I need a new battery. My Alphard is imported from Japan. Year made 2011. 
I am looking to replace my battery. 
Can anyone suggest which model should I get from halford?

Hi Tony!

I'd personally suggest Tayna batteries in Bodelwyddan, North Wales.

They'll save you a fortune, and will send it to you next day.

My car has an 027 battery fitted. I'm not saying that's right, or for yours though, it was put on by the previous owner.

I second BigNev, however i always over spec the AH by at least 20 so i know it starts even when cold.

And I agree with you!

If I'm buying a battery, I try to look for the higher amp rating and "cold cranking amps" in the size. There can be quite a difference in performance for different manufacturers hey!

And these cars do have a LOT of electrical kit!

Just looked at Tayna, and for my reg they suggest an 068 battery.

Perhaps when I'm home later I'll do some research on physical size difference to the one that's on mine. The guy I bought our car from clearly had one die shortly after he got it from the importer, and bought one local to him, as the receipt for it is in the folder!

So, from my tape measure, a size 068 won't fit in the battery tray on mine.

And there isn't that much difference in amp grunt to the 027 option.

 

But the one I have in it, a "Starting Bull" is at the bottom end on the range, 510 cca, whereas Varta, Bosch and Exide have 610, 610, and 640 models!!

And that's without going to AGM type! They go to 680!!

Funny I was just looking for a battery myself. I've had a couple of close calls the last few weeks where it's taken a couple tries to crank. It's still got the Panasonic battery in it from Japan with the LifeWINK attached which indicates the battery health which was flashing red at me yesterday so I think it's time. The battery was fitted in 2021 thanks to previous installer writing the date on it. 

 

Gonna have to measure mine too as I'm getting conflicting info online. For example I'm reading that the Bosch S4 026 fits but when I've used part checkers on some sites it comes back as not compatible but on Tayna it comes up as a suitable option. 

 

Apparently Toyota recommend at least 550 CCA for the 3.5l so I'm just going to go with the highest CCA rating I can get my hands on with the cold season on its way. 

 

My shortlist is currently the VARTA Blue Dynamic E23, Bosch S4 026 or the Yuasa Silver YBX5068. 

After a bit of research I eventually purchased for my ggh25 the Bosch S4 E41, EFB 72ah, 760cca, fits the battery tray nice, worth considering, bought from Tanya Batteries.

I just had a look at that one, and at 261mm wide (rather than 242 for my 027 ), it could just squidge into mine.

Most were 266 to 270mm.

I'm reckoning if it did in yours it jolly well should do, same car model!!

 

But - how did you go on with the retaining bracket across the top as it's 30mm higher than the 027 battery?

Did it need any bending to clamp properly? Not a big deal really!

The back is simple as it's the usual rod / nut with plenty of "slack" on the thread, but the front fixing is a bolt directly into the metal frame. Was it easy enough to use a longer bolt and spacer?

I have been considering replacing that low amp rated battery on ours, and having bought a simple battery tester, it was just a little slower cranking over on a couple of very cold mornings.

On testing it, it measured in at 420 cca out of 510. However, after a small charge, it was still starting the engine fine though!

I tried a new 027 battery in the tray, and when I went to clamp it down, it was obvious that the clamp was made for a taller battery!

I then tried an 068 size - as per the Bosch S4 E41 that @Philllx fitted to his - and as was already said, fitted nicely with no modifications!

That's clearly the battery that the tray and clamp were designed for!

I got mine locally in Stockport, from Advanced Battery Supplies. I opted for one of their own brand models, an EFB type, 068, with 75ah and 760cca, and 5 year warranty.

Certainly seems to crank over a little faster, and fire up a tiny bit quicker, or maybe it's just psychological hey!!

No problem recognising both fobs, the head unit kept the radio stations and the other settings, all the windows still worked on Auto, but I did have to open and close manually the boot to make it work with the motor again.
