Rear Foglights - better integration
Chris.ac replied to Chris.ac's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
Well, as mentioned previously - I decided to take one for the team and purchase one of the more expensive reflector solutions. It definately reflects!!! I used just the light source from my phone and its almost like getting back 90% of the light! Excuse the sound quality, but I hope you get an idea of the reflective quality of these lenses - I dont have a 12v supply in the house at moment to test the led function! I placed the cheap ebay 'LED/Reflector' I purchased last year, but didnt fit as it was non-compliant underneath, so you can see the comparison -
You know Rojie, if I had spare time on my hands I would rip half the car apart to trace where all the wiring goes, maybe in the summer, when its bright out till 10pm, lol

I don't have info on the panasonic headunits, just that I am certain you can update the firmware to english, and updates the maps via DVD/SD I recall reading about it on some website whilst trying to find out about my own headunit -
interestingly, by disconnecting some of the wiring associated to the cameras, I was presented with a larger image of the car with the sonar detection areas being displayed, and the dashboard displayed the sonar too, so there is some weirdness to how the information from the various ecus is linked and served to the headunit.

I Wish I could be confident, attached is mine! from a 2010 3.5l 18speaker external amplifier, IPS (3cameras) TV, rear screen, Gbook, satnav. I know the green/blue/brown are GVIF connectors , for things that are auxillary, such as intelligent parking assist, SATNAV, side/front camera (Rear is on one of the larger connectors, with a passthough to the IPS if it exists) DTV The bottom left is GPS antenna. I thought the green gvif might have been for hybrid, as seperate ecu feeds image to headunit. All the wiring diagrammes I have managed to find only make minor mention of head unit connections, and I have not yet been able to find pin outs for these units. (I have pinouts from the Amplifier and rear camera.

2018 Headunit Change

I thought the 30series headunits had USB input - you should be able to add a USB carplay adaptor -

If you want cheap, you can always go the route of a FM transmitter/bluetooth adaptor like this: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002877156752.html Allows you to connect your devices via BT to it, then connect it via FM, adds usb/sdcard storage and has its own little control buttons, so no fiddling with your phone. -
Rear Foglights - better integration
Chris.ac replied to Chris.ac's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
Trust me, I have a switch that is illuminated with all the other buttons, and has a 'on' led on it too, it is not visible from my normal seated postion, I have to crane my neck to see it through the spokes of the steering wheel - the spares slots in my dash are 'keyed' for specific toyota switchgear so you would have to file away plastic to get an aftermarket switch to fit - there is one 'generic' hole that accepts the switch without hacking away at dash. - I had thought to swap positions of some of the installed switches to make more visible, this is how I found out that it was not possible without lots of unnecessary damage The original aftermarket switch the dealer fitted was done by drilling a hole next to the start button!, so I ripped that out and replaced that part of the dash because it looked so rubbish. -
Could I suggest looking here: http://eightseaters.blogspot.com/search/label/HU Operation So many different headunits, but on mine there are 2 bluetooth connections to set up - one for the'phone' and one for 'media' I even have it that my wifes phone will autoconnect the media, so she acts like DJ, whilst mine is free to connect for hands free calling if necessary

Navigation System 20 series Alphard
Chris.ac replied to Dazman's topic in Alphard Club Members Introductions
What does that headunit look like, and what year of manufacture in your 20series, the wiring plugs went through several changes between 2008 and 2015, with different parts of the loom 'hidden' dependant on if you had intelligent parking assist (auto parking with 3 or 4 cameras), rear camera only, Navigation, media HDD, usb input, rear screen, 8 or 18 speaker setup etc. -
Rear Foglights - better integration
Chris.ac replied to Chris.ac's topic in Toyota Alphard Club Forum (2002 - 2008)
I use them quite regularly, having to turn them off and on several times on some trips, lots of A303 and M4 commuting. The installation using the rocker switch means it is obscured by the steering wheel - the proper switch gear means you have the telltale incorporated into the dash clocks properly, and if you forget to switch them off, at the end of a commute, they automatically revert back to the off state the next time you start engine. Its just personal preference, some people like to lower their vehicle and fit 20" wheels, or fit bodykits, for me im a sucker for keeping the external look as close to original as possible. -

Fog relay fuse.pdf The relay you need is identical to the 'STCut relay' (Same part number) that is in the same relay/fuse block, I got the part number from the Toyota EPC, but my local shops didnt have it by that part number, a mechanic was in the shop at the time, he was able to recognise the relay just from the photo and pin arrangement on that PDF, he had a scrap peugeot on his trailer and gave me one of the relays from that for free, its a common relay type, so should not be hard to find for info: https://toyota.epc-data.com/alphard/ggh20w/63376/electric/8401/85916L/ -

https://www.jauce.com/auction/k1038214245 https://www.jauce.com/auction/t1010370578 These are for 10 series - they both appear to have reflex reflector properties and lighting - one part is a private seller, and the other is available on bulk. -
Looking for Android Head Unit for AH20 2008
Chris.ac replied to EaglEye's topic in Alphard Buy & Sell
im sure the units ben installs have 2 usb inputs for storage, he wont give exact model details of the GVIF box he is using, though, which I can understand from a business point of view, but its irritating as hell, there would be alot more custom for him if he was more unfront, as from all my digging into the costs of the various gvif boxes and the wiring looms means he is not making much profit at all, at most he is making £80 per install. attached is a type of interface box that sits between the exisiting park assist box and the headunit, you then feed an android box in to this (as well as any other video source) I think he has a box that has the android portion integrated CI-VL2-GVIF.pdf -
Gosh, if I hadnt just recently got my 2010 alphard last October, i'd bite your hand off to get this.
