  1. or... just buy the security horn.. https://www.amayama.com/en/part/toyota/8656028010 I always overcomplicate stuff, lol. im sure the part number is common to toyotas, so may be cheaper than the £30ish to buy/import one
  2. If we take the pin 3 o/p from the relay, this will be 12v when relay is active (alarm state) > we feed this to the coil on another relay, with the other side grounded, then the switched part of the new relay will connect earth to the pin 2 of the normal horn relay. This will cause the normal 2 tone horns to sound in an alarm state.
  3. Edit: Added post further down thread containing Wiring diagram for security horn related circuit
  4. Fuse is located in the right hand side relay box in engine bay, too.
  5. an easy way to check if you have a factory alarm, is to check for presence of the S/Horn relay (security horn). it's located next to the regular Horn relay position in the left fuse/ relay box in engine bay
  6. Yes, and when you reset it it transfers that value to the headunit, took me a while to figure out how to populate the consumption chart
  7. What head unit do you have, and what type of dash display do you have? several types of layout. On mine the button on steering wheel cycles between instantaneous fuel consumption, trip avg, and overall average. Long press on the trip average resets it, and copies the last value over to the headunit, where you can see a graph plot over trips.
  8. Not sure if same as 20 series, but, on my older Regius, you could undo the single bolt on the door plunger switch which turned on the courtesy lights (and the door open chimes) the bolt is what made the ground connection, so the door is not detected as open
  9. This version: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001505549002.html Appears to have the same coloured icons as the ones ben installs, and uses the physical scroll knob/buttons, so you dont need to fiddle with the screen dismantling. Same company, so I will ask their customer service team for a firmware update With this version, you would only need to feed the box with power, as the video will connect straight to the phono connectors and you have a physical jog dial
  10. A whole new unit would give a cleaner system, with higher resolution, and better connectivity. Just for info, the system I bought is linked below, it was a private purchase, and my motivation was wanting something like what Ben installs, but with the option of being able to install to my standard, and save cash: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005004065427172.html Who is to say if it is a cheaper clone version, and if it will break down in a couple of months, however, as someone from an electronics background, and understanding IPCC standards, I opened up this box, and the standard of soldering seems perfectly good - the board itself seems to be a generic input/output board with a mounted logic daughter board - I would guess the only difference between this and Bens version is firmware, as the icons, switchgear and connectivity instructions appear identical
  11. Also, if your battery on fob dies, the fob is able to still work if you touch it to the start button, like wireless charging
  12. Door handle lights are actually behind the pull handles, I have seen these sold on aliexpress, so may have been an option of the 's' model (that had lots of LED lighting under consoles etc.
  13. What about this for 10 series, larger screen that is more 'tesla' like https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002868913998.html
  14. nice find, takes away some of the risk for those of us will less steady hands
  15. That is the manual control, if you opt to not have touchscreen controls - the system ben sells on ebay for self install uses this, and the kit I bought from aliexpress can also be supplied with this jog wheel, if you wish to opt for manual control - will make the install alot less fiddly
  16. Yes, if i had a 10 series, I would take a punt at that, looks very nice
  17. Arthur, I could guide through the install, it is a bit fiddly. You need to open up the screen, and connect a flexi wire to the existing touchscreen connector, this gets routed out the case and connects to the android box and the select switch (you often see this on bens installs to the right of the headunit) the box itself has a single plug into the back of the headunit (replacing the original AUX video and stereo inputs) _ this is the primary reason for the low resolution, because you are using a phono video input, higher end more expensive solutions would use the digital video input (GVIF) (used by the auto parking, 270degree cameras, satnav) The resolution is useable, a bit like the older satnav systems, I would say its equivalent to something like 600x480. On the wiring loom that provides lighting to the gear selector, I found an extra plug - i used this for the 'illumnination' signal. I added a connection to the cigarette lighter, for switched power, I also connected the '+battery' to this, as i did not want the box draining current from the battery - it means it takes about 20 seconds to power on, but then so does the original headunit. The next problem, was that the AUX input will 'bluescreen/blank', when you go over 5mph. I got around this by cutting the Speed input and the Handbrake signal wires that are present at back of headunit and grounding them (Headunit side, not the loom side) if the touchscrren does not seem to calibrate, I had to swap over 2 of the wires in the flexi switch pba, not too much of a problem. I tried to find out Bens firmware, but as usual cagey, as if its some top level secret, he thinks my unit is a clone, but for £160 plus a couple hours of time, I have change to fill up the tank 2 times, lol. Everything works the same as the unit he sells.
  18. Using the Toyota GSIC, these diagrams are searchable, you can trace from component down to plugs.
  19. These actually are the second gen wiring diagrams. Specifically 2008 loom for non japanese market (china, UAE, Russia, Malaysia, Singapore), you can even see references in some, to the 3,5l engine
  20. open boot, remove the small plastic covers, bulbs are accessible through them
  21. I have a few dvds filled with Mp3s from many years ago that happily work, too
  22. I set the sliding doors to single beep when closing, and all Windows open close with long press on external door handle button or remote
  23. about £350. From what I have seen on Facebook groups. You can buy something similar (if not identical) yourself and install for under £200. His price is not unreasonable,
  24. of you can't figure out, I will post some pics. if it's set up correctly, it should automatically start to copy the CD to the harddrive, a little symbol will appear in corner of the progress, once complete, you hit the HDD button to select album/track
  25. £3000? FFS. No no no no nope. please do not spend that amount of money, there are alphard specific systems you can buy for under £600, most plug and play. The only issue with most is non compatible with existing cameras, but of you only have a rear camera, then it is much cheaper to buy a 360degree system kit and this will feed into wherever head unit you fit, there are even 'tesla' style headunits for under £ 500.
