Hello brian a basic odb2 scanner will read the engine light only thats probaly why it wont read your faults because engine light not on really you need some one who has techstream software this reads everything in the alphard maybe there is a member on here thats close to you with a scanner who can help you . im sure some one on here will help you.

Welcome zoe Most parts available but like with any car you can have problems have you anyone who will work on your import as some garages don't like working on imports

It was the American version of the 2.4 engine that had a oil usage problem not the jdm import all jdm versions are bullet proof if well serviced regularly I do a oil change on mine every 5000 miles

john also get your self a fuel injector cleaner one that cleans your cat and fuel system i add a bottle once a month this will clean your fuel system and clean the converter and oxgen sensors
