  1. Hello Jenny, I am so sorry to hear you are not well enough to visit Bean in Birmingham. I'm in Devon, so even further away than Charlie. I still think we are close with the password. Try to find the time, and inclination, to try those few combinations I have suggested. Runa is a very typical name for a pet dog in Japan, so you are already quite close. Hopefully your fitness improves very soon.
  2. Yes it is a another good link. Thank you. Based on the statistics, it isn't even worth trying. What is the DVLA doing ? Have they got nothing better to do.
  3. Afraid I can't help with the side awning, as I'll be going rear awning in the summer. I am sure others here will help.
  4. A remote heater, sounds very interesting.
  5. Welcome to the Forum. Thanks for giving us all this tip. What year is your Vellfire ?
  6. Hi Sparkie, I checked the link. Very useful. I discovered a checklist for conversions. Pop tops seem to be OK, Hi tops are different however. Wording reading. I am not sure why owners would want to reclassify their vehicle unless it is mandatory for certain modifications. Maybe the regulations effect Van Conversions more than our Alphies.
  7. Awakusu ?? I 'll give you some time to try them !
  8. Maru is my favourite (Round), or Amaya, Night Rain
  9. Runa is a popular dog name in Japan !!! Progress ? https://www.dailypaws.com/dogs-puppies/dog-names/japanese-dog-names. I'm still working on the Awaku part. I suggest you try it both with and without a space. Good Luck. Otherwise we need to work more on the Awaku .
  10. How frustrating this all is. It seems you have tried to follow the procedure that I have seen in the online videos, without success. I wrote to Bangladesh again to try and answer your question of how sure he is he can fix it. Still waiting his reply. Even if you get this unit unlocked you won't be receiving UK radio without fitting a frequency expender which requires the head unit out of the dash ! Extenders are £20 or so. I haven't given up yet.
  11. Bean claims to be able to retain all head unit functions while adding all sorts of other goodies. I believe I have read reports that he is able to do these things. Sounds like a day out in your new Alphie to me.
  12. I have given this a lot of thought. All the videos I have seen show the buttons on the unit (not the screen) as functional. As I understand it, yours are not. It seems that locked units do offer some responses, whereas yours doesn't ! Does the unit allow you to tyre a password, albeit incorrect. If so, that would suggest the unit is not faulty (another concern of mine) just performing its anti theft function. What did the dealer say when you bought the vehicle ? Did he explain the HDD was not functional ? Is the dealer able to replace it with a functioning unit ? I assume you have explored that line of enquiry. I sent him a photo of your unit. I'll get in touch with him again.
  13. Hi Doug, Welcome to the Forum.
  14. Could it be anything else? Where I live we have had a dramatic change in the weather !
  15. Not good news. Have you watched the Cuttothechase video. It may reassure you somewhat ? Did you fill the tank? If not, I suppose you can 'dilute' the E10 by filling up with E5. I expect in the next few weeks we will get lots of feedback from users of E10.
  16. Hi Mark, Since earlier this year, I believe, fitting a pop top will cause the vehicle to need to be reclassified as a motor home. What difference this makes, I don't know, but just wanted to make you aware so you can make further enquiries if you choose. Hopefully, I'm not wrong on this, but if so, I'm sure I'll be corrected quite quickly.
  17. Hello Jenny, Possibly some good news. I have been searching virtually all afternoon for an English manual for your NHZN-W57, without success. However, I have also contacted someone in Bangadesh requesting if he can still overcome locked units. He has now responded confirming he can. He has requested $20 usd and some photos of the unit. I realise this could be a scam, but I don't think so. I have approached him, not vice versa. If it were me, depending on how the payment is made, I would risk it. I can't see any risk in sending him a photo, or two. I wrote to him as a Moderator of this Forum and he is offering the service for $10 usd if I include a link to him. I cannot see why I shouldn't, furthermore, if you were not successful I might publish that also on the Forum. Is it OK for me to contact him on your behalf, or would you prefer to do that, or would you prefer to take no action at all. If you wish to proceed, I'll contact you privately.
  18. I am not quite sure what you are asking. It is cooler here than in Honkers, but does not get cold enough that heated seats are essential. You can purchase aftermarket seat warmers, although I never have.
  19. Cuttothechase on youtube
  20. DON'T disconnect your battery. I am just reading this may be what created the problem.
  21. Hi Jenny, I have been looking at youtube and there are several videos that purport to unlock your particular HDD head unit. Some involve a small payment. Unfortunately, none of them (so far) has a procedure that starts with the screen you have. Actually one does, but as soon as the buttons are touched it busts into life and he shows how to unlock it. Please confirm, whatever you do, the screen is stuck in the keyboard ? Have you tried disconnecting your battery. Please note if you do you will probably need to reset windows (a the sun roof if you have one). As it seems totally unresponsive I wonder if it is faulty, rather than not knowing how to unlock it. I'll keep looking for a solution.
  22. Sorry I misled you. I did not realise there was another HDD unit; other than the one I have. Somewhere, I found a video of a gut unlocking a head unit. Now I know which unit you have, I'll have another look.
  23. Sorry, they do suitable Rims for a specific tyre too !
  24. If you go to oponeo.co.uk You can use their Tyres suitable for a xxJ rim. Lots of choice. Be aware of the clearance changes, as noted before. Those that colin2 should be OK for winter use ! Only £200 !
  25. Charlie, Please remind me which 2008 model you have ? What is the model number ? MH ? I think you have 6.5J wheels; I am just trying to check. The wheels will be stamped (on the inside !).
