Hello Susie,
Welcome to the Forum.
Very recently, Picasso posted in this Forum that a maintenance manual should be available early next year.
Hopefully that would allow you to provide a mechanics with useful information.
There is a Toyota dealer in Helston and Truro (actually Newquay), I believe.
I use my local Snows in Torbay.
Snows have a delearship in Plymouth. try them as I think you will find they are amenable to working on your Alphard.
Good Luck.

The workshop manuals are in the process of being done but won't be available till next year company I work for will advertise them as soon as we get them and I will mention it on here.
Fantastic news. Thank you

Hi Roger
Its actually in the first post of this thread.
I don't remember paying anything though.
Hi, the fee I am referring to is for the full service history.
I wasn't suggesting there is a fee for the recall information, or corrective action.
Sorry for the error.
I got myself a bit confused. I'll try and find the site and provide a link for the service history info.
As you say the recall link it at the top of this thread, and it works nicely.

It gone into the mechanics and they can't find what's wrong I will definitely buy a manual thankyou
For clarity, for you and others; the manuals above are English translations of the Owners Manual.
They are not Maintenance Manuals (which I have never seen).

Hello, and Welcome to the Forum.
I'm the other side of the Bay to you !
I think you will find that roof racks for early Alphards are rare and/or expensive !
Good Luck.

Do Toyota pay for they new airbags??
Hi Charlie,
I am not sure what corrective action is taken.
Whatever action is needed will be funded by Toyota (Japan).
You NEED PRIOR authorisation first; otherwise, I guess, you pay the whole bill.

Relief.
I checked my vehicle and it appears all necessary (Implemented, rather than Done) work was completed in Japan.

I have taken a different approach on this.
I have a 2006, without the theatre system.
So, at the back of the front row seat console, I have two 100v outlets and a VTR input (which I hope to use for radio and TV signals to the HDD unit).
Alongside these, my convertor (at my request) has fitted a 240v socket; a USB socket and a 12v (cigarette lighter) socket above the 240v outlet.
Hopefully, whatever voltage source I need 'up front' I'll have.
I think I have identified a siutable cool box with 12v, 100V and 240V input (albeit not all hooked up at the same time).
I have planned sufficient room for a fridge, but don't plan on fitting one yet (if ever) as I lose most of my very limited storage space in my rear conversion.

There is a post on this Forum, somewhere, that provides a website to check if your Alphie needs a recall.
I'll try and find it.
Basically, through the website you can request full service history from Toyota Japan.
There is a small fee.
I was told by my local Toyota dealer that they can make the recall enquiry on my behalf.
If the vehicle is subject to a recall that has not been performed; Toyota UK make a request to Toyota Japan and, despite your vehicle being a grey import, Toyota Japan will authorise the work AND pay for it ! The process can take quite some time !
I expect all this to happen during my first official Toyota UK service.
Have a safe journey.

I work for a local motor factor's who specialises in jap imports we having lots of regular trade customers requesting replacement cats that have been stolen we already do replacement cats for petrol bongos and elgrand e51 . I have been informed as long as I leave the front cat in place it will pass the mot fine this the case with the elgrand e51 which has 4 cats we sell the decat kits for the e51 elgrand . Once mine is done we will get the through pipes made for the 3.0 alphard
Good to know. Thanks Picasso. Please advise the Forum when Alphie V6 through rear pipes are available, and at what cost

Thanks for providing the link for this manual.
I am sure it will be useful to someone with the same HDD head unit as yourself.

Hello Jackie,
I don't have the same model year as you.
At least one rear fog light is a requirement in the UK.
If you need more information try the DVLA website under MOT.
As Japanese vehicles, (in Japan) are not required to have rear fog lights, if I had to guess, i would say these are brake lights and running lights combined.
Is the vehicle in the UK ?
If not, do you have an agent importing it for you ?
Otherwise your UK dealer should fit rear fog lights (if these aren't) for you. You will need at least one for the MOT.

