  1. Greater Manchester area shouldn't be a problem, surely ? Nevertheless, Good Luck
  2. I don't believe it is old age; but then some of our younger members might disagree ! I have driven left hand drive and right hand drive frequently. Including my rhd frequently to Spain and back. I have lived four times in left hand drive countries. Driven four on the floor and 3 speed column shift. I have only ever driven in UK, Europe and the US. I don't know how many American cities (some with their 12 lanes each way) and in all types of extreme weather. Madrid, Paris and Milan were the worst. Dallas and Chicago a close second. After all this, I still find my autonomic unconscious driving the wrong car very occasionally! Unfortunately, I know of two people, both Americans driving in the UK, who struggled with the challenge of driving on the wrong side and drove head on into oncoming traffic. I nearly did the same when first living in (a very depopulated area of) the US. My advice to anyone new to driving an automatic is keep that left foot firmly on the floor. As I have mentioned previously, in this Forum, failure to do so can create some real excitement with any drivers following. Finally, I confess, I still have not become fully cognisant of the wipers and indicator stalks being reversed (compared to European made and specified vehicles) on my Alphie. The American style foot brake gets me too sometimes. But that's my issue, not the Alphie.
  3. I drive both manuals and autos every day. The left foot thing seems to last forever !
  4. No. Just type Japanese MPV Specialists into google. Ask for Naeem. He has someone that works on Alphards for him.
  5. I agree with Voodoo. I have driven autos for 40 years, keeping it in gear is OK. Just make sure you don't take your foot off the foot brake !
  6. Japanese MPV Specialist in Uxbridge is worth a try. There is a garage next door to them.
  7. Hello Shaf1que, Welcome to the Forum. Welcome to Alphard ownership. Plentyto read about herein.
  8. Interesting. When I told Aviva that the Alphie on my multicar policy had been converted, they declined to insure it anymore.
  9. There has been a lot of debate about this subject; much of it on this Forum ! Do a little searching to find the pros and cons of each There is also a thread about members actual consumption. Quite a few report that E5, despite the cost, works out cheaper.
  10. Hello Mark, I wait to be argued with by someone who has fitted electric done diy, if that's what you mean. My guess, a nightmare and (very) expensive too.
  11. If you are referring to cab curtains, try a scrapyard, sorry, recycler as some early Alphards came with them. If you are referring to window curtains, I believe most people adding curtains (as many Alphies have them) just use the net curtain wire technique. I hope you get some replies from members who have fitted curtain rails etc. I have electric curtains which are a little temperamental but work manually really well. Even with the Limo glass they do improve privacy.
  12. They are. I think Chris means Domestic, as in Japanese market, and exported, as in all other markets.
  13. I wasn't recommending them, but they were much cheaper than the ones from the US !!! Well done to Chris.ac, the 'resident' electrical expert
  14. Hello Shaun, D2S is correct, according to my JPNZ Owners Manual. £120 from Amayama.
  15. Hi Fabrizio, Welcome to the Forum. Welcome to Alphard ownership. Happy Camparding
  16. They could be anything. Japanese owners are renown for adding gizmos. Could be toll, but toll system is normally rhs of steering wheel. My advice ? Make sure they are well insulated and leave under the footmat. Do you have, or did you have the Theatre System ? Or any other supplementary audio visual system ?
  17. They look lovely. I have some beige leather ones, but there is not really a market for them as most conversions involve sacrificing these seats. Good Luck though
  18. But it's the condition that matters. Check for undersealing too. The more boxes you have, and mine has all but one of them, the more there is to go wrong. You should also be trying to locate a suitable mechanic as most Toyota dealers will to work on grey imports. There is a ever growing Megathread on the Forum that identifies servicing locations.
  19. Did Calders supply the van, or just the conversion ? Removing/disconnecting the battery, which they will have done during conversion, could effect all windows. Try and reset them all. It will take Calders all of 5 minutes to fix, if that is the problem. Do you mean USB and cigarette sockets ? Are they connected ? Fuses blown ? Calders are unlikely to overlook connecting them. Try a long deep charge of both batteries. I use the Swedish brand CTEK. As winter approaches you should consider a new main battery. It is not unknown for dealers to swap a good battery out and put in an old one after purchase before delivery. Happened to me. Battery appears charged but fails to start engine within days. To be absolutely clear, I am not inferring Calders have done this. Obviously battery life is a function of time and load. There are guides on the internet that can work this out for you; but you need to know the load and the battery capacity (amp per hrs).
  20. The Gen 1 and Gen 2 systems are different. Lanciaman needs the one that is in the Picasso photo
  21. Try Autotrader. Find one 'local', and take it for test drive, insurance permitting. If it is a 'proper' dealer they will have trade plates. Don't buy the first you see and drive, shop around a little. Don't be surprised if they are a superb drive, they usually are. I would advise an AA or RAC Inspection Report. The one I commissioned was £300 and very thorough. Drop a PM to Ledrego, he is in your area, is a member on here and a local group. He prefers contact through youtube, Cuttothechase. He may offer advice on where to buy.
  22. There is a video, by Cuttothechase, on youtube that deals with replacing the cable (if that is what you problem is. It's worth a look.
  23. Nor me ! Is the manual in English ?!
  24. Sounds good. I have a battery charger hooked up to the leisure battery, so if I am on EHU I am also charging my leisure battery. 15m should be long enough, I have 25m. 2.5mm. I have red some campsites are not happy with 1.5mm. Other members will say they have never had any trouble with 1.5mm I have read, on this Forum, that 15m can be too short at some camp sites !
