  1. The offset above is correct. The wheels / tyres are one of the standard sizes. It is very important to have the minimum speed rating. There is an opinion that says campers are heavier than the standard. Some, including myself, hold the opinion that the camper is probably slightly lighter against a fully loaded eight adult seater. However, some of us do fit XL tyres for added 'safety'. XL are extra load, not extra large ! Get your tyre fitter to confirm correct fit; but he will. Do not forget to tell your insurance company if fitting non-OEM type wheel/tyre combinations. Otherwise you may find your insurance invalidate.
  2. Try and stay with the OEM sizes for wheels and tyres; or very close. The OFFSET is very important; it is normally marked on the inside of the wheel rim. Check the OEM value. Fitting larger wheels with a smaller sidewall tyre height (55/60/65) will harden the ride somewhat. You may wish to check before doing anything with your insurer. Nice new wheels can increase premiums, and do not forget to fit a locking nut on each wheel.
  3. Hello Lewis, Welcome to the Forum. We are all so sorry to hear of your situation. Did you buy privately, or from a business ? If a business, contact them immediately. What else can you do ? So it was cranking before the ran battery down ? Was it a normal fast crank, or somewhat sluggish ? It's unlikely to help, but have you tried to use jump leads ? On many Alphies, even a low battery will prevent the van cranking. I'll see what I can do to help; but probably nothing. If you can, please send me your phone, registration and exact location by Private Message.
  4. You could try Dyernostics in Bodmin. Further away from home, but not that much. He must be worth a phone call.
  5. Have you checked the recommended mechanics section in this Forum ?
  6. Send a Private Message to Picasso
  7. I believe Mark is now based in Exeter. In my humble opinion, the best way to check mileage, in kilometres, is the Auction Sheet. If the vehicle has been clocked before then it, obviously, will not be highlighted. If CarVX, BITMA, or other reports, investigate service history then that will be even better. My experience with CarVX, as I remember, did not report on (official) Service History; but I may be wrong in that recollection.
  8. I found an article on Facebook, via a Google search, that gives lots of details; written by Darby Ward It would seem to be a system from the Philippines. It talks of the execute file. Looks like an uphill struggle to me. Don't you have a nav system on your mobile phone ?
  9. Do your clearance Sonars still work ? I believe they may have a common fuse with the instrument lighting. Do all the warning lights come on before starting ?
  10. If you photograph the rear light clusters, we should be able to tell you which variant you have. The early vans have smaller light clusters. My guess is yours is facelifted; and, if so, should be compliant. Check your registration on TfL, Transport for London.
  11. Hello Betty, Welcome to the Forum.
  12. I was with Aviva, but they stopped providing insurance for Campers. They were very good.
  13. As Michael says, DLVA will help. The Gen 1, non-facelift, is generally not compliant. Whereas the Gen 1 facelift is. Check on DVLA when the van was made; not when it was imported. The general consensus of opinion is the change occurred about July / September 2005.
  14. Looks to me to be 'sitting' too low. Has the suspension been lowered ? If so, be very careful at speed bumps.
  15. Hello Piotr, Welcome to the Forum. Did you buy privately ? If from a business, I would take it back under warranty. Possibly uneven tyre wear, or a significant curbing affecting the wheel or suspension geometry. You may consider a front wheel balancing as an inexpensive start.
  16. Hello Neil, Welcome to the Forum. The van was imported in March 2024. These earlier hybrid vans tend to be high risk in terms of battery repair / replacement costs. People capable of such repairs are rare, and quite busy. As this van has been traded in, I would focus on the warranty. Check it minutely, make sure you know what is covered and what is not. You may wish to review Michael Brown's threads in the Forum with respect to his hybrid experiences. If you do proceed, it will need undersealing. Actually, that should have been done by the importer. Also, regarding the low mileage; you need sight of the Auction Certificate (required for the van to have been exported from Japan). If the vehicle is registering miles, rather than kilometres, it will have had a conversion chip fitted. Doing such provides an opportunity for the unscrupulous to adjust the distance recorded. Whatever you decide. Good Luck.
  17. Hello Dave, Welcome to the Forum.
  18. What year is your machine? Before 2008 or after ?
  19. I had my alloy wheels refurbished, not my Alphie ones, some 13 years ago by a company in Exeter. I was concerned as they were about £1k each new ! They were large and wide at the time; relatively small now. They came back better than new, if that is possible. £60 each wheel. Although mine did not need crack repair, or porosity work, they were checked for distortion too. Very quick, large car; so trueness was very important. 13 years later they still look fantastic when I occasionally clean them !
  20. What pressure does your tyre plate state ? Drivers side. It will not be in psi. I seem to recall I use about 35psi.
  21. I don't disagree with the above, but, OnIy applies to some trim levels. The other common size is 205/R16 95H, depending on the trim level. I suspect your tyre plate cites that size. Either should be fine and are in common use in our community.
  22. Hello Will, Welcome to the Forum.