Hello Becky,
Welcome to this Forum.
Hopefully someone will be able to help you soon.
Have you checked any fuses ?
Do you know where the fuses are ?
What model Alphie do you have ? ANH, MNH ? and the trim level MZ, MS, AX, AS, etc.
Engine size ? Hybrid ?
Knowing these details may help our members to help you.
I would recommend you buy an English language manual from eBay asap. FRO396 or FRO3035 for a hybrid.
They are worth every penny.
-
For a reason I am unaware of, the Hybrid versions seem to be the main target.

Will you have to reinstall the rear cat for the next MOT ?

Hi Rojie, I think the ones you have seen are the same as the ones for Land Rovers and are 1p less than £14. A question ,is there any way of adding pictures onto a post? It may help others when they are considering "additions".
Yes there is a way of adding photos.
Prepare your photo on your desktop.
"Click on the quote line and a drag files here to attach, or chose files" will appear.
Drag and drop from your desktop or search your desktop.
Should be easy ! Give it a try.
And of course press Submit Reply. If you exit before pressing the SR the Forum will not post your contribution, but it will remember it for later use.
Good Luck.

Good morning Starider,
I am hoping that most of us have legal reflectors, but, if not, I think your idea of mounting them on mudflaps is fantastic.
I had be worrying where I would fit additional reflectors, if needed.
I had been considering mudflaps anyway as my white paintwork gets very messy behind the front wheel arches on the front doors.
I will also have my mains hookup under the car behind the rear wheel arch (out of sight); another reason for a mudflap.
I have seen some mudflap sets on ebay that purport to be for Alphies, only £14 (or so) !
Thanks again for sharing such a great idea, Good luck with the fitting process.

Thank you. Was quoted £470 by Toyota UK. :'D
Love this forumI thought I would see how much this cost through the Amayama(?) route.
Well done Hydro. I couldn't even find the part in the EPC !
I'm glad it worked out well for you. All that effort and risk, you deserve a happy ending.

Hi all
Good point raised by starider. Thank you.
Rojie, would appreciate an update on your night-time test to see if your rear fog lamps are reflectors also?
Regards
Hi Phil,
You won't believe this !
I just went outside to check the reflectors on my Alphie.
My Alphie is not there !
When you get to my age these things happen !
It is currently locked away in the Convertors premises !
As soon as I can answer your question; I will.

Thought I had replied to this topic, but it seems to have disappeared,so I repeat: Having looked at these fog lights which replace the reflectors, I am a little concerned that it removes a legal requirement i.e. that all vehicles must have at least 2 rear red reflectors incase of rear light failure/or parked without parking lights. Last night I illuminated the rear of the Alphard and appart from the reflectors none of the other lamps when switched off. had any reflective properties.
This means that if these replacements are fitted, reflectors will need to be added.
Hello Starider,
You raise a very interesting point. Thank you.
I have a 2006 Alphie which has two rear fog lights fitted. It does have an MOT.
Tonight I will check whether my fog lights are reflective, or not, when illuminated by a torch or headlight.
I expect they will be, but if not I will be having some harsh words with the importer of my vehicle.
As you say, the DVLA instructions to MOT testers is very clear on this issue.

If both your slide doors are electric; they are independently fused.
I think the fuses are in different fuse boxes too !
Are both your slide doors electric; that is you have two separate switches near the steering wheel ?

Is it possible to fit cruise control to my 2003 alphard 3l, is it easy? and any idea of the cost?
Thanks in advance for any info
I may be wrong here, but I believe it can't.
Ldrego, who is cuttothechase on youtube, put up a video (he has several) I I believe I recall the early evolution one cannot be modified. The later evolution one can, I believe.
Ask Ldrego on here or try and contact though his youtube channel. (He prefers youtube)

As an afterthought, it may be worth asking if any garage you hope to use has Techstream, the Toyota diagnostic software.
