection !
Compared to all other autos I have ever driven ( a lot, as I lived in the US twice) it is quite agricultural.
I am speaking of the gear shift, not the auto gear changes themselves.
Many people who have not driven autos can struggle when challenged by an auto.
They are easy. Just keep your left foot on the floor; not the pedals !
Like riding a bicycle, or swimming, once you accomplish it you will wonder why you never had an auto.
There is a notification of which gear you have selected on the dash.
If in auto, let the box do the work.
Also you can read the JPNZ Owners Manual as it has a section on 'hill driving'.

I'm sure that lots of our Members will be offering advice on this topic.
As you suggest, there is a lot of info, and opinion, on this topic.
Please do the reading, it may be confusing, but will probably be enlightening.
2008 is a crossover year for Alphards. (So is 2005!).
It would help our members to help you if we knew what model your 2008 might be.
2008 is a late Evo 1 (facelifted) or an early Evo 2.
2005 is an early Evo1 or a facelifted Evo 1
The body side panels, among other things, differentiate between the two.
If you are sure both engines are 3.0l V6 then you will have a Evo 1 (as the Evo 2 is 3.5l V6).
If you don't know, upload a side view photo.
It may also help to know the head unit type number (or a photo).
Whatever, if you upgrade your head unit, be careful.
Some upgrades will cause you to lose camera functions and/or steering wheel control (of the head unit).

This isn't even as good as the DVLA MOT history, albeit that doesn't cover servicing; and nowhere near would we Brits would regard as full service history record.
It would seem to me, that, unless this report is almost zero cost; it isn't really worthwhile.

Hi Colin, welcome to this Forum.

I'll measure my plates tomorrow, and let you know.
Remember you cannot assign a vanity plate (year) that is newer than the year of the vehicle.
I am assuming here, that DVLA will regard the year of manufacture as the key date; not the year the vehicle was imported.
So 2005 in your case; but worth a quick check with DVLA if you haven't bought the vanity plate yet.
