  1. Hi, is it the correct battery for the vehicle? It needs to be a start stop type battery. Hybrids appear to be awkward if you don't have the right 12v battery or don't keep it up to the mark. When I had a battery issue my dealer obtained the manufacturer's recommended one from Tayna.co.uk.
  2. I believe you should have a bluetooth connection so you can connect your phone or pad- I have never used it but my dealer gave me a device that plugged into the 12v socket and played music from his phone- I think there is a video on the forum showing how to connect to bluetooth. Cheers
  3. Hi, the 12v battery on my 2005 hybrid is in the centre console between the two front seats- the access cover is at the back of the console. See picture attached. Can't answer the other queries although I think you have to keep the existing hifi due to having info on the hybrid system and the camera connections if you have front, side and rear cameras.
  4. Unless the donor battery is tip top then you are still likely to have trouble. Have you tried a booster pack (the positive connection is under the bonnet under what looks like a fuse box then connect the negative /earth to the nearest part of the chassis which is a nut to the left of the positive connection). I would try this before spending money on a repair garage if you can. You could take the old battery to a garage to get it checked out before taking in the vehicle. I had to replace my 12v battery with a Panasonic S55D23R (advertised as for a Toyota RAV 4 Hybrid) from a company called e-hybrid.com- if you make an enquiry give them your vin no. to get the correct battery-it needs to be a start/stop battery.
  5. Hi, I am not a Techie but I have a 2005 hybrid and the only couple of times I had starting issues was first when the 12v battery had failed and needed replacing with the correct start/stop type of battery (there is a post about this on the forum in my name) - the vehicle would jump start but then cut out when put into drive- replacing the battery cured the issue. The second was when I hadn't used the car for a couple of weeks or so and the 12v battery was down (it did start with a power pack ok). Have you used the vehicle regularly or has it been left unused for a period of time , do you have the correct 12v battery and how old is it? Is it a different issue to the one I have described?
  6. Hi, There are some posts on the Forum about Hybrid 12v battery- it is important to have the correct battery that incorporates start stop technology as a standard battery will ultimately fail as it did to me. Check out the other posts. cheers
  7. I used a Noco GB50 to jump start my 2005 Hybrid E4- worked well- bought from Halfords.
  8. Hi - see link attached - some photos which might be useful on this website https://Fixmycar.pk/toyota-alphard-hybrid-e-four-2/ scroll for the pics
  9. Hi, mine shows 3 bars but I have had 4 very occasionally going down long steep hills- I imagine the vehicle used some battery power so it might not get 4 bars much.
  10. I have found a part translation of the auction report- see pics attached - hope this helps
  11. Hi, Before buyinhg my Alphard I paid for the Car VX report and found the same "Problem Found" against recalls- I emailed Car VX querying this and they replied that " According to Toyota, all the recall works were done, so you have nothing to worry about." so you can query this with them. Also there is a page on the forum which allows you to check recalls- follow the instructions and substitute your frame type and no (chassis no.)
  12. Hi, I have atatched a couple of photos from the internet showing where the battery is located for a hybrid- you have to remove the rear curved shape cover which is accessed from behind the front seats- that is from the side door- it is very awkward and you have to push the centre seats well back. The cover clips off so use a special trim removing tool if you have one but it may come off by pulling on the "side bumps" on the cover- it's also a devil to get back on. You have to remove the vertical bar first and wiggle the battery out a bit to get to the terminal nuts- the battery is a very snug fit so make sure you have the right battery and must be a stop start type- an ordinary battery will likely fail after a while which is what happened to me- I did put a post on a while ago which gave the battery I had to get (for a 2005 E4). Don't forget to reset the door window switches - see Youtube - good luck
  13. Hi, I have one on the 12v battery cover of my hybrid- no idea what it does if anything but appears to be wired into the loom. Mine doesn't light up.
  14. When I had my 12v battery problem the dash showed the headlight symbol on all the time and the HU was dimmed although the headlight was off. Changing the battery fixed the issue.

Hi, if you manage to re use the 12v supply can you let us know how you did it- I thought of using it to power my dashcam.
  16. Hi, this is my first post- I have an Alphard Hybrid E4 2005 purchased from Dave at Vineplace Motors in October last- can thoroughly recommend Dave if anyone is looking for a vehicle. Vehicle was fine until just at New Year and the 12v battery kept going dead and eventually wouldn't start from the booster pack (Noco GB50- would recommend this) and until that point was doing odd things. Dave had fitted a new battery at purchase but was a standard Alphard battery in error- he kindly sourced a new battery FOC as the system has to have a special stop-start type- the replacement was Panasonic S55D23R (advertised as for a Toyota RAV 4 Hybrid) at £199.99 but the supplier said this was the manufacturers genuine part having been supplied the vin no.- sourced from e-hybrid.com who apparently specialise in hybrid spares. Fitted the new battery and everything has been fine since then so the 12v battery appears to be critical- there may well be other suitable batteries out there but this is my experience. Vehicle drives beautifully and I am getting about 35mpg driving carefully and using the hybrid system so I use it more often than I expected. Hope this helps. Paul
